Thank your all for the info. I think I may choose Merrilyn this time because it is more centrally located.

Jb.
Two hotels which are much nicer than Merrilyn and both right across the street (less than 100 M) are Purple Mountain and InterContinental. I would stay at those two places before Merrilyn.
Cross the street and you're at Siyuan, and down the block there's Sacrosa.
If you chose to stay in that area, I can recommend another sauna that's in Yangpu district, taxi ride should be around 20rmb. Better selection than these two places, PM for info and address.

Any Kind souls who wouldn't mind helping out a first timer? Attending an exhibit at the SNIEC and would want a Hotel location that an easy Metro ride to SNIEC but at the same time a short cab ride away from the night spots and some Suanas.
In addition to my question, is this site or the SNG site accessible in China / Shanghai without the need for any VPN things?
In addition to my question, is this site or the SNG site accessible in China / Shanghai without the need for any VPN things?
It is hit or miss. I have accessed this site via the marrott in Pudong but cannot via the Hilton in Puxi. SNG seemed to work in both areas. I have been told western hotels are better than the Chinese ones in this regard. I don't have any Chinese hotel experience however.

Hey folks!
Can you please suggest girl friendly 4/5 star hotels near Judy's / Manhattan?
Also, what is better. Sauna or pick up bars?
Thanks,
Sam.

Though I don't know of any saunas around this area.
But you should have no trouble getting a cab to take you to the Intercontinental right across SiYuan Sauna.

However, if I will do anything dodgy like bringing someone back to my room, I'd prefer to stay away from other conference goers who may figure out what I am up to. Haha.
But more than that, Kerry is pretty expensive especially if there are big fairs going on.
I'm actually thinking Jing'An Temple area. Same line 7 as the Metro Stop near SNIEC. Anybody know any Saunas or night spots near that area? I've done some research but have absolutely no idea what's in what area.
The 5 star entry for hotels in the JingAn Temple area is Hilton. It is within walking distance to Line 7 subway, but more importantly, to Judy and Manhattan. A basic room will cost you around 900+ rmb a night (pretax) if you book through Ctrip. A cheaper hotel will be Equatorial around the corner, about 6 to 700 rmb (pretax) . An even cheaper one is Shanghai Hotel, where the famous Shanghai Hotel Sauna used to be (but the sauna is closed). A room there is around 500 rmb (pretax, 4 stars still). All three are closed to the pick up bars mentioned. And there are a few MP in that area. (HJ and BJ) For saunas, if Kang Ding reopens, it will be close enough, but Sacrosa and SiYuan are 6 ot 7 subway stops away on Line 2. Red House is about 20 rmb taxi ride away if there is no traffic jam.
My regular place near South Shaanxi and Xinhui has been closed for a few days now. I also noticed another place down the street hasn't reopened since CNY.
Is it windy anywhere else, or is LE clearing house in this part of Jing'An?
I'll be leaving SH soon. I just wanted to say that #76 at Spring off of Maoming is the best I've encountered in China. Nothing extra, but her technique is amazing. She's a serious wrangler.
Regarding VPN's: Pretty much every $100 home router built in the last 3 years has VPN capabilities (using OpenVPN). If you know what you're doing, it takes about 10 min to setup. I think it's much safer than a paid service because, what's CGov going to do? Block out American ISP's and essentially crippling their own Internet in the process?
Anyways, back to my day.
Stopped by Shaanxi 851 in the early afternoon. Unfortunately, they appeared closed (chain link on the door). Did some scouting around the area. The foot massages next door looked legit (you could see rows of people getting foot massages). There are some barber shops down the street, but they looked legit as well (one of them was iffy, but I didn't feel like trying my luck as I don't need a haircut). Went to Min and got a standard he. There was a curious looking spa (with 2 pink uniformed girls standing outside) across the street from Min. Decided to check that out as well. It's fully legit; for Y100, they offer a full back massage. Girl is probably low-mid 20's, fully clothed but obviously good body. The place is also upscale and clean on the inside. Girl did give a nice back massage with a full exfoliation (if you have back acne, you should check it out). Hurts right after but now my back feels hella nice. If I lived here, I'd probably go to this place once a week for the exfoliate.
Later in the evening stopped by the "spa" massage place (not Spring Massage) near Asset Hotel. Picked a different girl this time. Got a youngish (mid-late 20's) spinner with A cups. Just arrived 3 days ago from the North. Ironically, she's friends with the previous girl I tried and got FS from. So no surprise that FS was offered from her (plus she hates CIM). I offered the same tip (300). She looked surprised, so I assume I could've gotten it for a bit less.

Sam.
Try Paramount. About 1 block further away than the other hotels mentioned but the elevator bypasses the lobby and no ID check and no 'walk of disgrace'. It is about 40% cheaper than the Swissotel (which I have stayed in the past, it is very nice but expensive) - and if you get one of the upper level floors at Paramount it is very good.
I like Manhatten as you do get to inspect / interview the girls before. And they all speak English. Have been to a couple of Sauna's (Bodi) - very good but miss the conversation.

Hi,
How far is this hotel (Paramount) from Judys / Manhatten? Walkable?
