I was talking about married guys who don't see the similarities between hookers, girlfriends, and wives. Couple of thoughts. First, you are not married, you have a GF, and neither party is required to care for the other financially.
Second, even if you were married, your situation is the rare exception to the rule: Married men are usually the breadwinner, married women are usually not the breadwinner (although she may share in part of that). Across the globe, and across time, this is a rule (which, in modern times / economy, may be changing -- slightly). I'm sure some countries keep statistics on who earns how much money (sexes, ethnicities, etc). If you want to have a good honest look, go to any family Court and watch the proceedings for a few days (or a few months). You will not see a man bring cause to get spousal support from his wife. You will see many wives seeking said support from the husband. That's because men have the money (or access to it) or a job, and women want it (and are often entitled to it).
When a man says to me that we all pay for it one way or the other (true, I believe), then later tells me the context or situation was different because one person was married, he is fooling himself.
Say, for example: There's a college-age girl who sleeps with me on a regular basis, for goodies (friends, with benefits for both). We established a price we agreed upon. Later she got into trouble with drugs. I stopped seeing her for a while, with her begging at times. We worked out a deal where I started paying some of her debts, or buying her things, as opposed to giving her money. At one point she wanted a couch for her apartment. The cost was 3 x our normal overnight rate. She agreed to do the 3 nights, and I paid for the couch and delivery. All went well. I think that's a textbook definition of prostitution.
One of my buddies had to buy his wife a bedroom set of furniture in order to get sex. I think those two scenarios (myself and my buddy) are identical situations. After his divorce, he made an impassioned case that his situation was different: he was married. He called my girl a 'hooker'. Jesus de Christo man, wake up. To say that your wife or girlfriend is different than a hooker is simple semantics. If you are providing for her, you are providing for her. There is a simple test for any woman (street walker, girlfriend, or wife), to find out if she's a hooker or not: stop providing for her. If she continues f*cking you, then its LOVE. If she drops you like a hot rock, then it's prostitution. While prostitution is the world's oldest profession, marriage tends to be the world's oldest legal form of prostitution.

I have never tried to negotiate a rate or argue about the rate with an exchange chap, because most often the differential between a bank rate and a exchange shop rate is reasonable & understandable. But when it starts looking like more than 1 Peso, has anyone tried to question this?
I have not picked up any news of a massive currency fluctuation anywhere.

The Official doesn't give you the rate, the money changer does, LOL. If a differential of one pesos or more, then someone is making money. Watch for sleight of hand, if the rate is too good. Any rate, I have to go and eat my Christmas dinner. Ooorooo!
