Again, the salient point here is that you wanted every subject matter expert to say something like "I don't have a clue" when asked about COVID. That, of course, would have been the truth. But at what cost? How many times does a subject matter expert have to say "I don't know" before the vast majority of people start thinking "Why is he / she an expert? He / she doesn't know anything". And that's just as bad and probably worse. Because when the general public doesn't believe any subject matter expert, they are more prone to believe idiots who [B]really don't know anything[/B].

Everybody with a functional brain knew that everything about COVID, from how it spread to how to combat it, was a crapshoot. It didn't take a rocket scientist to know that when a health expert was asked a question abolut COVID, he / she was giving their best guess based upon when they knew at the time. It made no difference if the statement was qualified or not. Everybody with a brain that I knew thought that way. Everybody that I knew who didn't have a brain thought otherwise.

The only people who though that those answers were definitive were people preferred to believe the lies they heard from politicians. "We have it under control", "It will go away with the warm weather", "It will go away without a vaccine", "It is just the flu", "Shoving a lightbulb up your ass will cure it".

Markets are once again down mainly because Biden has to put USA into a deep recession to combat inflation. Once again they will blame Trump. Here are the market numbers of Trump presidency with no inflation.

August 6, 2018. Dow 25,502.

Up 29% in 19 months.

January 20, 2021 Dow 30,996.

Dow up 59% during Trump presidency for the four years in office even with the worst pandemic in decades.

Now let's look at Biden record.

August 6, 2022. Dow 31,145.

Even with the market first quarter increasing before Biden policies took effect the market is up less than 1% in 19 months. And the market continues to go down every day. Obviously Biden policies are not working. Retirees count on markets going up at least 4% annually to maintain their retirement. Obviously they are getting slaughtered.

Nasdaq is much worse down 14% since Biden took office.

Looking back Trump years were much better for everyone than with the Biden disaster.

The tradition is the Party not in the White House wins seats in Congress this time. Therefore, why would candidates from the WH party direct more attention to their alignment with the party in the WH?

That is not a good strategy to overcome one of only two "advantages" the Repubs have going for them; that long time tradition.

The only other Repub "advantage" being the Repub QAnon loons they installed in the positions that gather ballots and count the votes prepared to throw out likely Dem ballots and count only Repub votes.

Other than those considerable advantages, there is no reason Repubs should do anything but lose seats this midterm.
