Change money with him twice. I got 38. 45 both times. I was getting 38. 00 or 38. 20 at the houses.

USD with some "guy on the beach" versus an exchange house you saved yourself a whopping 25 pesos which is less than a freeking dollar. If you were crazy enough to exchange $1000. With Mr."guy on the beach" you would have saved less than seven bucks. I'll stick with Western Union, a bank or a reputable exchange house thank you.
You are right exchanging money is always a little tense. So you want to be in as secure place as possible Popler banco has won me over and Western Union is dependable for good rates.

Banco Santa Cruz pays the same rates as he does, FYI.

Exchange 1k no problems or if its more he meets me in the lobby of my hotel. He's always packing. It's kind of surreal seeing this skinny humble looking Dominican guy pull out wads of 1000's and 1000's of pesos, pounds, euros and dollars. Everybody on the beach knows him. Skinny light skinned Dominicano, always wears a baseball cap. Gives me the best rate and comes highly recommended.

So depending on how things work out with this new girl I met at home I might be going on a solo trip in April, thanks to all the pictures in the various forums I think DR is the place to go. Sosua Bay is $60 / day with free breakfast. $60x14 days = $840. I doubt if you will eat and drink $860 worth of lunch, dinner, and alcohol in that time frame. I don't think they have a problem with you bringing multiple girls because they take all the girls' ids and they have to sign in and out.

I had about 2k in hundreds from Citibank in the states and went to exchange them at Western Union. When I was told one of them was fake (impossible) , they had the money behind the glass and there was nothing I could do, they would not return the bill for my inspection, they just gave me a photo copy of it with their receipt for my transaction. I was told to come back the next day to talk to the manager. When I came back at the time told, the manager told me the bill went to their central office for investigation (that could take up to more than 1 year) and then after they investigated it it would got to the Dominican central bank for further investigation and from their returned to the US.
This was complete and utter BS. I never change money at western union anymore, the local casa de cambios give me the same rate or better and I've never had them accuse me of passing a phony bill. How can a Citibank in the states not have better screening processes than a western union in DR. The only thing they do is eyeball the money, no electronic testing, no pen to verify the paper, only the eyes of this underpaid Dominican cashier.

Thanks for the responses, I should clarify that $1700 includes the flight which is around $900 by itself so I am paying $800 for 14 days of hotel, food and drink which seems very cheap. My concern is if I am doing all inclusive they won't let me have women in my room, I know they do in the breakfast only side of the hotel but I'd like to know for sure to avoid disappointment when I am there.

It's Friday afternoon and I only have two days left. The chica from the previous night didn't leave my room until 2 pm I could have started the process and got rid of her sooner, but I was being somewhat of a bum myself. I judge any vacation by the intensity of the memories they create. Although I have enjoyed myself and had some really good sex, nothing was really special. Do you think it is easy for the chicas. Those not hardcore. To disregard their feelings when they see you March with someone new later that evening and not even show them any acknowledgement?
Whatever the case, it is what it is. The best I can do is try to maneuver through the game and use my knowledge to execute my objective. It is located across from Rocky's and Orchidee on Dr Rosen. The patio area seemed cool, but since it was raining I decided to keep it moving.
When it rains in Sosua, this place sucks. You are really at a lost for things to do to pass time other than fuck and get drunk. I wasn't in the mood to do either, so I went back to my room to rest up and organize some of my things so I'm not in too much of a rush when I leave that Sunday. I also got my gear in order for that night and took a nap. I slept from about 5 pm to 9 pm I got up, showered, drank a beer, poured a strong drink, took a few puffs and went to dinner. I visited another restaurant (Orchidee) that I've heard others mention before. Even with the rain, the restaurant had a decent crowd. It was comfortable to sit under the thatch roof and sip beer. My meal was good. I ordered some red snapper and potatoes in a garlicky sauce. I don't remember it being expensive either. I recommend this place.
After dinner, the time was around 11 pm I was not going to Rumba or the other little bar on the opposite corner. Someone please help me out with the name of this place! LOL I went to Merengue to start the whole song and dance with my project. I really didn't feel like her be. S. I know the rain killed any chance of us going to the beach, but I felt she could have at least called and offered me a visit to her apartment since that is what she was supposed to do after the beach excursion anyway. I don't have much time here, so I'm basically done with her this trip. She was working the Classico booth anyway, so I sat at the bar for a few before heading up to Classico.
It was a weird night for me. I began to tire of the scene. I really didn't feel like being in Classicos either, but I figured this was my best opportunity to find that missing gem. all in all, sosua was a good time. i need more to do in other parts of the dr. my next trip will to the dr will be for two weeks and i will start on the south coast. i got a couple major trips next year that will eat at my time / money, but if i can find a way to sneek away for a prolonged weekend, i can think of no better place than sosua! bay-bay!
