Another example. Those fixed-rate taxi services at NAIA. When you arrive and walk out the door, they are the first vehicles you see, and there are touts everywhere. A regular white taxi was about p275 to Makati. The yellow taxi was about p375 to Makati. And the fixed-rate taxis (usually a minivan) were a fixed p1500. Usually I took a white or yellow taxi. But there were times when the taxi line was almost an hour, and in the rain. Much better (and faster) to take the p1500 fixed-rate taxi sometimes. Your time is worth more than the $30 ride (especially after a long-bow flight).
