When you factor in the statistical error as well as the other variables like converting from cms to inches, age at which height is measured, maturation rates, quality of food etc filipinas can be classified as shorter even than women in Guatemala. OTOH, they can also be classified as on the 4th or 5th rung from the bottom.

Papers quoted in Yahoo Philippines hardly require serious analysis; I posted it more as a light-hearted diversion. The data is hardly likely to influence global politics.

Philippine friend of mine was going to travel to Hong Kong with the intent to stay there for few weeks. Her and lot of other people, including elderly and even guys, got offloaded and were not allowed to fly. She said the "immigration is now strict because of Duterte".

Quality of health care is undoubtedly an issue, but all the sugar and salt in their recipes can't be helpful. And where else do you find people gravitating to eateries with all you can eat rice?

I have always suspected that the many short Filipinos is related to lack of protein in children's diets, hence, the legs and other bone structures never get very long.

There are a variety of reasons as to why (both for the inbound country and for phils -- protecting pinoy).
