It could not have been said any better!. Thanks for posting something that was very much needed.
As in Rome do as they do OK!
First of all to compare a Chevy to a Mercedez is apples and oranges! As far as driving up the prices, oh yeah!
I live in a small town in California called Upland! I paid $445 for my little 1800 sf home now in Los Angeles my home would cost damn close to a million, but would anyone in their right mind give me one mil for my little starter house here in Upland? Hell NO!
My sister lives in Los Angeles has a small 1200 sf home and this is on a 6700 sf lot and it is worth around $900,000, now could I move this house to anywhere else in the country and fetch the same price? With few exceptions hell no!
I break it down to them like this plain economics, you can leave with me for $100,000 or go home alone? But of course my approach is alot more dulce.
My current Novia makes $800,000 per month and per her she lives good, her mom is a tax attorney for the goverment and might make 2 mil per month and again according to my Novia mom is doing A OK!
One thing my girl told me that Gringo's are to quick to open up their wallets, and I listen to her! We are off to San Andres in two days, and I bull shit you not she is paying for her own ticket! OK OK her dad was a pilot for Avianca so the ticket for her is free!
Porque paga mas?????
Price to endure your company?
Though some of these girls may be desperate, especially if they're not the hottest or it's the end of the month and they need rent money (though most still live at home with mom and/or kid/s), no one has made note of the fact that the hottest girls will often always go for more not just because they're smokin, but because the buyer is a total turnoff and isn't going to score UNLESS he shells out the bucks. Though a gringo is somewhat of a novelty in Colombia, even in Cartagena (more so with blonde hair and blue eyes), more than a few of these girls have standards, and unless you're an attractive guy and/or have a good personality, you're probably going to pay more, or at least experience a real bidding war. Of course, there are always exceptions.
If you're at LDV at 3:00AM , chances are you're going to get your price, but by that time the best chicas are long gone. But if you show up at midnight and are corpulent, slovenly, awkward, hideous or ungainly in any way, you're the last resort of the hoochie mamas in the crib, UNLESS you pull out the pesos. It also depends on what you're looking for. If you speak fluent Spanish like I do, then you'd be willing to pay a bit more for a girl with a good personality (though most of them are so damn interesting because they've lived such crazy lives, especially those from the campo). At the same time, a guy with some linguistic dexterity and charisma is going to earn a lower price or pay none at all, and when you get it for free at a place like LDV (though you obviously still spend $ there or at a disco), then you know you're a Cracker Jack and can expect not only some good lovin, but some quality time with a girl you'll end up getting to know beyond the bedroom. It all depends on the dude, but speaking the language and having lived in Latin America on and off for over three years, I look to learn more about the people and places I encounter, as sex is never far or hard to find, though I surely have my physical preferences. I banter with the hottest girls in the place after getting a drink and reconnoitering the place, then pursue the most genuine and original.
For example, in October I was in LDV and waiting for a chica I spent the night before with, when this other hottie sat down next to me, said I was "guapisimo" and asked "te puedo dar un beso?" before shoving her tongue down my throat. She then leaned over and said into my ear, "Me encanta tener sexo por las pompis." (I love it in the backdoor.) Now, some guys might drool right there and pay 200K for that, but I was waiting for my muñeca and didn't want to spend any time with what ended up being the sluttiest girl I met in two weeks down there. What this chick taught me (along with plenty of others with whom I spoke), is that they often get bored spending time with guys who they can't communicate with, and will not only try to, but expect to squeeze more money out of them. (Of course, as many of you prove, this is not always the case.) She also taught me that although looking good and dressing well will get you far, speaking the language is a real clincher. Again, much can be imputed to the looks/personality factor, and though any aversions a chica may feel towards a monger, a good personality can certainly surmount them, but la lengua may be the greatest resource, especially for the thrifty.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, yes, you gotta have some dick control and not overpay, especially when anyone with a brain comes here first to verify prices before heading south. Even if you look like a troll, you'll find a counterpart anywhere down there, but if you want to get with the real mamacitas you're going to have to pay more. Plenty of girls say no to guys down there, and I attribute this to those overpaying which has allowed them to not only expect more dough, but be more picky when it comes to who they chill with. So bottom line is, don't overpay, there are more than enough girls to go round, and if you're a leper don't try to get with the honey babies and don't be so damn impulsive. It makes me think some of these guys haven't been with a girl for years and just say yes to the first price they're quoted so as to just grab the girl and head out, hoping they still remember how to work the machinery. THINK ABOUT THE REST OF US AND NOT JUST MR. JOHNSON!
