What was asshole Thaksin's political party called??? Thai-Rak-Thai (Thais Love Thais)??? Bullshit!!! I can't believe he let this happen. Someone should put a bullet in this guys head. I never hated anybody, but I hate this guy. He is destroying a country that I love and enjoy travelling to. I wish everyone on the ground there in Thailand the best of luck.

It is far more complex than that! Thaksin was corrupt, trampled human rights in every which way, but at least he paid attention to the poor, even if it might have been an election ploy. The Yellows are just as bad, arguably worse since they never paid attention to the poor and even look down on them, going as far as calling for an end to one-man one vote rule in some cases. As the elite(s) are going to steal anyway, the only viable solution is for the elite(s) (Yellow and Red) to steal 90% instead of 99%.
Thailand is going to have to get its act together. Bangkok might be clear (or about to be cleared) of the redshirts but the provinces in the North will be restive. There has to be a compromise.

The vast majority of Thai people were better off under Thaksin than under the Abhisit government.
Thaksin concentrated wealth into his and his cronies hands, and took care of the underclass.
The yellow coalition government concentrates wealth into a whole elite class of people and they ruthlessly exploit the other 98%.
By the metric of overall economic growth, Abhisit is more succesful. By the metric of overall well being of the population, Thaksin was.

Is Thaksin destroying your party spot, or is the greed of the yellows and their refusal to share the nations wealth with its people really at fault?
I personally don't know which approach is better in the long term, but I surely don't see how this disastrous cataclysm will be better than just continuing to work at a solution peacefully, or even just dissolving and holding an election so the people could decide democratically would have been.
There will be years, perhaps decades of conflict and insurgency now. The genie is out and no one, neither Abhisit or the Red's will get it back in the bottle for a long time now.

This morning at Khlong Toey there was a very bad vibe, and I could hear what people were saying. I did not feel welcome at their street insurrection party. Animosity (toward foreigners) is something that your rarely feel directly from Thai people, although, many people who live here know it exists.
It's madness right now in Bangkok. Madness and violence. You can see it in people's eyes.
