Directions - from the corner of Shyris and Naciones Unidos, in front of Quicentro, walk 2-3 blocks down Shyris in the direction of the Best Western, pass Campero and a Renault dealership, at that corner is Espectador, make left, cross over, look for 817. No signs, just knock. I believe hours are 10 am - 6 pm Mon-Sat. Small house/storefront with only 3 massage rooms and a living room to wait. Masajistas aren't the best looking, but will do. $10 per massage (approx. 1 hr). HJ and BBBJ received, fingering and kissing allowed, for the happy ending, nothing more. Tips of $5 (no more) appreciated.

If Hotel Eugenia is that hotel right next to Guajira on Diego Almagro, that's a nice spot. I checked it out, as well as Hotel Cuba, in between drinks at Guajira one time. They quoted me like $65 or $75/nite, but where I was staying, Hotel Othello, is right next to the Hilton Colon and only $25/nite.

RE: the troll of BAQ. Just glad Jackson finally saw through all of his BS including the many alias. How funny would it be if in January some newbie pops saying that "all hotels and apartments for Carnaval are full in BAQ, but only I can book one for you. PM me."

I got a card for Body tonight and the cards listed as staying open until whenever, the guy I talked to said they open at around 10am also. The card says they open at 10am Monday through saturday. I thought it was funny that he was hanging out in front of CR passing out the cards.

The chicas at rojo, if you get to know them you could avoid even having to pay for TLN. I have one there that comes over to my place for no charge. Just got to invest the time into getting to know them.

I am arriving again 8/28 for my second trip.

Can someone tell me exactly what the name of the area (or cross streets) of papaya.net cafe area in Quito? It's right in the gringolandia area. Last time I was there I kept saying Zona Rosa but they never understood. I wanted to try to improve this time. I didn't write down the cross streets either. Most taxis know the cafe...but some didn't.

Also... I get in at 10:30. Is some place like Hotel Othello ok for coming in late? ie: is there staff working at that hour doing checkins? I am not going to have a reservation more than likely... stayed at Alameda last time the first night and moved to a hostel. I will go back to that hostel the next morning after I arrive.

The Papaya.net cafe is located on Av. Juan León Mera, and I believe the cross street is Av. Calama. Just to put it in perspective of sex clubs (since this is the ISG, after all!) the closest club would probably be Vibración, which is just a few blocks south of Papaya.net. So if you walk past Vibración, you know you're close.

I'm not sure where the Zona Rosa is, so I can understand why people you asked were confused!

I have no idea about the Hotel Othello, maybe someone else on here can answer that. Don't forget to post your trip reports on the casas you visit!

There's no "zona rosa" in Quito. It's Mariscal Sucre. This is why everybody else were confused. Some advice, you really might need to brings notes with you, or write stuff down. I do it all the time. I just plug the notes into my pda/phone.

Hotel Othello is open 24 hrs. Someone's always there. That doesn't mean that there are always rooms available. I suggest making a reservation. I hope you speak decent Spanish. It's primarily geared towards Ecuadorians and other Spanish speakers. Meaning, no one speaks much English. If you can communicate, they are very helpful with whatever, including chicas.

I will agree 100% with HH. I stayed at Hotel Othello last year. There is always someone at the front desk, but it is doubtful they will speak much English. But, if you speak elementry Spanish, they will be more than happy to help you.

I would think hotel othello would be noisy and a little dangerous to get to at night on foot.
I almost stayed there on my first trip but the location is too central. It's located right on ave. amazonas. Even around 8/9pm amazonas can get sketchy.

Sketchy? This area??? At 8-9 pm??? No disrespect, but are you sure you've actually spent time around THIS area on Amazonas? Never had a problem, even walking around Amazonas at 4-5 am. Even walked down to a casino 2-3 blocks from the hotel one late night during presidential inaugeration wkd, not a single problem either way. Now down by gringolandia, there's the transvesti element, as well as a rougher element. One block from the Hilton Colon, not.

Noise doesn't bother me much, but if inclined, they will accomodate your request for a room not facing Amazonas. Or just ask for a room on the 4th floor, if walking stairs at 9000 ft above sea level isn't an issue. I've done it as well.

I'm done bumping for this hotel. Just thought I'd give the board a very reasonable and safe lodging option in Quito. From here on in, I'm pointing EVERYONE to the Hilton or Sheraton.

I've been up and down amazonas up until 10pm usually arriving on a trolley from the old city. There are very few people on the street even at those hours. It's not the south bronx but there are sketchy beggar types walking around mainly *young guys asking for money.
Once I left the immediate mariscal area I hardly saw police. I think quito as a whole can be dangerous if your not watching your moves. One of those moves IMHO would be watching your surroundings on amazonas or anywhere out of the immediate mariscal area at night.

I have to agree that the mariscal area is not that dangerous after 9pm. I have always seen the police patrolling the area with huge dogs. Hanging out in the park after dark is not a good idea but amzonas is fine. Just be aware of your surroundings.

I am going to be in Quito the end of August for a month scouting out business oppts. If anyone is going to be in Quito, let me know and we can have a beer or hit a casa. Any of you guys that have spent a great deal of time in Quito know of the Expat bars? I would appreciate the info. I have done a little mongering in Quito in the past 6 months, mostly at 123. Colombia and Venezuela are my spots that I am more of an exprt having visited those countries 20 times or more and in Colombia know about every city that there is to know of decent size, but I am married to an Ecuatoriana, so that is why I am moving to Quito soon. Not necessarily.
It turned out that the other fellow was staying over in the colonial section of town
which he said also had a Papayanet cafe nearby (or something with a confusingly similar name).
This is something one might want to keep in mind when planning to meet there for the first time.

Mraughh, regarding Extasis, this is a nice place, expensive of course, you will find girls most of them from Colombia and some Ecuadorians, prices you have to spend at least $100 US, this is because there are rooms in this place and you have to pay for the girl (ranges from $80 to $120) and $20 for the room. Some of them have very nice bodies and treat you well. You can also try the Doll House (do not remember the address,ask the cab driver) but is on the same prices, of course, more colombians than ecuadorians, here the rooms are amaizing compared to some that I have visited in different countries around Latin America.

I don't know where I got zona rosa from. I know it's in other cities. I picked it up somehow when I did my research the first trip.

You're right. I do pack my phone with lots of details. Locations, names, etc. It works out well.

My spanish is good. No problem there.

I ran into this once myself my first trip. The taxi driver went past the area I was supposed to stop in and kept going. Straight to the highway. And I told him he was going the wrong way (as little as I knew of right and wrong there I knew he was wrong). He was headed for the other one apparently. Got him turned around finally.
