I am also heading next week but I will not arrive until Friday early afternoon.

It is pretty much a business trip but I fit in time for the casas wherever I can..;) I have been down multiple times but haven't hit as many casas as some of the other guys. I'd be down to check out some new ones, if you are.

I generally run around by myself so as to not be tied down to someone or to make them do what I want, but it's cool to chill with someone sometimes..;)

Oh yeah, I'm also always seeking out business opps and am currently engaged in buying products for import to the US. Right now clothes and some other small items. I have many ideas that I would like to pursue, but mainly I need someone who is living in Ecuador to help me on that side.

So, I'd definitely like to chat with you re: business and/or chicas when I come down. I will be staying at the Crossroads Hostel in Mariscal. It's one street off the main drag there, Calama, so close to most everything.

Is Crossroads the one at the corner with the steak house on the other side of the street from the entrance? It's 4 stories. Says hostel on the sign but it's more like studio apartments. $8 a day. If it is, I will be staying there. Was there last time. I arrive on 8/28 and am leaving on 9/4 but will likely extend my trip. Might even arrive earlier. The hurricane is going to disrupt travel though.

I'm thinking you are referring to Crossroads. Actually the Magic Bean hostel is directly across the street, if that's the steak house you are meaning.

I have stayed there many times and do like it. I actually pay for one of the big private rooms but it is still only like $15, so much cheaper than a hotel. You can bring guests if you like but if they stay after 10 or so, they will charge extra for that night.

They also have free wireless internet so that's a biggie for me as well.

I will be arriving on the 29th of August until September 28. I would love to hook up with you and I would be interested to hear about your Business as well. My wife works during the day , so I will have a lot of time to do whatever.

Zippy - I have stayed at Crossroads many times so several of the staff should know me if they are the same folks. Ask for Christina, one of the staff members. She has been there for some time and she knows me. She has helped me with buying stuff in the past.

Sounds like a plan. I will ask for Cristina and hopefully we can hook up. I am too interested in the Import/Export business and that is just one thing I am going to be looking at . This place doesn't have wireless that I'm aware of. There is a restaurant's kitchen back door that faces the front office. Front office is a double glass door. Elevator is right next to the office.

Probably Magic Bean that I'm talking about. Didn't remember the name. Just the location.

David - That may be Magic Bean, as you say. Crossroads doesn't have an elevator, but they are definitley right across the street from each other.

For any of you guys who are booking an international hotel, and want something nicer, without paying a ton of money, Orbitz has a $200 off coupon that will work on most international hotel rooms that are $40 a night or more, booked for 5 nights or more. The discount code is 200INTL. Or $75 off 3 nights 75INTL.

Depending on the fees and taxes, this can bring the room down to about $10 a night if you get a $40 one. I got the Hotel Quito for about $30 a night. If the hotel isn't quite $40 a night, you can add more occupants sometimes to get the price to increase a little.

I am arriving tomorrow 8/24 (Friday). I get in at 10:30pm on Copa. I am going to check this Orbitz discount deal now for the first few nights. Set to leave on the 11th of September now as well.
