Personally, I visit Kiev regularly because I just flat out love the city. Having spent time working there, I find the history fascinating, you can walk all day through beautiful parts of the city and see an almost endless stream of hot young talent, and most importantly, the nightlife is always exceptionally good fun.

Kiev clearly isn't what it was when I first went in 04/05, but I still get a rush when I'm walking through the Arrivals hall at Boryspil.
