I read EgyMonger's post about the FL girl that demanded payment up front. I would bet that all of us have dealt with this issue at one time or another. It can be tough negotiating through it. And while we all certainly agree that we don't want to pay up front--and while this girl may have been an absolute *****, there is no excuse whatsoever for "giving her a good slapping" - I don't give a damn what she did. If that had happened stateside, EgyMonger probably would have been prosecuted for assault. I can see how this must have been handled-- when he brags about giving her a "good slapping".

In other countries, yes. But not Indonesia.

I'm not saying the chick should be slapped like the old Yankee Doodle Dandy Jimmy Cagney used to do to the chicks in his movies when they got out of line, thrown off a cliff, or physically abused in any way.

However, I would refuse to pay up front, tell her shame on her for not specifying that in the bar. Because now she has wasted both of our time, and ask her to leave. I would prefer that Indonesia retains it's charm rather than end up like places in the Western world where the girls demand the money up front then provide the worst service possible (don't touch me here, don't touch me there) because they already have their money. It's the same thing with contractors. If you are getting work done on your house, I recommend you do not pay the contractor the full amount up front. If you do, you will regret that.

I've never have had a FL ask for money upfront. I've only had one bad experience in Jakarta and it was on my recent trip. I picked up two girls for a threesome, we agreed on 600 k + taxi fare for short time. One girl was great and the other one was horrible. I gave the good girl a 200 k tip while the other girl was in the bathroom and put my finger to my mouth, so she wouldn't say anything to the other girl. As they were about to leave, I then gave them 50 k for the taxi. The bad girl was complaining that it wasn't enough and demanded more money for the taxi plus a tip. There was no way that I was going to tip her for her lousy performance, I then reluctantly took back the 50 k and gave them a 100 k taxi fare. She still complained and wanted more money. I had enough and took back the 100 k and told them to get the fuck out. The girl who I gave the tip to was angry with her friend and tried to convince her to leave, but she refused to leave until I gave her taxi money. I then threatened to call security and they immediately left.

But I've had a broken wine bottle, tiles and wall painted with hard-to-remove stains of red wine, a broken laptop, vase, mirror and door handle all as a result of her fit of rage. What am I supposed to do? Cheer her for causing upwards of 5 million in damages? A local or Asian monger could have done much worse. Anyway, I hope this isn't a trend of things to come and I just got unlucky with the whole upfront payment thing.

When I can, I like to pay upfront in dodgy places, I have been caught out a few times with extortionist bills at karaoke, spa, fish-bowls, massage, fuck-hotels after the deed. However I always tip for good service.

Last time I was in a dirty little fishbowl in the Darmo Pk Ruko SBY, the girl gave a very nice GFE, so I tipped her well, she was such a sweet little thing and was genuinely surprised and happy.

I see there are comments in the bali thread about tipping amounts. Well as far as tips go. I don't give a flying fuck about ruining the market and giving a girl a great tip for great service. They already think bules have alot of money and give tips, so is my occasional good tip for great service going to fuck anything up? - if it does I don't care. Its a service industry and I reward accordingly. Seriously some of you guys quibble over $10 usd for a girl who has no employment prospects, who has a working lifespan of maybe 5 yrs, who is risking her life with STD's, who is sooner or later going to get pregnant to 1 of the 8 guys who fucks her a night and who is doing one of the most degrading jobs in the entire world!

Bad service = no tip.

Back on topic. As for freelancers, same here I have never pay beforehand. Never been asked, but the response would be the same as Egy's.

I have been asked upfront for cash for rent, medical, schooling - (segway coming- this week even before meeting a Skout girl it happened. She wanted 700 k for rent and no sex? Just meet for coffee and hand over the mula!

If the girl had no fear about calling the cops it must have meant she had connections and felt reasonably confident that they would back her up, especially when they see that the guy lives in a nice apartment and is clearly flush with cash (and I will pass over the question as to why anyone in their right minds would pay $150 for a bottle of wine, it's like paying $1000 for a call girl, ie ten times too much for what you are getting at the end of the day).

What did you do to convince the cops to believe you rather than her? After all, the only thing they could see was a scene of some violence in which a girl was alleging, correctly, that she had been assaulted, how did you get past that one? Are you very eloquent in Bahasa Indonesia or did money talk?

For the rest of us the lesson is don't take call girls back to your home, why do you want them to know where you live and how much you are worth? You can get a bog standard hotel room in Jakarta for fifty bucks, you only need it for a few hours, you really don't need to impress the girls you know, they don't give you a better class of service if you ply them with expensive wine (as is evident in this case) just pay them the going rate and they will give you the same service as all the other johns get, whether good, bad or indifferent.

When you go to an MP or casa you have to follow house rules. For example in Colombia you pay after the deed whereas in India the norm is that you pay before and in some countries some places require you to pay before while others allow you to pay after. However, if you take a girl away from her place of work to your pad or a love motel the rules should be set by you and the girl despite what the norm may be in that particular city; it is best to set those rules beforehand. In such an instance I insist that that payment be made after service and inform her of that at the time of first contact. I do that in whatever country I am in. Fortunately, I have never had a chica agree to payment after and upon arrival insist on payment before. If that happens we will have an impasse and I will ask her to leave immediately and refuse to pay her taxi fare. However, if I determine that I am dealing with wacko I will count my losses and give her the taxi money. You need to do shit sometimes to prevent worse shit.

To mention it to the girl would be redundant (and just putting ideas in their heads) because it's always been the norm that the payment is after the service in Indonesia.

I think this one time for Egy will be a one off. I doubt any of us will experience it in Indo with a free lancer.

I would hate to think that we have to start doing full on negotiating not only for price, but also whether that money is up front or after, and also what is allowed during sex. That's always been the charm of Indonesia. You don't have to mention those things. Hell, until not too long ago, the girls didn't even mention price. The girls just went home with you assuming you would give them the proper "tip", and in the morning you would give them the proper amount. Most times the girls didn't even look at how much money you gave them.

Why keep pushing Indonesia to fall into the same crap category as the western world?

Booked my ticket to Jarkarta yesterday. But then, while going through this forum, I came across some posts on police check ups for ID, Drugs etc. This kinda scared me. I'm not the kinda person to take any chances on this. Would rather cancel my ticket and accept the losses (its non-refundable). I've been to Bangkok many times. Never had to worry about anything. In fact, I didn't carry my passport with me when I went mongering in Bangkok. I always kept it in the safety locker. Is it safe to travel in Jakarta without being hassled by the police for bribe? Will they stop me while coming out from a bar / club and ask for my passport (original)?. What about the drug checks? Scared after reading some articles on the web about drugs getting planted on you. I'm mostly a daytime guy and can restrict myself to places like Hotel Classic and Malioboro. Would really appreciate any advice on this matter.
