I would guess there are no more than 300 chicas available for paid sex in Sosua at any one time.
A few years ago, when Clasico was dominating the scene, I did a rough count of chicas there around midnight on a Saturday night. I counted eighty, yet the place seemed packed with talent. Even if we allow for those who had been and gone, and those yet to turn up that evening, the number could not have been much above 200, and in those days once Clasico got going everywhere else was dead, so 300 would have been top estimate for the whole of Sosua (and maybe 500 during the course of a week).

On the Money
Not sure why this is on the SD forum but the info is spot on. What made Classicos so nice was the average chica was a 8, The quantity of quality was amazing. There always seemed to be at least a 3 to chica to every mongers or more. I am so glad I got to go there 4 times. The first few times I was overwhelmed. I could not believe my eyes. I wanted to have my friends see this with there own eyes. DLatins is ok but it is far from atmosphere of Classicos, I love to dance bachata and hip hop, I could put a show on in Classicos. Hot girls would see me dance and want to join me on the floor for some fun. It was a great ice breaker. Dlatin has no room for dancing and the girls are 5s and up. Quite a bit of dead weight.

Lower Malecon SWs
I have made a map to show where the lower malecon SWs are. The green highlight at the top right corner is Doll House. The lower left corner where I circled in red is where the SWs hang out. (It appears to be right past the Heros Monument.) I'm not sure what time they appear, but they are there all night as far as I know.

I cannot help you with cell phones, but I can tell you that which phone to buy will be about the hundred and seventieth most important thing you will have to worry about once here, so I hope you have the previous 169 already sorted.

My current wife is Dominican. She has dentist, doctors and other professionals for relatives. She also has some political connections as well. The phone is more for her since I will be staying here for 7 months and she will be residing there most of the year. She will be going to dental school in the capital. Her parents live in the capital. So I understand the phone thing might be a simple problem, but since it is for my wife it becomes a little bigger problem.

Do you currently have an unlocked phone? You can always buy an unlocked phone when you're in DR, just go to any Orange or Claro store. Or any pharmacy that has an Orange or Claro dealer in there. I have an unlocked phone that I take during my travels and just stick in a local SIM card. Some people will say stick to a phone that doesn't look expensive or isn't flashy. It's probably a good idea to be on the safe side and not show off any wealth, but as more and more people get smartphones I don't see this being an issue. As for which plan, I'm not sure since I just get pre-paid plans and they are relatively inexpensive.
And for which company. Claro and Orange are both good. I've had Orange on my last two trips. Talking to some locals they say Claro is better for data, so I will try that next time.

Not trying to sound like a jackazz, but with all the trips to DR, everything all worked out for your big move, all the professional and political relative connections there, AND on top of all that a Dominican wife; you had to come on a monger board full of strangers to ask about a phone for said wife. That shit don't make no sense at all.
-
This is only my opinion:
1. Political connections are highly overrated, especially among foreigners in the Dominican Republic.
2. People who really have political connections rarely feel the need to mention them.

Amigo Of King Kong
Get her the Nokia 520 Windows phone from Orange with the Ardilla (Squirrel) plan, but you probably don't want a data plan as that can get very expensive if the limits are exceeded and the phone can be used for Skype or Facebook any place where wi-fi is available. You can also buy extra minutes at any convenience store should she exceed the limit.
http://www.orange.com.do/web/planes/plan-ardilla
You can get the phone unlocked from Amazon for $125 new. They are very good and the only possible drawback is that they only have a back facing camera, and many people like a second front camera for Skype. Phone charges from mini USB, has replaceable battery, and you can add a 16 GB memory card for about $12 for practically unlimited music and photos storage, or even Kindle books, in the unlikely event she wants to use it for that.
