I have to admit that I do not go to expensive places in Jakarta like Alexis or Malioboro very often. I spend $300 to $500 every time I go to Alexis, so I try to avoid it. I probably spend about $200 each time I go to Malioboro. That may not sound too bad, but that is only for a couple of hours of my time and I will certainly shag more than that one girl during the day and night. Even going to the more down market places, I still spend an average of between $250 and $300 a day on women+food and drink+taxis in Jakarta. I spend about the same in Bangkok on food, drink and women (taxi cost is of course higher in Jakarta than in Bangkok).

Yes, getting a taxi with a fair meter price late at night in Jakarta can be a hassle relative to the ease of transportation you find in Bangkok. The main drawback of Jakarta is the fact that moving around town to get to the different entertainment venues is normally a pain. In Bangkok, it's very easy.

I got infected by the Asian bug, specifically the BBFS bug. I doubt I will ever step a foot in Rio again even if the US dollar hits 8 Reais.

I did have a cheat sheet with the name of at least 10 places to visit, 2 for every day while I am there in Jakarta. I went to Alexis because it was rated as the best. Obviously, that wasn't the case. So I cross all these out my notes.

Regarding cheaper venues such as King Cross and others, and as Egy Monger corroborated my statement, if you are not local, then there is a big chance that you will be refused service. So, again, cheap venues such as Travel / Classic hotels were deemed not worth my time.

So, Maliobore, it was. It also helped since I was staying at the Grand Mercure Harmoni, which is located 5 minutes walk from the place. Good services, good looking women, fair prices for FS made me go back 3 times. I did not care too much about the management and the waiters though, reminded me of the assholes at Rio's Terma Centaurus.

I did cut short my trip by one day and decided to fly to BKK instead.

Jakarta places a distant second to BKK in my book. But it surely beat the chaotic crazy city that is Manila.

Although there have been the very occasional cases where a girl may have made a face indicating she did not want to go with me, I don't agree at all about the girls at the lower to mid-end places consistently refusing service to foreigners. That just isn't the case for me, nor for any of my "bule" friends, who range in attractiveness from attractive to not so attractive (mentioned so as to cover the range of possibilities for refusing a session).

I went with a bule friend to King Cross a little over a week ago, and we did not have any problem there other than the fact there are other places with better looking girls for less money (that was my first, and probably only visit to King Cross). My impression (again keeping in mind I have only been there once) is the girls will not approach you but rather you have to tell a mama- or papa-san you are interested in a particular girl. Once or twice I was asked by a papa-san whether I was interested in picking girl, but that was about it. There is a fine balance though between a locale where the mama-sans seem to always want to bother you (e.g. , at Classic) and a locale where they may err in the other direction. But I did not find King Cross inhospitable. I did, however, end up doing my session on the massage floor (keeping in mind the massage included full service).

Having said this, again I have only been to King Cross once, and don't have enough experience there as to whether there is an anti-bule bias. But even if there is, that should not be generalized to other locales in Jakarta, including the cheaper ones. In this regard, I note Egymonger's comments were only about King Cross, not other locales.

Moving to Malioboro, it is not a bad place, and I like the facilities there, but to my tastes there are places that are both cheaper and at which I get better service. So, Malioboro for me is a place I might go with a group of friends to socialize and hang out (and possibly take a session) but if I'm out alone I go elsewhere.

And I should mention that when I was last in Jakarta, a friend who has extensive experience mongering throughout the world visited for a few days (he now lives in Asia although is an American). I just heard from him that he enjoyed the mongering so much he returned for another few days. During his earlier trip, the most expensive place we visited was King Cross, and neither of us experienced any problems including any refusals at any of the places we visited..

You are definitely safer at places like Malioboro and Alexis when it comes to the chance of not being refused service - and the service at those places is quite good. I've never been refused at Hotel Classic either, but I consider the service there to be horrible at least 80 pct of the time.

