I'll be in Berlin at the end of June, and will visit Artemis while there. Where is the best place to exchange USD to Euros?

The last time I was there, a couple of years ago, I arrived at Tegel airport and was guided to a place to exchange USD to Euros by a German guy I met during the flight. After picking up luggage, we walked quite a ways, passing several places that exchanged currency, and he directed me to a place near an entrance. Are some places better than others? Better exchange rates, lower fees?

Visited Artemis last week, not much girls or men probably because of easter-celebrations. But even if it was a bit slow there was no problem to find girls and it was a relaxed atmosphere. Food hit and miss as usual.

Falco.[/QUOTE]Yes, Euronet, Cashzone etc etc are to be avoided. Basically all 3rd party ATM's charge extra. Either by adding a fee, or by delivering worse rates. There are shitloads of these 3rd party ATM's in Germany. Including all the ATMs located at the FKKs. So avoiding those as far as you can is good for your wallet. Try using ATMs owned by german banks, at the bank buildings.

At frankfurt I normally go to commerzbank on the street infront of the hbf if I am on foot. If by car, I use search for 'bank' on google maps, and go to the closest one near the fkks.

In Berlin I mostly use Berliner Sparkasse at wilmersdorfer strasse in charlottenburg just by the S bahn station if I am on foot. 1 stop away from Artemis... so I drop by that one if I come by s bahn. If you come from Tegel, I think one of the airport busses stops at kaiser friedrichstrasse next to it. At least it picks up passangers from there... and also just by the charlottenburg s bahn station. So you can get of there and take out money if you continue on to artemis by s bahn...

If you entered the country with your passport, then you should bring your passport with you (or at a minimum, a copy of the front page and the stamped page). Although a police inspection is a low probability (Razzia), if there is one, then you will save yourself the delay of the police taking you back to your hotel to retrieve your passport so that they can confirm and clear your identity. No sense wasting vacation time with such nonsense.
