I had checked the price, then for various reasons (TGs!) did not book it until fairly late, and was shocked at how much the price had gone up.

My advice to you is to book it now, because the price is more likely to go up than down. If you delay buying it, you also risk it being full. Then you will feel pretty silly for trying to save $40. :)

If money is a concern to you.the price on airasia is different from day to day, so sometimes if you go a day earlier or later it makes a considerable difference, but moreso if you can check their website every so often for promotions and buy when they have on of their many specials. However the last 6 weeks before flying the price usually just goes up.
