However, a quick search shows an EEG was used, which doesn't "light up" areas of the brain. It measures the various types of brain waves in various places.

Having 20 photos, and a device doesn't really show anything. Was the study peer reviewed? What methodology was used to select the photos? What were the selection criteria for participants? How many participants? How diverse were the participants?

Ultimately, it doesn't answer the poster's question. Where do you go in Medellin to find the 10's who will be available to a short time visitor? I'm assuming he doesn't want to send a bunch of money to girls for several months first. The peer review process is to determine if the study was conducted correctly and if the conclusions drawn are consistent with the methodology. Perhaps an example would help.

In 1998 Dr. Andrew Wakefield published a study in "The Lancet" showing that the Measles, Mumps, Rubella vaccine caused autism in 12 children.
