have enjoyed the big diversity of reports from fellow mongerers and thought it was time for me to add my perceptions. i have been visiting bangkok andpattaya every february for the last five years, but have decided to by-pass bangkok completely on the visit to the los. would recommend same to all first=time adventurers. pattaya has everything bkk has and more. for me pattaya has bkk beaten in spades. i have enjoyed the adventuring in bkk-nana plaza, soi cowboy, soi 33, the beer garden, but now i ask myself why go back to the smoke and congestion and higher prices of bkk when pattaya has it all and more and at cheaper prices. there are over 100 go=go palaces with some of the sexiest asian lovelies i have ever seen. i personally have gotten a kick out of going on the hunt in the more than 1000 beer bars along beach road and second road and elsewhere. fellow adventurers and mongerers know that the thrill of the hunt is in the thrill of the chase. i have discovered some real honeys nesting in some of the beer bars who have produced wondrous delights as companions to live music venues and later in bed. soi 6 is almost unmatched in bkk as there is an ambiance of earthy, unalderated sex about it. can also remember many afternoons of good conversation with fellow mongerers in the bars of sois7 and 8. pattaya has a plethora of great restaurant s with many international cuisines represented. the great number of hotels means more competition and better prices. for me, flipper lodge on soi 8 is hard to beat. there are some tremendous live music venues rep001tered throughout the area of south pattaya and then there is the beach for a diversion when you feel partied out as i do after four days and night. time to recharge the battery with a book at the beach.
more later.

Good points, Arky. I live in BKK and I never monger here. In fact, I rarely even go out in Bangkok. The city sucks for mongering, and you don't get the same service as you do in Pattaya. Now I just save my money and go down to Pattaya once a month for a great weekend. I really don't understand guys who stay in Bangkok to monger. They really don't know what they're missing.
For example, a few of us went down to Soi Cowboy last weekend. We hadn't been there in a few months, and just decided to check it out. We walked down the soi a few times and it was just dreadful. Desperate slags trying to get you into the club by pulling on your shirt and tugging your arm. There were 3 elephants walking down the soi, with touts in tow. I counted 5 flower sellers who couldn't have been more than 8 years old. Went into one of the clubs - all the dancers had bored faces so we immediately walked out - didn't even sit down. I turned to my friend and said "This is dreadful. I will never come here again". And I won't. My mongering days in BKK are over. The city is just horrible. In Pattaya it's not only a hell of a lot cheaper, but you get better service, the air is cleaner, and there is more choice - there's probably over 5,000 bars in Pattaya. I've never had a bad time there!

Wow, now that's a minority point of view. Pattaya is certainly easier and more open for the tourist or new expat, but no one should ever underestimate the depth and quality of the Bangkok mongering scene. Judging it on the basis of a walk down Soi Cowboy is like going to a burger stand in Paris and saying ugh, the food in this town sucks.
american hospitalized with stab wounds after quarrel with fellow countryman
boonlua chatree
a fight between two american men in a condo room led to one of the men being stabbed and seriously injured.
police question paul joseph laurettaja.
pol col noppadol wongnom, superintendent at pattaya police station led a team of officers to a condo near the asia hotel at 12:30 a.m. on september 2, following a report by a security guard of a disturbance.
at the scene, the officers discovered robert george koenig, 57, a resident of california, usa, sitting on the floor in a pool of blood. he had sustained a stab wound under his chin, two stab wounds to his stomach, and another stab wound to his right arm. he was rushed to hospital for treatment.
the officers examined the scene. there was blood spread over the floor, up the wall, and a long trail of blood outside, leading up to the room. a bloodstained internal phone was hanging off the phone table.
the officers questioned suggi puh, a 69-year-old german citizen in a nearby room. he said he had been sitting with his wife watching television when there was a heavy knocking on the door. opening it, he found koenig bleeding heavily and asking for assistance. puh contacted the condo staff, who called the police.
the police learned that koenig’s attacker was also an american, who was staying in a room next to the injured man’s room. they knocked on the door, which was opened by paul joseph laurettaja, a 61-year-old resident of massachusetts, usa.
laurettaja said that he had quarreled with koenig, who challenged him to a fight outside the room. however, he claimed he did not stab him or use a knife. police confirep001ed laurettaja’s passport and released him. they are now awaiting the recovery of koenig before deciding on the next course of action.

Of course I didn't judge it based on one short walk. I've been here for a while, and during my tenure here I've visited all (or nearly all) what this city has to offer mongers. In my opinion, it sucks. It's just too expensive and the service isn't the same as elsewhere. I used to live in Pattaya as well, and know that city very well. It's miles better than Bangkok in nearly every way.

