Disagree With SpamHog That UpperClass Babae Shun Foreigners

maybe i have been lucky because i am a lawyer (although i hate being called "attorney" by most everybody so i do not volunteer that information except where advantageous to do so), but i have found upper class women in manila very receptive to having a foreigner as a bf. actually, quite often upper class folks want to introduce me to unmarried female friends, relatives etc.
sh lives in cebu, and thus likely knows better than me, but in my experience many upper class filipinas prefer foreign bfs to pinoys as it has more cachet (quite unlike in thailand-if sh's post was about upper class thais i would wholeheartedly agree, but imho filipinas and indonesians do not seem to suffer from that stigma.
Upper-class Filipinas like foreigners also!
well, i agree with the, " it helps to be catholic, professional and well-to-do yourself" part, but in my experience, even upper-class, educated filipinas are very interested in foreigner bfs. every time i go to the doctor, bank, attorney, other offices, meet rich filipinos at nice restos, parties, etc, i am always asked are you married, would you like to meet so-and-so in the office or a relative, etc. there is a well-to-do widow who lives in my condo building who always invites me to visit her rest house, go shopping in singapore with her, etc. (her treat!) and she is easily old enough to be my mother! so, there may be a class system, but i don't think it descriminates against foreigners as a rule.

i know of several instances where "widowed" or "marriage annulled" (divorced)
ladies of stature have turned to foreigners. it seems that many filipina actresses also seek foreigner "boyfriends" from what the tabloids say.
the previous advice you received concerning getting to know professionals through association with other professionals, likely other expats is probably your best course. yes manila with its "old money" families probably has a plethora of professional ladies, but don't forget the "queen of the south" cebu, lots of "old money" here and spanish mestiza's are some of the best looking women in the world.
it helps to be catholic, professional and well to do yourself.

NEVER send money to a girl you haven't met in person...
It AMAZES me that guys send money to a girl they've never met. I know girls, ones that I would even call "good" girls who see no moral problem with lying to guys over the internet for money. Girls who would NEVER try that bola bola with me, or any guy they met in person, yet, over the internet, it's ok somehow. It's Philippine morality. That and ANYthing can be justified in the name of survival.
Just don't send money to internet chicks. Even if they are good girls, they won't respect you if you do it and will always see you as a Moneyko. Generousity has serious diminishing returns here. If you give too freely it will cause you problems. They will respect you declining (in a face-saving way) and have more respect for you if you aren't a doormat!
Yes, she's either very good or she was taking the [CodeWord140] out of me. As far as I know she got hurt by some guy and she's been a little jaded since then. Told me she wanted a vibrator for Christmas. That really surpised me.
charry.: so seriously, are u gonna let me borrow something from u?
charry.: u can collect it back when u visit?
X: Up to you.
charry.: i really need it
X: OK
charry.: but i understand if u cant
X: What is your problem and what makes you think I can "collect it back"?
charry.: because i have my word... it will be a big help to me if u can
charry.: and i should keep the people who helped me... thats why i will do what i promise just to prove i am real
charry.: and maybe i can borrow again if i can get your trust and if i can already prove
X: What do you want to borrow?
charry.: cash
X: Well, getting late for me. Thanks for the chat. Good night.
charry.: ok
charry.: have a nice evening
It's not common sense to everyone...
X Man,
Unfortunately, this is not common sense to everyone or they wouldn't be sending money to girls from the net all the time. I think it's a good idea to pass along the knowledge I have gained from living here and learning the culture...that sending money doesn't earn respect, it only makes you a target. I really don't think that is common knowledge at least, if not common sense.
Well, thanks for the sermon. Now, could you please post something more useful than common sense?
Or, maybe tell us about these "good girls" who scam people on the Internet. What's good about them?
