Is Vila Mimosa red light district in Rio still functioning? If yes, how can I get there from Avenida Rio Branco in Centro? If no, is there any current red light district similar to Vila Mimosa. I read about Vila Mimosa. I will like to visit the place or any other similar places in Rio.

I passed by XY Zen (ex-Tigresas) on Wednesday. Only four girls to choose from. I wanted to try Bonbon which I heard was very nice. Unfortunately she has married and doesn't work there anymore. Had been at Centaurus on Thursday and have to say that Monte Carlo atmosphere was so much better and more good looking girls. I really felt the vibe at that place and it reminded me why Rio is still the best place in the world to monger.

BTW. The beaches WILL BE PACKED, it's summertime and a great time to be in Rio. I personally prefer Recreio, Praia the Tijuaca & Ubatuba over Copa but I know some locals who live there so I'm there at times in the afternoon.
If you look for apartments or hotels on the internet they will quote high prices. If you look to stay in Copacabana or Ipanema then you will pay high prices. If you are willing to stay in Gloria, Catete, Lapa or Centro you can just catch a cab into town and walk around until you find a decent place. You can easily find a place for less than R$150 (73 bucks) and many places are much cheaper. However, you will be far from Copacabana & Ipanema and it's not the best area for a tourist who has never been to Brazil and can't speak Portuguese. Then again you'll be closer to the casas and Termas in Centro and nothing is too hard if you are the adventurous type.
Sometimes you just have to say "fuck it", hop on a plane and figure things out when you get there. If you don't like Brazil then just don't go back. Or you could just do the same old thing as usual. 'Tis up to youl.

You right I travel around the world now for the past decades alone, and I guess it started when I use to work for the Airlines before I joined the Navy I use to think you had to have a crew of guys to go places with BUT so many times they wouldn't have the money or some other excuse so I said fuck it! I took my first trip to Rio last month and just loved it. I am 43 yrs old and in very good shape with blonde hair and blue eyes and am not here to pay for sex as I have never done that in my life nor will I.
