Lonely Man Island or Ling Ding Dao in Chinese, Is meant to be a little Chinese island very close to Hong Kong waters territory, but is mainland China. Apparently you can get a small sampan hired from Aberdeen harbour and get across there. There are meant to be loads of hair dressers shops, that are cover as working girls, hookers galore apparently, absolutely everywhere, have been told this by one or two expats and Chinese also, but yet to meet someone that has actually gone there, one HK Chinese I met said he had been but went quiet would not give details, perhaps other people know of this little island crawling with working girls all over the place. Legally not accessible from HK. Has ferries from Zhuhai.

From what I can gather the Island is very close to Hong Kong, just a quick boat trip. No other info on it unfortunately. I thought it was to NW of HK territory waters, Macau sort of direction.

I am due to travel to Hong Kong and Macau with my friends in December. I am curious about the following:

- place to stay. I have previously stayed in Kowloon, but wondering if there is some other area I should stay at?

- in the area, what is a girl friendly hotel? Budget is no more than 120 usd per night.

- I am aware of scene in Wanchai, Temple Street etc. , but want slightly upscale one night at least. .

- is there a chance to hook up with non Asian / non African WGs? I'd like CIS / Russian. Would they be more expensive?

Welcome to Hong Kong, enjoy our community. Please behave and treat others as you would like to be treated.

I would suggest that you stay on the HK side. The most convenient will be Wanchai, Causeway Bay, Tin Hau, North Point, maybe Quarry Bay. As long as your hotel is near an MTR stop you are only 5-15 minutes from the action by MTR, less at night by taxi.

For hotel I suggest you use Trivago to book. It is a meta-search so you save a few extra dollars by seeing what all the other sites are offering. If you want to stay in Wanchai itself, Metropark, Empire, Warney are in the thick of it, and in your price range. JJ is a boutique, $80, about 5 minutes walk. The Charterhouse is maybe 10 minutes' walk. In Causeway Bay look for Rosedale. In Tin Hau, L'Hotel. As far as I know, all hotels in HK are girl friendly.

I don't know that there is a particularly upscale district in HK with "girls". Lan Kwai Fong (LKF) is arguably more upscale. There are more non-working girls, and more Chinese working girls. Lots of bankers and lawyers. Better to bring your own girl. If you want an upscale experience, better to find your own girl (online Badoo, in wanchai, etc.) and take her out on the town. If you are traveling with your buddies, this will be more fun. There are lots of great places to take them, but you have to bring your own: wooloomooloo in Wanchai or TST is an upscale steak house / bar on top of buildings with amazing views, and good buzz. Felix on top of the Peninsula, Ozone on top of the RitzCarlton at the ICC (the highest bar in the world).

Best place to find non-Asians is either online Badoo or Escape in Wanchai. There you will find Russians and Colombians. But why come to HK looking for western women? Yes they are more expensive. And in HK you rarely get what you pay for. You get what you deserve! Note also that since the murder the police have been checking the girls' IDs more, so fewer are out. The girls are also more selective.

Last thought, you could try to book Chantik as an escort your first night. She knows more than anyone. Her knowledge could probably be worth the price as it will set up the rest of your trip. And from what I hear, she is amazing.

1. Inner LingDing Island: 内 伶 仃 岛 Nèi língdīng dǎo (between Zhuhai and Shenzhen).

2. Outer Lingding Island: 外 伶 仃 岛 Wài língdīng dǎo (closer to Aberdeen Harbour and Lamma Island).

I have not heard reports of WGs at either of these islands previously and I am reasonably certain there are not loads of BBS's (barber shops that don't cut hair) at either island. They are PRC islands and I doubt that Laowai would be able to hire sampan to get to either island from HK.

All the time, I just don't, hardly ever at all anyway, going back 10 years or more you could talk to whoever you wanted, without that, this issue seems to have appeared in last 5 - 10 years, it is incredibly annoying, and hugely expensive if not careful, it is almost as bad as the pole dancing curtain places.
