The timing probably depends on the motive of LE.

If there is a political agenda from higher-ups, which usually is in the form of some arrest quota.

Then LE will target a place when there are lots of customers.

If the primary motive of the bust is personal / financial.

Say to extort money from the club owner by demonstrating there is a new sheriff in town.

Then it makes more sense to keep the raid as low profile as possible, preferably out of the news.

So they would raid at a quiet time.

Quick sauna report from three different trips. This is the sauna that is located in Wugong Hotel on the 9th or 10th floor. I can't remember the name of the spa itself, unfortunately.

Visit #1:

This was my first Chinese sauna experience. Changed, showered, was shown to a room to sit and relax. After sitting for a few moments, a manager-type gentleman appeared and greeted me in perfect English to explain pricing. A couple of additional points worth noting:

The reasons for the plethora of raids in many cities since Xi Jinping assumed power were to help destroy the cash flow and imprison the Xing Zemin political faction 'tigers' (Xi's 3 Vices Campaign. Drugs, prostitution and gambling).

Many 'windy weather' periods or specific raids are broadcast beforehand and few managers, WGs and mamasans are arrested. These may occur where a police chief wants to show his power for any one of a number of reasons (new appointee, increased corruption fees, etc).

Sometimes there are fully pre-planned operations where a big show of force is used, accompanied by CCTV teams and the PSB's own media guys. These may occur when investigative media have been publicising particular red-light area and residents have been complaining. This is also when a few customers [B]may[/B] get arrested, but generally they get off lightly if they play the game.

BTW, I forget whether it was 2009 or 2010 when CPC ordered that there will be no public shaming of customers of KTVs, saunas, etc.

Everyone finds value in SNG.

My thought is Steven runs it the way he runs it. If you don't like it, then you can run your own site anyway you want.

I think he takes feedback and makes changes. He spends an enormous amount of time providing a highly valuable service to those of us who can't speak and read Chinese.

He is not doing it for charity. And anyway he wants to do it is fine by me.

There are a number of things on his site that would like him to differently. I have made some of these suggestions directly to him. But in general unless I was his business partner or thought I could a better job, the best thing I can think to say is Thank you for the information you provide. It is useful and valuable to me.
