Hi,
I am planning my first visit to CTG in early December for two weeks. My number two priority for the trip is plenty of sunshine. I have been checking the internet weather sites and they have been showing lots of cloud and rain in recent weeks. Is this correct? Does the weather tend to improve in December or would I be better off waiting until January? Thanks
On arrival in CTG I am planning to spend a few nights in the Hotel Almirante before deciding where to stay for the rest of the trip.
In CTG at the moment. Not too crowded yet, but it seems to be picking up as it gets closer to the end of this week with festivities going on and such. It is true that apartments are harder to come by and are more expensive this week.
Another thing comparing to last year the quality and quantity of girls seem to hve gone down considerably. Girls routinely ask 200K for un rato, 300K por toda la noche, no thank you. Dont pay more than 100-150 until after they leave and if you party with them they´ll stay til the morning. Overall P4P scene seems to be overrun by gringos though I didn´t see that many from US per se, I saw tons of johns from europe at GiroMatto the other night at least 4-1 ratio not in our favor.
I will return to Cartagena to try to score a freebie and just enjoy the beach the islands, but this certainly not much a p4p destination anymore. Now that we´ve Costaricanized Cartagena time to move on to other parts of the country (or pay big $$$ for quality paisas in Panama city).
The holiday starts today and runs until Tuesday. The town is packed and places are scarce. You will normally pay a premium for lodging at this time of year.
Sean, I could not disagree more. I have lived here now for three years. The quality and quantity of chicas continues to improve. They asked for 200K three years ago for ST. You can get good quality for 50-60K for ST. Just troll the beaches and streets. I got one for 30K in Centro a couple of weeks ago. I occasionally go to LDV and pay 100K for ST. I haven't been to Giro Matto for a long time. That place doesn't even start hopping until 2:00 am.
prices are cheaper for girls you get from the street. they ask for 80-100,000 but will take 40,000 pesos for ST. Steet selection is limited to only that girl, or look for another on the street for a half an hour. Often you just run into a nice looking girl on the street, talk to her and make a deal. Alot of the street or beach girls have body odor, from being outside for several hours, and are less refined. I had one go thru my frig without being invited, next time I will throw this type of girl out, period.
If you go to the night clubs, selection is much better, but the girls all talk to eachother, like us men do here, about prices. Almost like they are a union, with minimum prices. But the girls are more refined, better dressed, and you know you probably will not get scammed, because you can come back to the club the next night and probably see them there again.
Last month I had a girl agree to140,000 pesos TLN at LDV and then when I was ready to go, she said she wanted another drink and brushed me off. I then moved on to the another girl at the bar and negotiated with the other girl for 140,000 pesos also and said the first girl had agreed to that price. Next I watched the 2 girls talk to eachother, like a cat fight, and the 2d girl was criticising the 1st girl for agreeing to a price so low!
I ended up taking a 3d girl out for ST for about 120,000 pesos. Usually all the LDV girls will start out with 200,000 pesos for ST, about 300 for LT. I usually counter with 100,000 pesos and see what they say next. If they don't drop real fast I move on to another beauty. I probably should counter with 80,000 pesos as my first offer.
It is strickly business for the girls at nightclubs, but the best ones I have found were more shy and did not talk too much with other girls at the nightclubs. Some of these girls are more girl friend experience types and will end up being sweethearts that you want to spend more time with.
I'm no Cartagena expert but if you guys are paying more then $100,000K for long time you have lost it!
You guys have to look at it like this the average Colombian makes $15 to $20 U.S. per day, that is like $46,000 pesos! And you guys are willing to pay a protitute 4 times that amount?

This concerns me, there are too many guys pissing thier money away ruining it for the hardcore mongers, Th eexchange rate is like at 2000 cop right now, I remember when it was close to 2900, we have to be a monger union , those bar girls and escorts all collude in prices according to the exchange rate. I have paid up front several times without a problem and haven't had any more problems with street girls than club girls. In general the SGs are sweeter and have better attitudes than the club girls. They are also happy with much less money.
MDE is much larger with less tourists. You can, however, find plenty of non-pro action in any Colombian city including CTG. MDE is a very special place.

Both clubs were visited by heavily armed Colombian police while we were in them. It was so strange – about six guys walk in with body armor, machine guns, shotguns, and pistols – but after a quick glance, everybody just ignores them! Except the proprietors, who casually walk over and start chatting them up. Several of the cops then case the joint, walking around slowly and giving some people some attention, others nada. In each case the management is at pains to let us gringos know that “no hay problema” (there is no problem) it’s just a normal law enforcement show of force to make sure no bad guys get any ideas about laxity in the PD.
Several threads have mentioned La Tripletera, and we tried to give them our business three times. But every time we went in there, the place was completely empty. I don’t know what was going on, but there were no women, and there were more doormen and wait staff then there were customers. So maybe someone can enlighten me as to what was going on there in Oct 2005.

One of the bedrooms in our apartment wasn’t that great because it was set up with bunk beds. But the building is friendly, has a small pool, is right on the beach, and we had complete freedom to bring guests home. For two guys, this is a total bargain because the delux setting really impresses the women.
