Just heard that the Government is now trying again to shut down Uber, and has banned Uber from operating for 21 days, doubtless because the taxi mafia and the politicians they own are losing out to the competition. To its credit, Uber is ignoring the government's order and it's evidently business as usual. Given the total inefficiency of the government and its inability to enforce much of anything, doubtless Uber will continue uninterrupted. The monopolies that control everything here intensely dislike competition. However, in this case, they're going to lose.

GE.[/QUOTE]How I read it GE is that the QC court placed a TRO (Temporary Restraining Order) on the issue of more Uber licenses. Likely a pre cursor to banning (or trying to ban) Uber fully.

Looking at news articles on the Uber issue, most comments are ridiculing the government and the judge. Stating similar things as you said in your FR.

Your comment about the local families / politicians / mafia is true IMHO as look a Emirates. The local boys asked the government to stop EK operating a third flight a day to NAIA (even though all flights were full of OFWs) as they were hurting. Rather than raise their standards just ask PNoy and pals to stop the competition. OFWs I speak with in the AW all want to fly EK or Etihad or PAL or Cebu Pac over that distance.

EK is full on many flights, PAL and CPac are cheaper for sure but many prefer a "good safe" airline (to quote one friend).

I am not sure why our members are reluctant to join forces but once again I am back to the phils and woudl love to arrange an orgy or gangbang.

Lately online non-pro-to-my-door (or at least to the closest mall) has kept me well entertained. FWIW, I've known a couple girls who worked in KTVs (I think it orignally stood for karaoke TV). According to my second-hand info, they're kinda like touts when working in front (often in a theme uniform or just scantily clad) and bar / club / singing / snacking hostesses when working inside. They get whatever meager pay by the hour or by commission. They undoubtedly make mutually beneficial arrangements with their mostly Pinoy customers.

On my last visit I asked two taxi guys about dorms or casas, but either they didn't know such places or I didn't know the term they use. Will try again when the opportunity arises. Any old hands with details to share publicly or via PM are appreciated.

It seems to me that you must have had your snip done WITHOUT much due diligence. In 1990 when I had mine done, I went through several "interviews" with a doctor and a psychologist too so that my decision was made for all the right reasons. For you to decide later that you still wanted to have babies with not one but TWO other women makes me think that your decision was taken lightly.

I wholeheartedly agree with your suggestion to "think carefully guys", and to be sure it is right for you, but, in my case, the vasectomy improved my sex life and, given the choice 100 times again, it would be a no-brainer for me to be snipped 100 times.

I have seen some past inquiries regarding GoHotels as to whether or not it is girl friendly or monger friendly. It is not! I would go further to say that the entire chain is not adult friendly. Checked into one for a few nights in the provinces after flying in from Manila on short notice because I wanted to get on the ground and look into other higher quality and priced options before negotiating a long-stay rate. GoHotels targets the Filipino budget market and has numerous house rules that you are not informed about upon check-in when they take your nonrefundable payment in advance for your entire stay. If you violate any of their rules some security guy will appear you inform you that such a rule exists and you just broke it. They also assess fines for breaking their rules.

All of the bad reviews they have from Trip Advisor and other online booking sites are well earned. When I first checked out the reviews they seemed mixed with exceptionally high ratings and fair to bad ones. Anyway, after checking it out myself I can say the negative reviews cannot be dismissed as attacks from competitors. I will list some of the House Rules that I found next to the Bible on the bottom shelf of the nightstand in the room:

Prohibited items and activities: For everybody's safety and protection, bringing in of any hazardous items inside GoHotels premises such as, but not limited to, malodorous articles, explosive, volatile or flammable materials, firearms, illegal drugs, alcoholic beverages, bio hazards, heavy machinery and electronic / electrical appliances which may interfere or obstruct with the computer network / systems are strictly prohibited. Likewise, all illegal activities such as, but not limited to, all forms of gambling and prostitution are strictly prohibited and will be reported to the proper authority.

Smoking & eating: Smoking is strictly prohibited inside hotel premises. Eating is only allowed on designated common areas. Violators will be penalized PHP 1,000.00 (One Thousand Philippine Pesos) for EVERY infraction. GoHotels reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to remove from its premises any individual who fails to comply with such rules regardless of the number of infractions.

WATER: Please be advised that water from the faucet is not potable. (There are no signs about the faucet warning of this, and no complimentary bottled water is provided.).

Visitors: Visitors may stay in a registered guest's room only until 10:00 PM.

Room capacity: Each room shall ONLY have a maximum occupancy of two adults and one child.

According to the security guy, they spy on you via CCTV in common areas and housekeeping does more than cleaning. Based on initial level of cleanliness in the room it seems housekeeping spends more time looking for evidence that guest ate in the rooms, drank alcohol, fucked on the sheets, etc. So fines can be accessed. By the way, cleaning is only on demand and there are extra fees for this outside of designated times. VPN ports are also blocked on their free WIFI network and your browser will warn that the network is not to be trusted as certificate information is dodgy and not in accordance with legitimate security practices.