King Cross is one of the places not too many foreigners visit. I haven't been refused there yet, but I can verify Egy's story because I was with Egy the other night when the chick refused to go with a Bule (white guy). The chick I picked at King Cross that night loved Bules and told me her nickname was Ana Bule because she normally goes with any bule that comes into the place. She told me it wasn't often that bules did come there, but she was happy when they did. It just happened that the one Egy picked didn't want to go with a Bule. She was very tall, hot, and obviously had a high opinion of herself. I thought she looked more like an admin secretary in one of the offices I work in around town than a hooker. We had just seen her coming down the elevator from a session with a local indo guy, so she obviously wasn't shy to go with Indos. Unfortunately, once the other girls saw that girl refusing, they all started refusing to save face. Both Egy and I have been there in the past and we have taken girls there with no issues. When the girls refuse to go with a Bule, they normally refuse either because they are scared you have a big dick or that they can't communicate with you. They are normally girls fresh out of the kampung (village) who have never been with a bule before. Since Egy and I both speak bahasa, it was most likely due to the fear of him having "kontol besar" (big dick). But that girl was well maintained, was obviously not fresh out of the kampung, and was acting quite strange, so who knows? Maybe she had a bule boyfriend in the past who broke her heart.

It's not just King Cross, I have had girls refuse to go with me at various places around town where bules are not frequent customers. It used to happen frequently in the North Jakarta area back in the late 90's and early 2000's, but not so much anymore since many more bules visit those places now than they did back then. The first time it happened to me was in a place that I go now very frequently. But back then, every girl in the place refused to go with me because they thought I would have a big dick. It actually hurt my feelings at first. However, after a couple of visits there with my indo buddies from the office, one girl agreed to go upstairs with me (because the indo guys I was with talked her into trying a big dick). I couldn't speak bahasa back then, so I didn't know those guys had convinced her I had a big dick (those guys had no idea because they definitely had never seen it). I walked upstairs with the girl, and as soon as she locked the door, she said "show me your dick". She even said it in English! I took down my pants and was greeted by a look of disappointment on her face when she discovered that I do not in fact have a big dick. Considering how girls like to gossip, the word got around immediately, and after that all of the girls there were happy to go with me. Living in Jakarta I completely agree with Egy and Smoothy. You grossly overtipped, you let yourself get ripped off by taxi's, you made totally wrong choices of places to visit and you got ripped off with a 250 k lap dance. I'd definitely recommend Tiradentes to do some more reading before visiting any new location; your trip was not successful due to your own lack of research. You crossed all companies that belong to the Alexis group from your list just because you had a (due to your own fault) bad experience at Alexis? That's like saying you had 1 lousy flight with Singapore Airlines now you'll never fly Silk Air.

Jakarta is a goldmine and is still relatively unspoiled especially if you are able to speak Indonesian, although you shouldn't have too many problems if you don't.

Come to think of it, no need to do any reading or research, stay in BKK, more for us.

Suppose you were in Jakarta during the period around Eid al adha. It's a major religious observance. Should one expect major places (Alexis, Malioboro, etc) to be running as usual all week, or will everything be closed? If closed, would it be just for the major observance days?

Idul Adha is a bad time for our hobby (obviously if you have someone lined up it's fine) all the bars are shut on the day and more importantly the night before (ie Wednesday evening) and you don't want to find yourself out on the streets on Wednesday after about 7 pm as the taxis disappear like snow in August.

It's a tricky couple of days because it is never as heavily advertised as Idul Fitri, however by Friday normal service should be resumed.

Jakarta is a crap city by any reasonable standards, in one respect however it is among the most fantastic cities in the world and in that respect there is a goldmine of helpful knowledge here and all you have to do is carefully read it to enjoy what this town has to offer.

If you fail to do so, well you must take your lumps. Bangkok would appear to be the safer, wiser option.

The internet speed back then was crap as it was all very slow dial up and lost connection every few minutes. It's drastically different now. One year, we found out that Hotel Aryaduta still had massages going on, but I don't think they still do (they are a waste of time anyway).
