Sosua overcrowded
There are vast flocks of Chicas here in Sosua tonight. They don't celebrate el dia de gracias here, but they will still be looking for a turkey or two to help them celebrate. I guess the guys left in the states won't have a pair of taut smooth young thighs to get between tonight. Still I will do what I can to keep the juices of Sosua flowing.

It gives me one more thing to be thankful for here in Dallas on this Thanksgiving eve.
I hope to be able to lighten your load when I arrive on my first visit to DR in early February.
If anybody knows the girl in Sosua that looks like Halle Berry, It looks like she was pistol whipping a guy that was cheating in El Flow two nights ago. Video in the Gogo forum.
Swiss guy killed in Sosua: Matan Suizo en Villas Ana Maria Sosúa; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7Hpkcg9A18&feature=related
I guess the dead Swiss guy read Frannie's posts about how charming and pleasant Sosua is and did not take proper precautions to protect himself from the very real dangers that exist in the DR and in Sosua. They interview the dead guy's girlfriend, she looks Haitian, the suspected murderer might be Haitian (or has happened in the past, a Haitian is framed for a murder in the DR that he did not commit).
My advice to any newbies reading posts here, is to take any posts written by Frannie with a grain of salt. Sosua can be a fun place, but be careful.
The police in Sosua instead of patrolling the neighborhood where the Swiss guy was killed, were busy arresting chicas who were breaking no laws.

DR calling cards
Anyone know if I can I buy a cheap calling card to call local cell numbers from my hotel in DR / Sosua? I know I can get a cheap cell phone with minutes, but sometimes the process takes too long and getting a new phone and charging it and carrying it all adds up. Is there any place I could buy a cheap local calling card?
I checked with New garden and they told me only room to room calls are free. I know I'd be spending most of my day time in the hotel and I can call the chica numbers collected during the nights from my hotel room.

New garden
I've never stayed in the old wing of NG. I checked out one of the rooms briefly and it looked like there wasnt much room to move around as compared to the new wing, and also the bathrooms were much better in the new wing. Anybody stayed in both old and new wing, can you tell me if there really is a big difference? The old wing is $15 cheaper per nite / but I like the location of rooms in the old wing as they are right in the center. Does it really make a difference?
I like Terra Linda, but the problem is there are no daytime chicas there and with the crackdown these days I feel that chicas on site is a priority.
Did you get a knock on the head that night you had a run in with the cops? Only a complete noob would pay $100 for sex with a condom from some girl from a club, and out of that money less than half would go the to girl, with the pimp taking nearly half, and the guy who brings the sucker in gettting from 500 to 1000 pesos. That might be the nice guy who offers a free ride and a lollipop.
Stay on the North Coast, (Sosua and Puerto Plata) with other rude people like you; Dominican Billy, Charles Pooter and I have read the owner of Blackbeards is not the most pleasant guy.

When you go on the war path its hell on the other party. But I think we are just going to have to accept that Frannie is different, as we are different to him. There is room here for all of us. Frannie explained to me via pm that he respects all of us, but he also wants respect. Hopefully we can all get drunk one day, and leave Frannie with the bill LOL.

The scally-wags hanging around there these days are certainly nothing to write home about. If that's your sole reason for passing over TL then you are going to be highly pissed off. You'd probably do much better just taking a moto down to La Passions versus waiting around for something even slightly doable to show up to NG. Also, every since the crackdown I don't believe they congregate around the pool area en mass nada mas. Coupe66 said he did not see one doable chica hanging around there during his entire 27 day stay in Sosua:
I have just spent 27 days based in Sosua, came back 2 weeks ago, with a 9 day break during that time visiting Santo Domingo and Santiago, so I think I am quite well qualified to offer my views about the place.
I would also agree with what Charles Pooter wrote, that the few girls hanging around in the New Garden Hotel by the bar are barely worth even looking at or mentioning. I know as I have walked by the place at least 50 times during my stay there!
But of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder ;).
If daytime chicas on site is a priority for you then Blackbeard's in PP is your best bet.

Was there a delay in responding to the call to the crime scene after the girlfriend came home from work and found him dead?
It appears that the guy who killed him was a neighbor who lived upstairs, so you wonder what good police patrols would have done. If you listen carefully to the last part of the video, it is stated that this Hatian guy (sounds like he has Haitian accent) who says he knows nothing had bloodstains on his clothing.
I have not really posted anything about security in Sosua, except to say that living in a place with 24 hour armed security may be worth the extra cost, which explains why some apartments in Sosua might be more expensive that something you could rent in Charmamicos.
In my opinion walking around Sosua at night is safer than than it would be in England, and in Florida two young English tourists were shot to death for no apparent reason after a night on the town in normally peaceful Sarasota. Everywhere is dangerous and I am not convinced that Sosua is significantly more dangerous than other places in the DR. However I would not advise anybody to show off large amounts or cash, or even to go out with large amounts, expensive cell phones, etc, because even if you are not robbed, you might drop them and lose them.
Here is a GREAT video of Sosua at night. You may recognize people you know. I certainly did.

Seems a German guy shot the video, at least he wasn't lazy about taking his camera out and using it in Sosua. I see better looking chicas in other parts of the DR. The video does show people drinking alcohol and smoking, recently you posted that Sosua would be better without such persons.

Especially classicos where you can't go into without hearing "JAY Z's New York" at least 3 or 4 times on a regular night. So it was cued perfectly! Ha haaaaaa LOL As far as Sosua without smoking a cigar, drinking or alcohol? Just stay home then.

If a guy such as yourself gives a haitian prostitute 1500 pesos in Sosua, she could loose that money as soon as she leaves your apartment at the hands of corrupt Politur or Policia Nacional, in Sosua. Or maybe she will return to where she lives and give that 1500 pesos to an abusive boyfriend.
Casas in Santo Domingo where some chicas live, are in good neighborhoods, electricity and water 24 hours per day, safe and secure. The chicas are safe from any abusive ex-boyfriends while staying at the casa. What the fee breakdown is between the owner of the casa and the chica, I don't know. Maybe it is 50-50 or 75-25 (maybe the chica receives $75US from the $100 fee and the casa owner gets $25, I don't know). When the chica returns to the casa after being with a client she doesn't have to worry about handing over her money to some abusive chulo.
In my opinion walking around Sosua at night is safer than than it would be in England
As the murder rate per 100, 000 population is 24 in the DR compared with 1. 17 in the UK, I doubt that very much.
