Ho Chi Minh City - General Info

I was in HCMC for the first time in June. Stayed for 2 weeks. As a "newbie" to SEA, I was taken to a club in town called GOSSIP. You may want to try it out. Very nice place and outstanding treatment by staff. Any taxi driver will know where it is. The place is always loaded with "pros" and "non-pros". They are easy to spot, just look for any table with several females not accompanied by males. They will definitely be making eye contact with you since you will most likely be the only non-Asian customer. Negotiate as best you can. They always start out at $80.00US for ST and $100.00US for all night. There are definitely 9's and 10's but I still find that TOO PRICEY! I did meet one gorgious 22 yoa that had just started "working" and negotiated 4 days/3 nights (24/7) for $300.00US. Definite bargain in my opinion. She wasn't very experienced and had to be taught a few things but was eager to always please. That's what I like! Bonus - she was my personal tour guide for 4 days. Every time we stopped back by the hotel she would shower and then ask "Make Lub?" Of course you know my answer.

My 1st time there about 1 year ago- got a hotel room at Vien Dong...overpriced and strict enforcement of guests. Hung out with the backpackers even though I'm not one and considerably older- hung out at Alley Boo and met a bar tender. Saw she was looking at me alot.

Next night went back and said hi to the same bar tender and she introduced me to her hot friend who knows no English. Bought her a drink and stayed nice to both, gave them my phone number.

Met them next morning and went bowling at Diamond Plaza and met with the hotties "Vietnam boyfrend" and the bar tender as my "date". After that the guy had to go back to his nearby city so I'm walking with both girls and the hottie says she is tired. I say come to my hotel room and rest. So both do.

I snuck them past security as there was a commotion in the lobby as a bus full of tourist came in. They went into the room and both immediatly jump into bed. They tell me to take a shower and having read previous posts, I knew I better take all my valuables with me. I told them they go 1st and they both showered together. I took that time to hide some bigger stuff and put the smaller stuff in my pants pockets to take in the shower.

They came out and I went in and stupid me, forgot my brand new mobile phone so the shower was in record time of about 1 minute and I raced out to find one making long distance calls to her parents. Thus I had no problem with that.

We all 3 hung out in bed and stupid me, respecting the "boyfriend" , did not make any moves that were probably expected. So 30 min. later the hottie had to leave and I gave her 100,000 for a taxi. The bar tender was also motioning to go and I grabbed her and said your staying. I started taking off her clothes and she abliged. She got on top and wanted to go without the rain coat, I stopped that and put it on and then went to town. She got the "A" for effort but her expression was that of deer in head lights. No BJ or forplay, just my satisfaction. Then we cleaned up and she left as I gave her 50,000 for taxi as she lived near.

The next day I asked her about how many guy's she had before and she had 1 other and broke up soon after. I apologized and she said no problem. I met some Vietnam guys at Diamond playing pool and they took me around town that night (a little risky since there was 4 of them and just me...reading the previous warnings). Ended up at Rain Forest disco (some hot girls working there and most have "after work service"). I saw a hot girl named Than. She is taller at 170 cm and with some meat on them bones unlike most. But she has a face and body that made me realize USA was not fighting for so called "freedom", they were fighting for the girls like her.

I went there every night for 4 nights at $5/ beer and just to say hi and dance a little with her as her beauty drove me crazy. On my 4th night I was told by another girl to offer her some money and she will go out with me so I did and she rejected me to my surprise- kind of made me mad. But she asked me if I want to go to another nearby town with her the next day (I told my company I needed to stay another 3 days).

The next day we took a bus and to a small town and was forced by the hotel to get 2 hotel rooms (at $30 each which was a rip off). This girl has been teasing me for the last 4 days so I had to really pour the charm to get some that night. After bumming around and cheap local eats, we went back to the hotel and we wrestled around on the bed. My knee "accidently" rubbed her in the groin area, there was some very small hip movements going so I knew it was over. A little delicate breast action and kissing and the clothes were off.

With the 4 days of teasing, I knew I made a mess on her as the lights were off but the TV was going. I did not realize she had a little of the period thing going. The next morning I thought I killed her in my sleep. We bugged out and I gladly left 50,000 Dong next to the stains to make a easy break for it.

There used to be some taller model class ladies at the Penthouse Bar at the top of the office tower next to the Riverside. Not sure if it is still there.

The BW Chancery is a very long hike from the action areas of District 1 and being a western chain will almost certainly mean no take home action. If you RTFF using the search function you will find a lot of references to hotels near the action. With a bit of diligence you can find a alternate hotel that suits you better and earns you some brownie points because it is cheaper.

The other place I forgot for high class model types is the 'disco' at the New World Hotel. They look good but they are also most likely high priced prima donnas.

Huynh Thuc Khang is pretty close to the centre of D1 and I would be interested to hear what it is like. You might have to take one for the team.

If you look back in July there was a discussion about the form in massage places in HCMC.

