A trusted local guy is an option I have not used. It is hard to trust these guys. I had a driver who I used for 2 years. I thought he was a straight as an arrow. He was in his 50s and seemed very settled. He drove one of my old girlfriends from SD to Sosua with out asking my permission. This is the guy who drove me to the bus station to go to Sosua. The girl and I were on the outs and he knew this. I wanted him to take her to the bus station. When she asked to be taken to Sosua he saw dollars and chose not to call me. One way to Sosua in a cab 200 dollars. Nice payday! He called when he was 30 minutes away. I was livid. I gave him a 100 and a huge piece of my mine. He had been a decent friend for 2 years. The gas for the round trip had to cost at least a 100. It is clear you had a good repore and the right price for your boy.

The only good thing about Fabio is that you are safe with him. I've been dealing with him for 3 years and tries to overcharge me for everything. For example, when I was there last week he picked me up from the airport with two chicas in the car. Went to my hotel after stoping on ave. Espana at some other hotel where he went talked to someone for like 20 min. At 1 in the moring I wasn't feeling it. Checked in at my hotel, then went to el encentro on San Vicente. Paid for his soup, my meal and the chicas meal. Droped one chica off and I took the other one. He also bought me some weed. No more than 5 grams so 500 pesos. This muthafucka tried to charge me 4000 pesos! Gave his ass 2500 and was even mad at doing that. Another time two years ago I was staying at the jaguar. He took my two friends down the street to get some streetwalker. Didn't take no more than 30min and he tried to charge them 1500 pesos / each lmao. Just tired of his hustlin ass bullshit. All he is good for is the chicas and and you will be 100% completely safe with him, but fuck him and his bullshit. I speak Spanish now and been to the dr over 10 times in 3 years don't really need him anymore.

All of these drivers in Santo Domingo are a barrel of snakes and will try to take you for as much as they think they can get away with. Fabio is as good as any other snake out of the barrol but will try to get as much as he can from you. You are right you are safe with him and he does have a good pipe line of chicas he can supply you with but your basicly going to pay casa prices for them. Be up front with him when he takes you to a casa tell him you know what the prices are at the casa and your not going to pay a commission for him taking you to what you already know about.

The reason he was so helpful and took you to so many places is because he's getting a kickback from the places and you are paying anywhere from a quarter to twice as much as the regular price as his commision, which he will collect from the places he took you to for bringing them a customer. So he's not only getting his 300p an hr. Driver fee but you are probably paying twice the regular fee at these places and hes getting half of what your paying at these establishments. Until you know the ropes of Santo Domingo and can operate on your own a driver will be esential and hes probably as good as any other. But once you can manage SD on your own you will see your cost drop by half as you will now longer be paying a commission for your driver bringing business to these establishments.

Your best bet is to do your homework know the cases you want to go to know what the prices are before you go and tell your driver you already know about the casa you know what the prices are and you are not going to pay a commission for him taking you there you will pay his driver fee and that is it. Also have your driver wait in the car for you, you don't need him to go in with you. If he goes in your price just doubled as the establishment is going to charge you more and give him a commission.

It seems like they don't mind getting ripped off and these guys have been comming to sd for years and one of them has never been to sosua. He is great for first timers or non Spanish speaking people but you know he a rip off artist when he charges you more for a taxi ride then a chica will charge you to fuck!
