In addition, I use my Visa card to buy tickets on Cebu Pacific which is "Verified by Visa". After you imput your card information you will be redirected to another screen where you will need to type in your Verified by Visa password. Then it works for me.

I'm not sure if Mastercard has a "verified" system? And I don't think Cebu Pacific takes American Express. But I am successful in using my Chase bank-issued Visa card on CPs website. Only downside is Chase charges a 3% foreign transaction fee.

Not trying to defend UAL employees, but before you start bashing the UAL workers, you should check your ". UAL is NOT employee owned, it was in the late 1990's, (when it was also very profitable and the stock split 4-1). The airline filed bankruptcy in 2003 and those "grumpy" employees have been working under the same court imposed agreement since that time.

The "new" management, ie old CAL officers said they wanted a fresh start, and yet have not seen fit to finish the process of combining the groups, citing the employees resistance as the reason.

As usual the management runs off with a large bonus, leaving the workers behind to try to give a good service with less and less. Doesn't take long to figure out who loses in that equation. EVERYONE!

There is an annual fee, but they give you an anniversary free night at any 1 to 5 category Marriott family hotels to compensate. I like Cebu Pacific airlines. They have pretty stewardesses. They use 2 exits on most planes for fast exit. I pay the $5 fee for a reserved seat in the first 4 rows. I usually get a whole row to myself. I wish they flew to the USA. The only downside is the late hour on many of the flights I like to take: Macau – Clark and Clark nonstop to Cebu for example.

And those fees really add up.

Cal8[/QUOTE]Cal8, I think that is what is happening. I have so many miles on them, hate to go to another airline. I was sitting in business class last week from Honolulu to Orange County. The seats had individual video screens, with DirectTV. Problem was you needed to run your credit card through to watch anything. I mean, whats up with that. It is business class! And you have to pay for your entertainment.

Unfortunately, I most likely will still fly them.

And yes, to one of the commenters here, Catahy has been sliding downhill. Most of the asian airlines suffered when they lost their most lucrative routes, which were the short routes, that has been taken by the budget airlines.

I do inform visa of my plans for international travel and fill in the security department on the info, I often book cebu pacific flights in advance of informing visa.

Only trouble I have had with cebu pacific is getting them to change flights after booking or trying to book a limited super-promo fare when everyone in the Philippines is trying to book the same flight all at once. Best way is to visit a cebu pacific office and deal direct for any changes.

If the seats sold number is under the break even point the flight is cancelled and you will routed through Manila and put on the next Manila-Cebu flight and that can suck.

First, almost all (I can't think of one that does not use this system) airlines in North America and most larger ones in Europe use the seniority system when assigning trips to crew members. The way it is handled differs greatly at each carrier. You are correct that most of this is covered by union contract, but even the non-union carriers have similar work rules. You are also correct that at least at United, Continental, Northwest, and I expect before it is all said and done American, the pensions were either terminated or frozen.

Of course back in the "good old days" of regulated skies and age (plus a few other) discrimination, the flight attendants couldn't work past 30 and were not allowed to be married. They had weight and appearance checks on a regular basis. Whether it was "better" then, is a matter of perspective I guess. Certainly from an appearance standpoint it is hard to disagree that a 20 something slender cutie is much preferred to an over 50 battlewagon. Those pesky social issues.

If you have been on a airplane recently you know how full they are, well trying to ride "standby" is a nightmare and I can assure that "fly free" status is anything but.

By flying Ceba or Seair in the morning you arrive around 9 am and United, American and some Cathy flight leave between 940 and 1150 am so if you need 3 hours to transfer then does everyone take the pm flight arriving at 2330h and wait the eleven hour layover. It may be better flying into Manila and not worrying about custom tranfer. Also the three times I stayed in AC it was at the Pacific Breeze which was for a week because I split my time in Manila but now I spending all my time in AC. Since I will be staying three weeks I looking for a place that is more affordable. I would like to know if the DM Residente would be a better choose. The cost for a jacuzzi room is half of the PB but can anyone tell me about this place like the room size, condition and the staff. I heard that there is no safe in the room which is strike one but is it okay to keep my stuff there or will I have problems traveling at night. I hope you can help me.

I staid at the DM residente before but was one the villas, service was ok not great and its a good walk to fields from there in short you will have to trike it almost everywhere my advice try looking into maybe Royal Amsterdam or a new one call Galaxy hotel rooms look good and prices are great and right in the hart of all.

Thanks Dflostrife also thought of staying at a villa, but is it true that there is no room safes.