I find HCMC frustrating. I have been to the bars on HBT but found none of the girls appealing (mostly they're just too small). I've been approached by girls on motos but won't go with them, as I feel they are probably going to scam me or set me up.

I've been to one of the BBS near that hotel down Tran Hung Dao in Dist. 5 (forget the name, someone mentioned it a few months ago) . Got a massage, then was offered a BJ, but the room was not private and after bj for a few minutes, (she was constantly checking the WINDOW in the door to make sure nobody was looking) she said she couldn't finish, as they had more customers who were going to come into the room.

Went to a few other barbershops in that same area and they said that a massage would be $10 US. Most other places charge just 50,000 dong ($3 US). I knew that that didn't include the tip, and figured they were just overcharging me because I'm a foreigner, so I didn't try them out.

I went to TMK zoo area near Mitsubishi dealer but didn't see any girls. Maybe I didn't go late enough (8-9 PM or so), but I don't like to go out late at night, prefer to do things earlier. Went to the bus stop across from the Sofitel several times (also recommended by a poster), and have never seen any girls there.

I've been to a few places in the Pham Ngu Lao area and others that give massages, but in every case, it's the same problem. They all have WINDOWS in the doors and you cannot choose your masseuse. Not being able to choose really ruins it for me. I need to pick a girl I like, and I'm rather picky, so 9 times out of 10 I will be disappointed with the assigned masseuse. So I just don't go there. I also regularly look in the various bars in Pham Ngu Lao area, but have never seen any really cute girls who I felt like pursuing.

I've been to Apocalypse Now and there don't seem to be working girls there.

I've been solicited by some girls at the park near the Caravelle, but never saw anyone I liked.

I've had endless motos and cyclos tell me they could get me a girl but I don't trust them. I figure they'll get me a girl and then call the cops so they can get a cut of the resultant bribe.

Just an hour ago I was propositioned by two girls near Pham Ngu Lao, but they were unattractive. Actually, the best looking girls seem to be in the BBS.

I'd love to find some on-premises brothel or something, to avoid dealing with the hotel hassle. Or a real freelancer bar! Do these exist?

What about karaoke? Is that a way to meet some really pretty girls who might be available for more when they're not working? I wonder, can you CHOOSE the girl when you go to a karaoke place, or are you assigned one like in the massage parlors?

Has anyone been in those big karaoke palaces I see on Cao Thang in Dist. 3? From the outside, they almost remind me of Bangkok MPs (wishful thinking!) Wonder what goes on inside. I noticed that some of them have signs that say "Massage."

Are discos worth hanging out in? I went to that new one on Cong Quyen recently, just asked about prices. They said it was $5 for a beer. Is that the usual price in discos here? I could not figure out if they also had a cover charge.

Is there a disco with freelancers here, like New Century in Ha Noi?

A poster recently said go to the popular coffee shops in the afternoon. Hmm. Do you mean places like that chain of cafes, Trung Nguyen? What are the popular coffee shops?

On the other hand, the regular girls on the street are often incredibly appealing, which is why I'm looking for a regular girlfriend. But that's not so easy either. It's very hard to find someone who is tall for a Viet (5 feet one inch just won't do, 5'3" is my minimum requirement), pretty, age appropriate and can speak some English!

So...if anyone could steer me in the right direction I'd be grateful and happily buy you a beer (something I don't do very often. I actually don't like to spend hours hanging out in bars and discos, which may be part of my problem, but will do so if I can just determine which ones to go to.)

VN is a difficult transition from Thailand if you are used to easy availability of chicks.

You are encountering problems many of us faced on the initial visits to Vietnam. However, Vietnam is one of very few countries where time and patience really do pay off. Finding a steady "girlfriend" type will save you lots of money and frustration in the long run. However, there are quite a bit of establishments for those whose time is a constraint but be forwarned that you will not get the same "bang for your buck" as Thailand. Most of the cute "regular girls" you find on the street in HCMC are either dating someone or the mistress of someone. More likely the latter than former. The best way to monger there is find a local who you trust (easier said than done) that knows the scene. Mongering on your own without knowledge of the language will just bring about more frustration. Karaoke bars, discos, massage parlors, bars, etc. all will cost money. The key to these places is tip and treat the "mamma son" well. That and always say no when the girl is not to your taste. It may seem harsh sometime but you will never know what is behind door number two if you don't inquire. Motorbike girls are good quickie but you must always pick the hotel (and don't pick from the list the girl recommends) and pay at the end. Watch the wallet of course.

I can't help with p4p problems, but theres a website that I came across one day. Vietsingle . com could be a good place to try and find a girlfriend. It's a personals website with lots of profiles of Viet girls with photos. I been wanting to travel to Viet nam and teach english for a while now just so I can start meeting these beauties.
In a country like Vietnam for a women to not be married by 30 is not good for her prospects and also many of the young girls (20's) want an older man and all the benefits that come with it. Any way, I hope this helps and keep us posted on any success!