With due respect, I doubt if you've much more than scratched the surface of what Bangkok offers. I've been doing it for 30 years, including ten years on a daily basis, and I feel like I'VE barely scratched the surface.
No argument on Pattaya -- it's great easy fun, especially for guys who don't speak much Thai or who just want everything laid out in front of them. But I think you'll find that many long-time connoisseurs gravitate to Bangkok, just as many of them prefer Manila to Angeles City or Jakarta to Bali. Me, I love Bangkok and Pattaya equally, just in different ways.
I'll chime in - while I frequently have a bad time in either place, I do of course prefer Pattaya. The biggest reason being not the girls - though of course they are cheaper and generally offer better service and attitude - but that a week in Pattaya is quite salubrious. Anything more than 3 days in Bangkok leaves one tired and irritated. The problem is all the crowds, public transportation, traffic, taxis, and of course the heat. In Pattaya temperatures are cooler, one can get everywhere on a cheaply rented motorbike easy as pie, and the air is much better - even including sea breezes.
I do think it is true for big spenders, and those who like a more 'Thai-oriented' scene or Soapies/Fishbowls, Bangkok is better.
With due respect, I doubt if you've much more than scratched the surface of what Bangkok offers.
I'm quite sure that's true, but it isn't really apparent from the forum. There is a ton of information on MPs, Sukhumvit FLs and Gogo's. In comparison the Thai scene (e. G. Up near Saphan Kwai, & the grotty neighbourhood karaoke bars, & I don't know what else), and whatever other scenes, is relatively uncharted territory. Maybe that's just the way it is.- more freeform and surprising. And vulnerable to exposure. There are clues here to pick up & follow on your own, but it's easy to lose the path and end up wasting time.
To stay on topic: had my first visit to Pattaya yesterday. Soi 6 delivered in spades. I challenge any horny individual to make it all the way down the street without cumming at least twice. Mine were with a very cute babyfat beginner in Lick Bar (700BJ, same as SOL in BKK) and a tall slim big-boobed young lady in Love Club (300room/700lady).
I have had similar relaxed cuddling in Thai lounge in BKK but even less English, but the surroundings were much worse (dingy, harsh) than Soi 6.

Yes, but what does a knife fight between two stupid drunken Americans have to do with Pattaya, except of course that it happened here? How many more times does it happen in Bangkok? If Pattaya is a zoo, BKK is the Sarengetti Plains.
Go to Miami and you can see it happen daily on every street corner in some districts.

And money! Plus it takes at least a reasonable command of Thai to get into the 'real' Bangkok scene. But once you crack the code, it's endless.
Back on topic, I'm a total Soi 6 junkie, though I always warn first-timers to be prepared for a bit of a freak show. Best to go just after the sun sets -- the Soi 6 style of makeup (not to mention many of the faces it covers) is not designed for daylight! And keep the faith that you *will* find something nice eventually, as unlikely as it might seem at first.
I normally get a suit and shirts made up each year in BKK. Have used Rajawongse and Raja's and been happy with the quality.
I'm thinking about bypassing BKK as my trip is fairly short. Can anyone recommend a good tailor in Pattaya for persnal experience?
Thanks in advance.

Augh! I gotta get there! My 4 hours a week of lessons isn't working! I don't even know where the code is ..

Maybe I was lucky, but I saw a fair number of cuties.
Hi guys,
I'll be in Pattaya for the umm-teenth time this November. My number one mission this time around is going to be to bang twin sisters. A few years ago I had a couple of twins hit on me, but I wasn't interested and passed them along to my buddy. Apparently the two identical sisters did lesbian and the whole nine.
Can anyone on the board point me in the direction of either twin sisters or as a second runner up, full-blooded sisters that work together? The twins I met aren't around anymore to my knowledge and the other set I had heard of isn't working on walking street anymore and seems to have disappeared into the history books. Please share your suggestions.
J Ride
I apologize in advance as I know this is a little off topic. I have just returned from my 3rd trip to the LOS. I have enjoyed all of my trips immensely, don't get me wrong. I love the Thai culture and people and the women are awesome. In my older age though, I am finding myself becomming less able to tolerate the ungodly repressive heat that I encounter there. Each time I have visited I have found myself doing less and less. The last trip there the heat absolutely wore me down. I have gone during there "winter" before and found there to be not that much difference. I was wonder if some of our more globally seasoned campaigners could recommend a mongering location with some of the similiar good qualities of Thailand, women, cost, etc. without all of the HEAT. It would be great to have a location where I could spend more time without killing myself. Any locations you could suggest would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
