My point of view at the moment might be tempered by the fact that I'm sitting on my living room in Davao, reveling in the fact that it's Friday, and sipping a well-decanted Super Tuscan Cabernet, so I'm mellowed out and relaxed, which may be the reason why I don't understand why we can't accept PIpimp's post at face vaue. But from reading some of these posts here & elsewhere, I'd get the impression that PI is a jungle-state where its poorer denizens is hiding at every dark corner, ready to pounce on you, rob / split your foreigner skull just for a few American dollars. I know that it is better to be safe than sorry but I think some of is just paranoia, in fact, downright irresponsible.

Foreigners being killed in ANY country is big news and you will hear about it on CNN for days. Even the corruptible government can't hide this because every embassy in the free world country will know if any of its citizens went missing. Taking into account the latest homicide statistics (2004-2010) , PI, particularly Angeles City, is safer than most modern city in the world. PI actually has lower murder rate per capita than Thailand and even USA according to these latest figures:

Thailand: 8. 5

USA: 6. 3

Angeles City: 5. 3.

Amsterdam: 7. 7.

Los Angeles: 12. 6.

Yes we can all cherry pick figures to suit our arguments but the fact is, these hardcore statistics are much more reliable than some of these fear-stoking stereotypes that even had me second guessing about the safety about my coming trip. If logic and stats do not prevail, my years of living in many countries tells me that the perception of criminal vulnerability in PI is mostly BS. Not to throw caution in the wind, I know that criminal violence can occur anytime and sometimes there is little you can do about it but I've lived enough places to know some of these fear-mongers must be living in caves (caves can be dangerous too). Some background: I use live in Oakland CA for 6 years where homicide occurs on the daily basis (if my math is correct, approximately 30 murders per 100, 000 population. About 6 times worse than Angeles City). I lived in a really bad neighborhood and couple of times even lurked out 2 am in the morning. Maybe I was lucky or naive or both, but I survived that without a scratch (But if I were a outsider reading the news, I'd think Oakland is a war zone and aptly so with its murder rates). Not to say I've never experienced violence, I have several occasions, and it didn't happen in a 'statistically unsafe' environment, in fact, I did have my truck stolen once in a good neighborhood (the kind with public schools full of rich white kids). I remembered also while I was a teenager in a upper-class neighborhood (Cerritos CA) and you know what? I was surrounded and beat up by bunch of local teenagers simply because I was a minority, not because of my money. Since, I've been to Thailand, Taiwan, Singapore, Japan, China and there are definitely places in each country that I felt 'unsafe' but in reality, nothing ever happened to me in my trips, to this day.

I'm not trying to defend Philippines, but lets be realistic here. Just go search Angeles City's criminal archive for past year (I did). From my brief research, AC was averaging about 2 murders every month (including foreigners) for year 2011. And its criminal activity isn't out of ordinary compared to some of the nicest city in the developed world. Any crime is bad but really, stop with the negative generalizations & insinuations just because the places some mongers (or non-mongers) visit in PI can be a shithole, the point is it doesn't mean you are MORE likely to be a victim of crime because the people are poor. Yes there are some poor countries that are outright dangerous, but PI just isn't one of them. Maybe the problem is people equate 'Developed world and all its modern convenience' with safety. Yes PI police can be corrupt and pros can scam you, JUST LIKE ANY prostitutes and police in the developed world. But like I said, the image of safety is all a facade. As nice as Thailand was, I felt unsafe at times and even Singapore when I inadvertently ventured into a ghetto section. But I blame that on being unfamiliar with the area. The point is, no matter where you live, if you live there long enough, you will be a victim of crime. Another way to look at it for me is: I'm more likely to be a victim of crime in USA than all the places in the world I've been to. If these statistics doesn't convince me, my personal experience sure verifies it. Of course I'll go to PI and practice safety precautions, like I would ANY new country, but I'm going there without prejudice and with my thinking cap (both) on. So I think people should stop piling on PI's safety record, if they have too much time on their hand, maybe they should start warning people about not going to Detroit.

There is no need to insult. PIPimp's behavior might be contradictory to his name. Pimps don't throw money at hoes. In fact, that would be considered fucking up the game and tricking. However, no one frequenting bars in AC is any better than the others. Regardless of how much money spent, or not, all visitors to the bar are there to buy sex or attention from girls driven by poverty to sell their asses and affections to men who find it difficult or impossible to obtain these things from women in their home countries. Face it, rich handsome young men do not visit The Anus of Southeast Asia to fuck poor hoes, buy them lady drinks or sit with them. Price point? GFE Quotient? Hotel prices? I'm not big on beach and read that the beach isn't that good anyway but there is something more relaxed about a beach town.

GFE in Thailand is no longer what it use to be this goes for both BKK or Patt. If you are not into the beach and nightlife / shopping is your thing BKK is far more entertaining.

Thanks for the good suggestions. BTW: I have been reading the f*king forum, problem is you have to wade through a lot of the same sh*t that I tried to stop with my post. Odd to me that a forum war is somewhat more acceptable than a discourse about traveling internationally for sex. No offense to anyone but at times its the internationalflameforum. And therein lies the problem. One can spend endless hours searching through endless posts and get little relevant information but a little reading and then some specific questions and you have what you're looking for.

Now it might be easy for a guy thats been traveling and reading the forum for years but trust me for someone thats new to forums it is not, and I'm a smart and successful guy. Not everyone gathers information the same way. I manage people and delegate gathering certain information and then I question them to come to an understanding of the subject at hand. If you look at my two posts I did not just sigh up and instantaneously post a question. Since I can't have one of my employees read this for me I did it, and have questions, and asked the people that I thought might have the answers. There might be other guys that are lurking that might have the same questions yet are not able or wiling to question.
