1. Religion and conservative values in society (this is on the retreat all over the world with liberals).
2. The economic benefits for women to stay married and hold onto a husband with social and / or economic power. At some point in time and in some countries this point will also get redundant. But in a way this is essentially just disguised prostitution already. And the reason women in many countries goes for this form of prostitution instead of charging for single events is that it is more valuable for them and the gains can be higher. But I feel society is trying to rectify this also. Ironically through liberating women and equal pay.
