They will look at you as if you are crazy. Most will call it'Sosewer' because of their dislike of the people that participate in this open air sex market. Why do you think smart mongerers never mention ' Sosua' outside of Sosua. Dominicans look at ' Sosua' as the ' shame spot' of the DR.

Let me try another way to explain it. In the city you live in, I'm sure their is probaly a dope hole somewhere (where drugs are sold). Now when you drive by this drug hole I'm sure you don't have a good impression of these people and you might think negative things, does that mean you hate yourself?

If expatriates actually say the word aloud in such a way as to emphasize the "sewer" by rolling the final 'are' then they are probably just doing it so as to give other people (like their wives) the impression that they would not want to even go near such an 'awful' place.

With all the wrestling over Sosua lately, it caused me to ponder what the freakin' real attraction I have with Sosua. I know some people can equally comprise a list if negative points as well, but I lean towards being more positive. I'm not investing thousands of dollars in something I hate?

Personally, I love the beach. I've been to quite a few tropical type coast and Sosua ranks right up there.

Some of the locals in the various eating spots warm up to you when you are a repeat customer. Being courteous, a good tipper, and trying to engage them makes a huge impact.

In my opinion, with Sosua being so small, it seems like you get a "rep" if you stay in the area for more than a couple of days. What I mean is that the moto's, peddlers, beggars, change guys and even the hardcore RAT putas know how you roll. If you play your cards right, you will get respect and be left the fuck alone.

Where on Gods green earth is there an open sports bar in a beach side town with projection screen tv's, flat screens, and all kinds of women hanging out and available at your whim for a little of nothing?

I really enjoy sitting at Merengue Bar getting my sip on and chatting it up with fellow mongers, bartenders, and the feeling from the sharks swimming around trying to get your attention and / or eye contact.

Been to LA, Vegas, Miami, NY. I live in Chicago. I have been to some of the hottest parties ever and had great one night stands.
