Likely it was lost in translation. Anyway, 'mangoes' in LA also means 'pesos', mostly in Argentina and such.
Not. Mango is masculine in spanish.
It's slang for chicas used amongst non spanish speaking mongers traveling to spanish speaking countries, get it?,expand your horizon and you will find that I am correct.
And biological gender often do not correlate.

Has anyone been to BB lately? How is the selection looking?
Will be going to Blackbeards from November 4 to November 6 to see what is like, never been to DR alone, heard this is a good starting point, anyone know any close spots around Blackbeards that has the chicas?

JustWatching, I hope you haven't misunderstood what Blackbeards is all about. The chicas are there, on-premises. They will come up to you and ask if you'd like to spend time with them. You might want to go back and read previous posts here to see more about how that works.
Blackbeard's is located in a quiet, gated neighborhood called Costambar. I am unaware of any other action there. If you want to get out, you could go to Puerto Plata or Santiago, but neither place is renown for its supply of women of negotiable virtue. What's more, transportation to and from is sometimes difficult in the best of times--and is even more restricted now that there is a curfew. Given the short time you're going to be there, I think you'll find lots to keep you occupied at BB's.
There has been discussion here between guys who prefer the thrill of the hunt and guys who prefer the point-and-click aspects of BB's. To each his own. But if you are more of a thrill-of-the-hunt kind of guy, you might want to rethink your plans.

This is about a 20 minute cab ride from Blackbeards. Nowhere, I am not sure how the scene is now, I haven't been to DR in almost 2 years. Even before Covid, there had been some changes, but it appears there is still action. Read through the Sosua forum for updates. There is much to do in Costambar, a few good restaurants within walking distance and on the beach.

Of course, they may not be available now due to Covid.
Blackbeards is a solid 45 minutes from Sosua, not 20 minutes.
You may be right, I have done it several times but was probably not paying attention. But, it is irrelevant to what the original poster is inquiring about. I have a driver that I call on my trips between the two destinations, or to Cabarete if I want to spend time there.
From Blackbeards.
You can read a few pages of what it used to be like in this forum. Changes in BB because of COVID-19:
1. Almost all activities (costume parties, bikini contests, disco, etc.) have been suspended, but there are plans to resume it soon.
2. All staff wearing masks, most clients ignore it completely.
3. Unless you are a tripod, forget about social distancing in the room.
4. Restaurant and bar continue to operate as before with two tables left empty for social distancing, prices in pesos remained the same (at least for those dishes I remember), so your buck goes a long way.
5. Many activities before a curfew are available just like before just wear a mask.
6. Beach in Costambar is open and even more deserted than before.
If you do not mind staying at the hotel after a curfew and can handle a lack of activities, you going to be fine.
