After about 20 minutes, I was called to the conference room where she falsely accused me of drug use, excessive alcohol consumption, and forcing myself on her under the pretext of offering employment.

Hotel security searched my room during my absence and, of course, found nothing. When challenged, she even pretended to have our WhatsApp conversation saved, but conveniently, it had "vanished. " Security eventually confirmed that she had companions waiting in a car outside, and that's how she left the premiseswithout a word when the hotel threatened to call the police and take legal action against her.

Reflecting on this situation, I believe I narrowly avoided a much worse scenario. Here are a few critical takeaways I want to emphasize:

Meet in Public First: Always insist on meeting in a public place, like a hotel lobby or caf, before proceeding further. This gives you the chance to verify the person's identity and intentions.

Opt for High-Standard Hotels: Choose a reputable 4- or 5-star hotel. The security and professionalism of the staff can make a significant difference in such situations. If I had been in an Airbnb or OYO, the outcome could have been very different.

Keep Your Personal Info Private: Use a separate phone and number for such meetings. In my case, she only had the information I provided, which worked in my favor. The hotel staff took my main phone for verification, found nothing incriminating, and this helped to prove her falsehoods.

Trust Your Instincts: If something feels off, it probably is. Don't let offers of discounted rates or other temptations cloud your judgment.

Plan Your Exit Strategy: Be prepared to leave or call for help if the situation takes a turn. I was fortunate to have stayed in a place with professional security who responded promptly.

This experience was both stressful and embarrassing, but it could have been far worse. Please take these precautions seriously, and always prioritize your safety over convenience or savings.
