Another review of Hinomaru and JanJan
These places have been well covered in this forum (thanks!) , but I thought I'd add my experience at each. I hit both establishments on the same day, opting for the certain results over being more adventurous. But I hope I have more time to explore the next time I'm in Tokyo.
JanJan first. A dark basement with open-ended booths set up like church pews. Paid and went to the most secluded one I could find; a girl arrived a few minutes later. It was early in the day and there didn't seem to be many people working, but one girl was moaning loudly somewhere in my area, and I heard sounds that were more slapping than sucking. I didn't ask my server's name, but through conversation established that she was Japanese. She was slim, very pale, and attractive, about 30. And, as I learned when I asked if I could finger her, menstruating. I apologized and asked if there was anyone else I could see (hoping for the other girl when she finished) , and she left to get the manager, who appeared promptly with my money in hand. I explained myself and was told firmly and disgustedly that my options were the girl offered or the street. The look on the guy's face was contemptuous. I'm not sure if it was 'what do you expect for 3000 yen? ' or 'we're doing you a favour by serving your gaijin ass in the first place'. And I didn't like it, but I chose the girl over the exit. It wasn't the best or worst BBBJ I've ever had, but decent. Nothing deep, nothing special, but an effective suck to completion. I explained to her that I'd be fingering her anus as her vagina was unavailable, which was not an entirely popular decision, but the complaints stopped when it became clear that I wasn't going to try to excavate her colon. Overall, I felt that I got pretty much what I paid for. A cheap, seedy, and questionable experience that got me off admirably.
I was feeling good afterwards, so I walked across the street to a similar establishment and inquired of the tout whether or not services were available. He said that they didn't take foreigners, and when I responded 'even if we speak proper Japanese? ' he effectively told me to fuck off. I fucked off.
I then took a train to Kabukicho and spent a good long while wandering around in search of Hinomaru. I asked a few tencho for directions after bantering with them about the wonderful services they had available, and was given contradictory and vague directions to somewhere else. One guy said 'everyone there is diseased', to which I responded 'who isn't? ' It didn't stop him from trying to sell me on his place (and for the record, I'm not). I was a little surprised that I was approached so frequently, but it was early in the day and there weren't many potential customers around. I'm not sure if they were bending the rules for gaijin, bending the rules for Japanese-speaking gaijin, trying to take advantage of a sucker, or simply trying to take advantage of the potential business opportunity at a slow time. I didn't take down a list of which establishments wanted me, sadly. And I'm not sure how many of them were soaplands, how many were deriho, etc. Just that they weren't pink salons and that they weren't dirt cheap.
I eventually found Hinomaru, went upstairs, and opted not to select a girl, telling the guy behind the counter 'I trust your judgment'. The setting was much more open and well-lit (lots of mirrors) than JanJan, which I was a little uncomfortable with, but the service was about the same. The girl seemed like she was Thai (she claimed to be Japanese, but mine was better than hers). Darker skin, curvy, short. She was reasonably good at her job. The service wasn't quite mechanical, but wasn't anything to write home about. There was a notable odor when she slid her panties aside, so I again opted to finger door #2. She protested a bit, but at that point I needed the extra stimulation to get anywhere in her mouth. And the process took longer than either of us really wanted. Again, very much a get-what-you-pay-for service. Not a fantastic experience, but an adequate one for the money.
If I had to pick one place to go back to, I'd probably take Hinomaru. I'm not sure which is more English- or gaijin-friendly. While I stick out like a giraffe in Tokyo, I conducted all business in Japanese. But attitudes were much friendlier at Hinomaru, and there's more going on around there. I'm pretty confident of my Nampa ability, so I wasn't as interested in the more involved and more expensive places, but I've enjoyed reading others' reports. Thanks for the information, and I hope this will help someone else out.