Also, the hotel does not have a fixed pricing for the duration of your stay. The price is much higher on some days and lower on others making budgeting beyond 10 days impossible. As other options exist in the provinces for their average PHP 1,600/ night with more amenities, daily cleaning without extra fees, and no moral / religious rules and unilateral PHP 1,000 penalties it would be advisable to avoid GoHotels and get a real hotel even when conducting a few days reconnaissance before committing to a long stay in the area. Their corporate aim is "to foster a place for every Juan. " Apparently, Juan is happy to pay to have his enjoyment severely circumscribed and penalized by Robinsons Land Corporation. As a foreigner, here is a final consideration in deciding whether you should stay in GoHotels or not. The hotel warns that in the event of items going missing from the room or property damage "appropriate actions shall be taken, such as but not limited to, filing of appropriate criminal actions against the registered guest (s). So, you may find yourself denied exit at immigration because you have a pending criminal case over a missing towel.

There was a debate about how much money you can bring or leave with. Turns out it is 10,000 piso - $212 approx.

She asked me if I am interested she could get me nice girls. I said ok, let us see. She took me to a nearby house and I saw 6 girls and some doable. Cost was 1500 LT to take to hotel. I said let me come back because I need to go somewhere. I was not going to take a risk taking the girl. Who knows what scams they are in to and also hygiene of the girls. Looked like girls are for locals. Not sure if the Casa is still there. Next day mango selling lady asked me why I did not take a girl. She said there would have been no problems because she would not have taken me there. I told her I already have a girl in the room.

I do not knowingly take risks.

I left Manila on Thursday afternoon at 2 pm for Subic Bay. I elected to take the Victoria Line bus from their EDSA
Station. Wikitravel and other travel information indicate it takes 2 to 2 1/2 hours to Subic from MNL. This is not the case at all as it took 2 hours just to leave Manila proper due to the heavy traffic. I arrived in Olangapo at 7:15. From there it was a 20 minute taxi to Bareto beach so the actual trip the was 5 1/2 hours.

I did not have a reservation but decided to try Treasure Island Resort. They only had one room available and none for the weekend but did not want to try someplace else by that hour. The room cost was $2500 p and was perfectly awful. The air sounded like a cranky 747, flies were landing on me all night, and the room was as basic as a backpacker hostal one would find in some backwater Bolivian pueblo. They should be charging $20 USD. To add insult to injury, I was awoken at 4 am by some drunken bloke complaining to his date about leaving early in violation of their 'agreement. ' If this guy is reading this, learn to suck it up without waking up everyone else.

The next morning I walked down the path to find the Blue Rock Resort and found a perfectly acceptable room for the same $2500 p, if paid in cash. However, the wifi is not so great and the pool, small to begin with, was undergoing maintenance. I also took a look at Wild Orchard. They have a 20% off promotion on their 3000 p standard room. However, these rooms are not poolside but elsewhere in the hotel so did not bother looking. The pool was large and very nice. Reviews on TA suggest the rooms are dated and the lobby seemed to need a refurbishment. The lobby also has an ATM, which to my knowledge is the only one by the beach area.

One nice thing I found out is the Blue Rock (aka Dryden Group) also owns several clubs including Flash Rat. I bar fined a girl there around 1:30 am but realized in the process I did not have enough cash. No problem as I just signed a chit for the BF and my drink. The hotel also offers one comp drink at Flash Rat. This bar, though on the main road, is the closest to the Blue Rock or about a 5 minute walk. The mamasan was quite nice explaining the bar fine amount ($1600 p) and the tip to the girl, which she said was generally 1000 p. When you BF a girl here, it's for all night unless you want her to leave earlier.

I stopped in a few others owned by the Dryden Group including Lollipop, Wet Spot, and Alaska. The talent at these places seemed to be limited. The last bar I visited before returning to Flash Rat was Voodoo. Apparently, this bar is now owned by an American as he purchased it from the Dryden group recently. The really hot girl issuing the chits is his GF so don't get too excited when you
see her. The GRO there was also nice and told me the tip should be half the BF. BTW, their BF is now $2000 p. She is 41 but still put together nicely, pretty, and mature unlike some of the young girls in there.

The girls at Flash Rat were so-so but there did seem to more energy and people in here than the others. I finally decided on this teeny tiny girl (26 yo) who weighed all of 36 kilo and was 4 foot nothing just for the novelty. That is as petite as I have ever gone. The first time was quite fun. Instead of being shaved, she had almost downy light hair above her clit and she was doing the 'oh 'shit' cry for the first act. Previously, the barfine covered everything, just like Angeles. The tip was up to you. One of the draws for Subic was that it was generally cheaper than Angeles.
