Thank you Westcoast1 for answering my question about current prices. I gather that the rates in AC are as in Cebu in that they include both the barfine and the fee for the girl, correct?

But if you don't tip in non-western countries, you probably won't be seen as a cheap charley. Don't tip your pinay waitress, she won't think of you as kuripot. If you don't tip your pinay hooker, she probably won't see you as kuripot. If she (either the waitress or hooker) actually DOES see you as kuripot, then she's spoiled. Other clients previous to you were in the custom of tipping her. Custom is hard to break. If you are used to a custom, it becomes built-in, and difficult not to perform the custom in a place where its not done. Its up to you to break the custom (only in those places where its not performed, or a different custom is performed). Do as the romans do (but only in rome).

When I'm in a westernized place, I often tip well, ranging from small to larger-than-normal, depending on the service. Its not beyond me to put down $20-$30-$40 for an $85 meal for my date and I if the food was good and the servers did their job efficiently, gracefully, energetically (and explain it to the management). Certainly there is nothing kuripot about that. Also its not beyond me to put down nothing at all if the food is bad / cold and the service is poor (and to explain it to the management). On the other hand, I don't tip in places where the locals don't tip.
Really the girls you bed don't expect a tip in pinas. Getting one is a wonderful surprise usually. If its not a surprise, if its expected, then she is: spoiled. Tipping her makes the gent feel good (as is his custom) , but certainly doesn't help the matter for the next guy.
Something that bothers me more than the argument here about how much to tip the girls. And that is: right here in my westernized country, there are good folk who are so hooked into the tipping culture, that they believe that one MUST tip a service provider, no matter how poor the service. My former dates, one of my sisters (yet not the other sisters, one of whom is a former waitress) , and my mother are hooked into this belief. At times receiving the worst service and / or food you can possibly imagine, they get mad at me when I don't leave a tip. While visiting my parents a few months ago in my (large) hometown, I took them to dinner one night. My mother had heard of a neat new restraunt we wanted to try. She made a reservation for the three of us at 8pm. Once there, they asked us to wait in the bar and have a drink. 40 minutes later they took us to our table. Ten minutes later they brought menus. My dad kept dozing off. Ten minutes later we ordered. Thirty minutes later the food came. Dad's steak was underdone and cold. They brought my mom chicken (she ordered fish). My meal was fine. With drinks and tax, $96. Mom looked over the bill and said to add a $20 tip. I paid with my CC and left no tip. While my parents were getting ready to leave I ran to the can. I saw the waitress on the way back and told her briefly why I wasn't leaving a tip."Ya its fine. We're really busy tonight. Very sorry." Mistakes made:
* Reservation 8pm. Didn't get any food until 9:30.
* Spent 10 minutes without seeing a menu. A no-no in the restaurant biz.
* Food cold. Wrong food. Food must be re-warmed and re-ordered.
* Could not flag down waitress. Nearly non-existent most of the time.
* After clearing the table of plates, another 15 minutes before the bill came. Showed up at 8pm, didn't leave until after 10:30pm. Poor dad, slept through parts of it.
A few minutes after driving away from the restaurant, mom asked how much tip I left on my CC. Zero mom. She was fairly steamed with that."You should leave her SOMETHING. Its tempting to tell you to turn the car around so I can go give her something." Abso-fucking-lutely amazing. If the waitress was fine with not getting a tip, you got to ask: what's up my mom's butt? To cut my lovin' mom some slack, she grew up in the depression and she knows austerity. You see this in AC sometimes (or here on the board). Some guy says,"Ya she starfished on my then ran out after the first pop after agreeing to stay all night. Said she had to get home to her son. So I only tipped her 300 instead of my usual 1000." Jesus.
This tipping discussion is endless.
Just tip what you feel the service provider deserves. They have done a good job? Tip them, otherwise don't tip them.
I apply this simple rule in any country regardless what the local habits are.
Don't feel like you need to keep up with the Joneses, Habibs and Kim Chungs in the tipping department. Some of these guys drop 4000 peso tips and I really question what value they get for this largesse. Want to feel like Donald Trump for a day? OK. Nice treatment next time you are in town? Perhaps, but keep in mind average "tour of duty" for an AC hooker is 6 months or less. The turnover of girls is very high. When I visit an AC bar I see no faces I recognise. All new arrivals, been there 3 months or less. Career prostitutes are a rare kind of woman, most girls will try it for a few months, get sick of it quickly, and leave. So next time you come, the girl you tipped 4000 will simply not be there, long gone elsewhere.

He had never been out of the USA so I was showing him around CR. The best beaches on both coasts and San Jose. We had a great time, but my friend kept insisting on leaving tips no matter how far off the beaten track we were. His defense of his actions was "I'm only tipping $0.30 [or whatever the tip was]. It is nothing." I told him it was something. He was affecting the way the locals viewed gringos and this was wrong. He was a big Star Trek fan and I reminded him of the Prime Directive: Starfleet's General Order #1, (the most prominent guiding principle of the United Federation of Planets) that dictates that there can be no interference with the internal development of alien civilizations. He was at a loss and the tipping ended.
Now the question at hand is whether AC has already been affected by the outside world [the United Federation of Planets]. I would say it definitely has so I tip AC girls if they were really good and deserving of a tip. I am not spoiling the market because the market has already been spoiled long ago. Tipping a deserving working girl generates a positive reciprocal response the next time I go to that particular bar. The girls talk and I like being the beneficiary of that talk when I tip generously in the ballpark of 300p to 500p for really good service. It is well worth it the next time I enter that bar and everybody bends over backwards to see I am taken care of. I give no tip for BS or perfunctory service.

There is no tip requested (feel free to give what you want, if any).
The exception to this is the Santos Street blow-row bars. These are ST-only, either 2 or 4 hours. Also no tip requested (give if you want).

I have never taken any girls from there ST or LT or BJ upstairs. However I go there to check out the girls and have a drink, buy them some drinks and chat.
I have found the girls there are more down to earth and friendly. Only issue I have is they do so many BJ per day and I do not want to barfine them knowing what they do. Even in regular bars the girls.
Have sex frequently and do BJ as well but I do not see it.

When I finally do leave any girl a tip at all is to show just how great she was to me (and the tips from me are never over 200p- my usual is 100p). I leave a tip only because I WANT TO and NOT because I HAVE TO.
To those that have met me or know me then they also know I frequent LOS and Bali and in fact, I just returned from Bali from a 2 week stay there. And just for the record, for all those times I've been in Bali, I have NEVER EVER left a tip to anyone, no matter if they were a restaurant waitress, hooker or taxi driver etc. WHY-because the Indonesians are NOT a tipping culture (just like the Philippines). But I do seem to be getting into a bad habit in Philly as I do find myself tipping once in a while here, so go figure.

You are correct if you want a santo girl for LT you can only do that after midnight is 1000 p upfront to the bar, most girl have already ST 5-7 customer already is better to barfined and pay more at the bar.

If I want to tip a girl 3,000 peso it's MY business. I tip the girl VERY well if the service is good. I normally receive good service because I think it's all about your attitude!

Go back in any forum to eg. 2004, the word "runner" is still unknown because there weren't any. Barfine a girl at 3pm and she stayed with you till 11am next day without any discussion. I've done that countless times.
Runners popped up with the inflow of the Koreans 07/08 or so, maybe it has something to do with it, but I don't know. Probably.
To be honest, having had a runner in 2004, I would have gone back to the bar with her and make a big fuss, nowadays I don't care too much anymore.
