I live in Medellin and have not been back to California in over a year but when I do fly into LAX I head directly from the airport to the closest In Out Burger located on Inglewood Ave and Manhattan Beach Blvd right off the 405.

If you get on the ground and discover that it is for sure that they misled you in emails about having visitors than please post the name of this place so other members do not have the same problem.

I have only used 'love motel / hotel' one time, it was my first trip to Cartagena over a decade ago, so I can't even remember where it was. I just had the chica pick it out. The chicas all know the love motels / hotels better than the mongers, you will not have any problems finding one, in fact I think I would walk around asking the chicas which is the best one.

Even if Cartagena is slower than prior to all this Covid crapola , it is still a paradise compared to almost anywhere else, Plaza de Los Coches (inside the wall by the clocktower after about 10pm), La Dolce Vita, Space, and I am hearing about this new spot called Delirium - you will have a good time. Its like this ; because you have never been there it will seem like paradise, for guys who have several trips it will seem slow but that does not matter to you, you will enjoy.

Since most guys try to find a chica friendly apartment I do not see many post about love hotels / motels but here us one from over a year about by Black Page, it is post #9368.

Hey,

Here are three important questions:

1. There have been recent trip reports, but skimpy on the grub detail. That's what we do. We Eat, Sleep, Drink and Play Hide the Sausage, but we are light on the the non pussy gobbling here guys, come on.

2. Do the chicas like old, jolly long bearded hippy types. Clean and generous.

3. Has anybody been to any cool historical sights. Particularly churches etc. There is more to mongering than just pounding away.

4. Do the chicas understand bad American Spanish IE mixtures of NY Puerto Rican and Arizona Sonoron on a 6 year old level.

Yeah, for sure you can spend a full day just walking around the walled city looking in doorways -- it's like the set from a "Pirates of the Caribbean movie". The awesome huge 17th century Castillo de San Felipe is definitely worth it. 1st time I stopped in CTG was 1974, well before it was totally wrecked by tourism (the beach all the way down to Boca Grande was just single family beach houses), I visited the Palacio de la Inquiscion, which was just amazing.

Cartagena is a much bigger place with over a million people. Basically all you hear about is Centro, Walled City, El Laguito and Bocagrande.

The more they like you the more they would be up for doing social activities outside of going to a love motel and screwing. That's what I've seen. Being able to converse in Spanish does help. It is not Las Vegas, where the only reason to go could be to gamble and evade from sex prison (for an American). It's a paradise for a photographers. People and colors offer countless photo opportunities. Watch Will Smith in Gemini Man running on the roofs of colored houses in centro and you will understand. Just stroll around and enjoy the alleys of Getstemani, San Diego, Santo Domingo. There are some little museums. Outside Centro, you might go to visit the Castle.

Just saw that PCR tests will now be required within 96 hours of travel. This makes things difficult for those flying out on Mondays. Anyone heard anything about this?

I will be working from my laptop 40 hrs a week.

Looking to monger on my free time.

I was in MDE for a few days a couple years ago and loved it.

For next month, if I have 2. 5 weeks, should I do MDE the whole time or go to Cartagena for a long weekend?

1. No to be too smart aleck but more being to the point; this site is not Yelp or TripAdvisor and so no one logs on to get or supply information about eating here unless they what they are eating is pussy and the answer is Yes I Do! You want a chica to be more relaxed around you than you should too. Fact: What chicas like second only to money is for someone to lick their pussy. On a serious note you are telling on yourself for not reading back very far because I myself have posted tips on restaurants as have others but each has their own taste so I advise you to scour TripAdvisor for that info: my one tip that I always leave though is the Colombian chain Crepes and Waffles.

2. Chicas definitely love Generous and that's all that matters. I suggest sticking to market prices and giving generous tips only if the chica is extra generous in her service or affection. Many guys fail to understand the dynamics of prostitution and get caught up in the thinking that chicas will not like them because they are old and fat (I am old and fat so that's not a dis) . And some guys get on here claiming that they get better service etc because they are better looking etc (which I want to ask than why are you paying at all?) Cartagena is an historical sight to see, the Old City where the clock tower is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the neighborhood across from the old city and to the East is Getsemani and Forbes magazine called it one of the ten coolest neighborhoods in the world. I read that the wall that surrounds the Old City would cost over a trillion dollars to build today; 3 times Colombia's current GDP. The most historic church is Iglesia de San Pedro Claver / Santuario de San Pedro Claver that also houses a small museum and was once sanctified by Pope John Paul II because of it's historical significance. San Pedro Claver went down in history as the first in the 'new world' clergy to minister to African American Slaves so you can investigate that if you are interested. Even in the United States there are organizations named for Pedro Claver. That is not the main church though, that would be Catedral de Santa Catalina de Alejandra AKA Cartagena Cathedral. IMHO none of these churches quite reaches that architectural grandeur of those seen in Europe or even the major cities in the USA but the churches in Cartagena are old and have that colonial look. Many Colombians travel from all over Colombia to be married in a church in Cartagena and the Santo Domingo Church on Plaza Santo Domingo (great place to sit and people watch) is popular for that, Cartagena Cathedral poses for a great photo at night when her dome is lit up. John Clayton mentioned already the Castillo de San Felipe and Palacio de la Inquiscion. There is also a gold museum that has displays of examples of the first gold artifacts that drew the attention of the conquistadors and a Naval museum that tells of the time 400 Cartagena colonials beat a force of 27,000 British who were partially led by George Washington's brother.

It depends on your own interests in to what parts and aspects of Cartagena would have an appeal to you. If it is architecture that you like than walk the streets of the Old City and walk the wall especial where it bounds the ocean. If it is also history that interest you than of course there are the museums mentioned. If you are into art than you cannot miss a walk through of maze of streets in Getsemani where the walls are covered with some of the best street art in the world. And do not forget to check out the Fernando Botero statue of a reclining plump lady in Plaza Domingo that always has a tourist standing next to it posing for a photo. If you are into literature than you should know that Cartagena was for years the home of the 1982 Nobel Prize in Literature winner Gabriel Garca Mrquez, one of his books was made into a movie with Javier Bardem called Love In The Time of Cholera and much it was filmed in Cartagena. If interested in Gabriel Garca Mrquez read the article in NYT below.

4. Most chicas in Cartagena and I mean the vast majority only speak and understand Spanish. At least for you since you have had some Spanish and understand the pronunciation of the vowels and such, when you use Google Translator you will not trip over the words.
