Let’s see whether I get this right:
If you as a white male don’t belong to the 2% of punters who will ever have a shot at a well-educated, affluent, “white” TG from a good family, maybe even running her own company in กรุงเทพมหานคร you most likely will enjoy your time with a -often- dark-skinned beauty from Isaan, meaning from a region some Thais even don’t consider being part of the “real” Thailand. (They refer to that province as “Lao”, or worse. They despise the Red Shirts and they despise the region. In fact, everything outside of กรุงเทพมหานคร is greatly suspect, maybe except for the Thai Flying Club in Bang Pra and the Country Club.)
We as hobbyist have, or had, more contacts with the Red Shirts presently and in the past than you might want to acknowledge.
The folks on the other side of the discussion- yellow shirts, high class, private schools, universities etc.- despise people from the poor rural northeast, their country music, dark skin, inability to “speak well” etc. All of you mongers who ever took your BG shopping at Paragon or Gaysorn plaza during the day knows what I am talking about: The looks, comments, disrespect of the sales people, most of them not even more educated, or more affluent, then the BG, but all with perfectly (bleached) white skin. It is so ironic that the Red’s camp is exactly at that intersection!
Now, the rural poor from Isaan are fed up with this crony system, and guess what, they are coming to the heart of the city demanding a better life. Maybe one not so distant day they are also fed up serving us.
