Caribe has never been guest friendly to my knowledge, plus it is quite pricey given the antiquated facilities. Its strong point is old world charm. Why not rent an apartment that will be cheaper, closer to LDV and will allow unlimited guests?

Aside from issue with the policia, associating with those in the drug trade is NOT really a sweell idea anywhere, let alone in Colombia. The way to do it is to find a chica that is a marijuanera and let HER get it/hold it.

I’d gladly stay in an apartment, but usual practice for me is to stay in a hotel and it would raise numerous eyebrows if I rented an apartment - that would not be a discreet move on my part. The Caribe was not my choice – my company booked me there because my usual place was unavailable for the three-day weekend. I will see what happens when I try to bring a guest up. Thanks for the tip. I guess the worst they would do would be to tell me no-go and I end up going upstairs by myself.

If your company is already paying for the hotel, you can still rent an apartment nearby. I rented an apartment in a block opposite the Da Pietro hotel. I can't remember the name, but it has an ice cream shop at the ground floor. It's on the other side of a little pedestrian area next to the Caribe. That way you've got an apt for chica's and room service if you get bored.

Approach the doorman of the block and ask. I'm sure they get a kicker from any rental, so they fall over backwards to please. It will cost around $40 a night and you are all set. If they don't have anything they will make some calls for you and get you something, again because they get some dinero.

Keep the valuables in your hotel, keep the condoms and lube in the apartment. Don't tell the chicas your in the hotel, take them to the apartment.

The Caribe is well located (walking distance to LDV!) but stuffy and traditional. If its early and LDV is quiet try the bar on the beach front, thats usually jumping, although its non monger related. Also the party buses for tourists stop there, so you can hop on and do a quick tour, have some drink, and a tout will make contact, although you don't have to take his girl - he'll show you the nightlife, try to hook you up with his preferred chica, but if you say no, he'll just ask for a couple of thou to cover his exes'.

Don't expect miracles and watch your back in Tripleterra or the Casa's, or anywhere with drunk, hungry Colombiano's!

You could also just take a taxi to "La Jaiba", it's a short time motel type place. 25,000 pesos for 2 hours. Taxi there and back approx 10,000 pesos each way. Adds about 20 dollars total to your cost, instead of 40.
Place is pretty nice too, many couples stop in and use the place to have a little fun.

Thanks for the suggestion of renting an apartment instead of testing out the hotel. Being in the rush that I was to get over to LDV as soon as possible last night, I didn’t have time to check out the rental options so figured I’d take my chances. I asked the bellman who showed me to my room if there would be any problem with bringing an amiga up later on and he told me no problem as long as she registered with her cedula at the front desk. So I went out pescando at LDV and ran into someone I had hooked up with a couple of months ago. We went back to the Caribe and sure enough, she left her cedula and came upstairs. Cost was about US$45 for a guest in the room, so there’s not much difference in cost between that and renting an apartment and the convenience of just going back to the hotel room can’t be beat. The only negative is the way the Caribe is set up, when you walk into the lobby there are very bright lights and what seems to be maybe a dozen staff hanging around, so if you have a problems with the Walk of Shame it can be intimidating, but it didn’t bother me. Also it’s a rather long walk from the front desk to where my room is, but that was ok too.

Funny thing about the chica-scouting phase at LDV – knowing that there might be some difficulty in bringing my amiga up to the room and also having seen what the lobby and front desk area looked like, I was on the lookout for a chica who was not wearing an outfit that was too obvious. Of course, pretty much all of them are dressed up super sexy at LDV, but some were wearing either impossibly short skits or barely-there tops so I avoided hooking up with any of them. My chica was wearing a not so obvious halter top and jeans, so I felt ok walking back into the hotel lobby.

So you can add the Caribe to your list of chica-friendly establishments if you can put up with the Walk of Shame part of it.

I only want an hour. For that I offer 100K(about US$43). Over 90% of the time that offer is accepted. If they don't want the 100, I politely thank them and walk. They will ask for 150 to 200.

All night should go for about 150K.

Beach and street girls go for 60-80K for an hour. You can find them in Centro and outside of the tourist areas for 40K for an hour. I have a friend who won't pay more than 20K. He once got a blow job at a love hotel for 5K including the room.

I couldn’t agree with you more about the $45 guest fee – that’s why I’ll never stay at the Caribe again. It just turned out that I had to stay there this time. On the other hand, since it’s almost the same cost as an apartment, it makes no difference to me and its easier for me to go back to the hotel than taking the extra time to look for an apartment if I don’t really have to do that.

As I am sure you know, there is a wild variation in quality of LDV chicas. Some are downright skanky and some are super babes. My experience is that prices tend to vary with the quality of the chica and while much is negotiable depending on the hour of the night and the monetary need of the chica, I’d rather leave with a babe than a skank. So sometimes I don’t object to paying a bit more if its within reason. I think that 150,000 for all night for an LDV super babe is within reason.

Although I have been to Cartagena many many times, I had never gone to the Tripleterra because the LDV was always so good to me. Last night I decided to give the Tripleterra a road test. I was impressed with the chica quality and quantity and found a super babe to take back with me. At least last night, it rivaled the LDV. I think the atmosphere in Tripleterra is just a little bit more comfortable than LDV which I find to be kind of like a big gymnasium that has lots of available women milling around.

150K is IMHO too high, even for so called superbabes. In fact I'm not certain there are superbabes - one persons superbabe is anothers mud shark, and vice versa.

As soon as you pay 150k regularly it becomes the de-facto standard cost for all of us, and the "superbabes" start asking for 300k. Inside a couple of years we'll have the same prices as Costa Rica.

Its been my experience that if you agree to pay over the odds, the girl thinks you're a sap. You won't get a good service and she will keep cranking the demands up.

Don't calculate on the basis of "how many dollars is that" relate it it the local costs instead.

I do alot of construction in the US as a general contractor. Whenever I get a sub that bids really low a "red flag" goes off. I know they are inexperienced or will bump me up later or walk off the job for more money, because they cannot do the job for that price.

I would rather accept a bid that is more normal from a respectable contractor than a low ball figure which will later not be honored. Sometimes I overpay because I know the sub is the best and reliable. I need to get the job done, not have problems.

Thing is there's a going rate, what irks me is the folk who allways cave in 33%-50%-100% too high.

Just for the record, I have more than 25 years experience in South America with about half of that in Colombia and I am fully bi-lingual, including having a good amount of Colombian slang. Chatting up the chica before making a decision is always part of the game and I never leave until I have done some of that bonding you mention. Even so, good conversation and bonding in the club doesn’t always mean that you won’t get less than expected results when you get her into your room. Those are just some of my observations.

I like Ngp477’s bidding analogy. I do my share of haggling when we start talking about take-out price and have had times when I insisted on 100k. Usual result – they walk away and that’s that. Fine. But I think I can tell when it makes sense to go up to 150k when I need to.

I guess each of us has our own style for doing this kind of thing.
