Well I am going to make another great trip to the lovely land of smiles. Wonder if this one is going to be on par with the last trip! Sampled these ladies las time may see one or two again but I have an agenda set up on who's next. The 17th can't come fast enough!

the location is ideal. you can walk to beach road very easily, especially now that construction on soi 10 has been completed. from there you can catch the baht bus headed south to walking street. if you prefer the up-and-coming punter locations on soi lk metro and soi buakaow, you can walk there easily as well. and if soi 6 is calling your name, the baht bus headed north on second road is steps away. all usual amenities (7-11, laundry, restaurants, atms, money exchange) are close by. being near the food stalls and night market on soi buakaow is very handy when you want to grab a quick cheap bite.

the page 10 is a newer hotel with a hip contemporary vibe. it is patronized by tourists and families who are in pattaya for the standard beach holiday. but the place is girl friendly and i never had any trouble bringing a girl up to my room. no joiner fee. in my suite the mattress was rather hard and storage was rather limited. the rooftop pool area is very nice. there is even a little cafe where you can get drinks or snacks and a shaded area with table and chairs. i enjoyed using the wi-fi up there to get some work done in the afternoon. water pressure in the shower was ok, but i would have liked hotter water. wi-fi wasn't blazing fast, but it was reliable.

the air conditioning was connected to the card key, so it was off whenever i was out of the room. when i came back the room was rather hot and stuffy and i had to wait for it to cool down. moreover, the thermostat operated differently to most hotels. you have three choice for the fan speed: low, medium and high. there is no "automatic" setting. if u-turn on the air conditioning, the fan is always running. this is not good. first, the fan is really loud. so loud that you can't hear the television, play music or talk on the phone (even at the lowest setting). second, it is very difficult to achieve a comfortable temperature because the constantly-blowing fan makes the room too cold, even if you set the thermostat to, say. 26 degrees celsius. the only way to make it work is to manually turn the system on and off as required. this is a real pain in the neck. and when you're sleeping it's impossible. as the programmers say, it's not a bug, it's a "feature."

the main issue at the page 10 is noise. there is a beer bar complex at the southwest corner of second road and soi 10, and there are are two live bands every night. the first is at the corner, and the second is about 100 feet farther west along the south side of soi 10. in my opinion, it's the first one that's the bigger problem. the volume on their speakers is far far too loud for the small audience. even on a good night the band is playing to 50 people. it's a mystery why they need a "spinal tap 11" setting on the amps. there are two singers, a man and a woman. the man is worse is this regard. i theorize his hearing has been damaged by years of standing on front of over-cranked amps and he needs to have the volume jacked up so he can hear himself.

unfortunately, the other band, not be outdone, feels compelled to crank the volume on their equipment. the result is a "battle of the bands" taking place about 150 feet from the front door of the page 10. despite the double sliding glass doors and heavy drapes you're going to be annoyed by this racket until the beer bar complex calls it quits at 3:00 am.

i'm told the rooms on the north side of the page 10 hotel, facing the mall, are not as noisy. but i can't confirm that personally. i can report that even up on the eighth floor, even with double sliding glass doors and heavy drapes, the noise was irritating. if you're a light sleeper this might be an issue.

Ok, I do not come to Pattaya to go to bed early but for the nights when you do need some sleep that is no good. Especially on the last night, as I have a lunch time flight I need to be getting up at 7am so I may have to rule out Page 10.

so that is over 50, 000 people a year going just to this one clinic for std.
