I notice from your posts that you have been venturing into my new neck of the woods (SE Asia).

I would suggest that you forget the MPs and go straight to the brothels. The MPs cost almost as much, and if you do get extras, probably more. All I got at the two I went was a HJ. I'll gladly pay AUD$20 extra to go around the world.

You might find it worth your while buying the fireworks report offered on the hookerlooker website. The all day pass for trains/buses/ferries is available on Sundays for $2.50, most of the good value for money brothels are outside the city centre areas.

not sure if you're planning to be here for nye, but as you can imagine, hotel prices rocket and availability is very limited. if, however, you're arriving in january, things should be back to normal. you might like to have a glance at wotif. com. a couple of suggestions would be the travelodge at wynyard (which i believe is new, clean and handily-located for all the touristy things) at see $125 pn; or on a lower budget, the formule 1 on william street, kings cross is a very basic option at see $80pn.

other isg members may correct some of my points, for its been a while since i went to any kx strip clubs, but the vibe at kings cross has, imho, changed for the worse over the years. the strip clubs used to be fun (if very tacky), and i well recall the audience participation you mentioned (i always had a mixture of jealousy and relief when some other punter was taken up on stage to join the show!). as far as i know, those days are long gone. last time i went the club was really scraping the barrel, with the odd cute backpackers, but mostly just sad skinny junkies or hardened old pros. watch out to for the bizarre local drinking licence rules too. if the girls do full nude shows, the club cannot sell full strength beer. a couple of clubs appear to have been refurbished recently (bada bing and porkys on darlinghurst road), so maybe they've improved? overall, though, the cross is now largely just a big drinking den, with numerous megapubs and an aggressive hardcore drinking attitude.

Chinatown is a good area to stay, there is a good range of accommodation budgets, from hostels to 4 star.

Foer a massage, try Babylon, Checkers or Chicago, all in that area.

Darlinghurst and Kings Cross are in the same area, so not much walking. You can catch a train from Chinatown area up there.

Travelodge Wynyard, for instance (though I've emailed them too). And with the exchange rate they're also about twice what I'd pay for one from that chain in say, London. Surrey Hills is coming up with a bit more in the way of options, but a quick skim of Trip Advisor reports is pretty well enough to deter me from cheapies.

Try the IBIS World Square. This is very close to Chinatown and very well priced. My mate stayed there a few weeks back and he paid just over AUD$100 per night and said that the rooms were nice.

With school holidays, cricket and the Sydney Festival on in January, there won't be too many bargains going, especially in the cheaper price range.

Yeah, the exchange rate is the killer, it effects our inbound tourism market considerably.

Sounds great. But quoting me well over AUD200 online. I'm sure some of these places would probably drop their price a bit if I could speak to them personally, but the costs of long distance calls would make it a false saving just now.

It's always a trade-off, I suppose, comfort & quality vs convenience (both location & ease of access from airport). And cost.

Just recovering from food poisoning so will leave it a few hours before hitting the booking engines.

This shop is advertising 30% discount special in the paper so I decided to go over and check it out. This is definitely not a shop for those who need discretion, the only entrance runs off a very busy part of Enmore Road and you can't help but run into other punters coming and going. Special prices are $65/half hour, didn't ask about longer times.

Decided on the slimmer of the 2 Chinese women available, Coco (mid-late 30's. Approx. 165cm tall). I was a little disappointed when the clothes came off however as she has quite pronounced stretch marks across the stomach. She started out with an ok BBBJ and tea bagging.