Perhaps the most important lesson learned is, speaking the language is the ultimate ace in the hole. KNOWING SPANISH IS PRICELESS. I've been all over Central America, Cuba and Mexico and I find the people in all those places to be quite pleasant, especially the Mexicans, and I find that my personality translates perfectly in Spanish, perhaps better, which has afforded me the most incredible and unbelievable experiences of my life south of the border, not to mention more friends and chicas than I know what to do with. Colombians are indeed as gracious and charming as they say, they speak excellent Spanish (which is important if you know how bad they speak in the Caribbean/Central America), and they left me in awe from the moment I landed in Bogotá to the day I left Cartagena.
I highly recommend learning some Spanish, especially if you really want to learn something about Colombia and its people besides how well the girls can grind. I never got so much tail with so little effort in my life, and I've met way too many desperate chavalas in my life. Whether it was a waitress at El Cucharón, a chica in the plaza, or getting phone numbers at La Piscina for an adventure the following day instead of a rushed 20 minutes/60K on the premises, the español never failed, and it earns you mad respect. It also brings you right into the reality of Colombia given to you by the people who know it best. No travel guide can give you that.
I should add that I'm late 20s, possess the aforementioned traits and am in great shape (which no doubt helped and added to the novelty factor), but speaking the language opened so many damn doors there, and made the chicas I didn't choose jealous, as my muñeca even insisted on stopping in at LDV one night after we went out for some eats just to gloat and earn bragging rights. Man, that's when you know you scored, more so when the girl stays with you for 8 days, sleeps with you until 2 PM every day and never asks for a cent after the first night - though she did get drinks and discos on me the whole week, in addition to some companionship, which they value a lot more than you think, especially when so many of them are young, single moms who have often been dicked and ditched by those ungrateful Colombian men. Sorry to toot my horn, but I had a blast, learned a lot, and wanted to put my two cents in, whether you like it or not...
I'm No Cheap Charlie Rufus Trust Me!
Rufus, It is true that my girl did pay for her own Airline Ticket From BAQ to San Andres, but yes I will eventually pay off her Credit Card. Hell this is my fifth trip to Colombia and I always bring a suitcase filled with goodies.
I have always been an advocate of why pay more! My Novia and her friends have seen Gringo's come to Colombia and thay all have said the FIRST mistake we make is opening up our wallets, be it to a pro or non-pro!
The reason why I bring up the fact that this young lady reaches in her own pocket, just absolutely blows my mind, and of course I get a little bragging rights.
Rufus, your 100% right if you learn the language a bit more and take the time to understand the culture, and for whatever reason the woman come after you!
From what I understand if a person makes $800,000 Colombia they are doing pretty good, hell she even has a Master Card.
One point that you hinted on was that we gringo's have so much and they have so little, I'm not really sure about that one! From a material stand point sure compared to our neighbors in the south we are loaded, but from a happiest level who is to say, anyhow I'm getting way off track here!
Besides the forum I use this as a scale on how much to pay, I pay a girl what I pay for my room! In CTG my average cost for a room is $50 In Cancun it is $125 In Thailand it is $20 In Lima $20.
This subject will never die! To my American Gringo friends living here and abroad, have a happy turkey day. And to the rest of ya have a great Holiday and be safe!
the different rules of Colombia...
john05, in a lot of cases the age difference is a better factor in getting it for free in colombia. i am 43 and my last trip to colombia i was asked out by a 15 yr old and her tias in their 30’s where within ear shot and didn’t even bat an eye and they all knew my age. before i get flamed as a ****, i declined the offer graciously but that is just a small example of how some latinas like older men.
i have some platonic amigas in colombia as well and they have told me that in a lot of cases that a colombiana is attracted to an older man not because of financial gain but for his life experience. they feel that an older man can teach them many thing of life that they might learn from and they find he is more interesting than the 25-30yr old male. this attitude transcends all social classes in colombia.
the exception is some of the older women 45+ sometimes look for the younger man for an affair. i think they call it “comir pollo” or something like that… lol.
so my advice to the 40+ guys going to colombia is dress well, use a nice aftershave and most importantly be confident. as one amiga put it a 40+ man is a trophy to a young woman in colombia.
