Is this really happening now in Pattaya now or is it a myth?
Could be quite real. Maybe not the norm, but there is people (and not japanese only) that feel like having a blast once in a while to please them selves. The special treat, maybe once in a lifetime or in a year.
The local resident might be spend a 1000$ in one full year being all the time in BKK, for instance. The regular mongerer, spending a couple of weeks in a year might spend the same amount of money in thos 15 days, in a wise manner. The "japanese" might spend that amount in two days as he stays there 3-4 days only. The only 3-4 days of sex freedom he has.
So all in all each one spends 1000$ in 12 months, just in a different manner.
Can we blame one in particular?

Daddy07,
Your right! Sometimes you just don't know what you are going to get! They can't read in my opinion? Remember the day and month are in reverse order! You can't get off all the time and the game is trying to outsmart them? Whether you respect them isn't the issue? This is their country their rules good or bad when they smile I smile too and under my breath I'm saying what can't be repeated. This is more respect than they give us and a good example is today at the immigration office. While I was waiting this Russian guy was arguring with the two guys in window 1, 2, I was sitting right there. The guy was trying to tell them how to do their job and that the requirement was suppose to be this that they didn't know their job? Might be true but one guy sat there with his arms crossed and the other was bad mouthing the Russian to his face and he didn't even know it. He saw me smiling a little and smile back. What is your recourse? They were right " Stupid Farang " Eating crow is part of living here! I should be the one to talk?

It's absolutely real. Confirmed by two different girls, and I've seen the Japanese guys roll into A Go Gos with 3-4 girls on their arms plenty of times. This seems to be even more common in Angeles City with Japanese guys.
Others get in on the "fun" too, Americans, Koreans, etc, barfining cherry girls in Angeles to bar hop and never even seeing them naked. Then people wonder why the bar fines and asking prices have doubled in some places in only a few short years.

They go home devasted by the heavy drinking as usually they do it in groups, having spent quite some mine and that is it.
Here they can even take the grils around to stay with them as side dishes at a relatively cheap price compact to what they pay back home.

3rd Trip Cont.
beach road was very popular for low season. i picked several ladies for lt. one named mai, was a spinner type, but was not that good in bed. all the others were good, but not great. on one stroll down beach road, i ran into a lady who i had on my first trip. she saw me first and then i noticed her. she says do you remember me and i said yes. i did see her and talked to her on beach road when i was there in march. after talking a while i said do you want to go lt. she said she can't do lt. she has a japanese guy who she sees every night. she does what she wants during the day and then at midnight she goes to stay with him. she said he takes good care of her, so she can work for st's or not, up to her. she was all smiles as she is telling me this. i said good for you. she is no bar lady and is really a jewel of a person.
i was walking down a soi and saw 2 ladies sitting there and a lady behind the bar and a pool table. they didn't have any customers, so i thought i would stop and play pool. the lady i played pool with spoke ok english, but the other one spoke better english, so we talked quite a bit. she told me she was married to an american and now divorced. i won't mention this bar or the ladies name or the state where she lived when married to spare the husband from being recognized.
she said that her husband's mother was always meddling in their life and the mother said that this lady spent too much money. her husband has a good job with a major corp. that you would all know. she said he gave her 16, 000 baht (a little over $500) to spend on a 2 week vacation and she spent it. the mother said she was going to change her will because this thai lady spends too much money. it seems the mother was running this guy's life and complaining about this thai lady. i have seen too many mommy's boys have marriage problems because of the very same circumstances. she got so tired of the mother's meddling that she told her husband she wanted a ticket back to thailand and wanted and then a divorce. she went on and on telling me about this guy and his mother. she said that the guy now has a girl from chaing mai. of course this is her side of the story and i laughed hearing about it.
at one point i got diarrhea and then dehydration. i had meds with me to help with the diarrhea, but i got to the point where i was walking like i was intoxicated and i don't drink alcohol. i decided i need to see a doctor, so went in to the clinic on buakao across from sugar sugar. the doctor told me my problem and said i need an iv to get some water in me. i agreed and spent the next 2 hours there. they added something to the water, making it look yellow green, kind of like [CodeWord109]. then put the iv in a vein in my hand. while i'm lying there a middle age thai lady is brought in by a young lady and she is in the bed close to me with the same type of iv. after that they gave me 7 pills to take and more to take for the next few days. that problem sure affected part of my trip. i wanted to do some fishing at pattaya fishing park or one of the other places, but didn't work out this trip. i should have got help sooner.
i ate a number of meals at central festival. not the ground floor area where you have to get a card and load whatever amount of money you want on it. that is a pain in the ass. i ate on the 5th and 6th floors. i know it's kind of expensive, but great selection, good quality and comfortable conditions. in these places you don't need that stupid card. i still went home about 25% under budget.
my report is getting a little long and probably a little boring. pictures would spice it up. maybe i will add some next trip.

what did the good doctor charge you for his magic fix?
i'm not taking a dump on you by the way, don't get the shits with me lol.

However, I let things go too long on the dehydration part and I wanted the quickest recovery I could get due to running out of days. I would sleep and then wake up tired and sleep some more and still wake up tired. If I lived there I would have just taken it easy for a few more days and let it take its course, but I wanted to get back in the game. That was the motivation for going to the doctor. On the cost, it was 1, 600 Baht. When she told me that, I was about ready to walk. I thought about it for a minute then I said OK. I just want to get this over with as soon as possible so I went with it.

You might want to try sports drinks like Gatorade, as they hydrate much much more than just water. That's what they were designed to do.

- jf.
You are right, but I didn't really realize I was dehydrated at least not as bad as I was until I went to the doctor. I was dehydrated once before years ago, but nothing like this. Of course I was younger and the heat and humidity was nothing like this. I used Gatorade and pedialite back then.

Diarrhea?
Buy some Imodium in the states or canada. Works for me and its overthe counter meds. Any time I travel to SE Asia or China, I have it with me.

Next time when you are about town and you see those vendor carts selling fruit get yourself a fresh coconut drink. Have them crack open one for 10 baht, coconut has much greater strengh.
My basis is experience. Before I had thai car and motorbike licenses I have been stopped with and without my license from the states. I have been with friends when they were stopped and other friends have told me about when they were stopped.
You don't really need to go to the embassy. You just threaten the police with it if you are sure you have been stopped without justification. Then they will back off you. And where ever you go, if you speak the language, when the police stops you then you don't speak the language. Get it?
Ok, I follow your reasoning now. When you posted,"A license from any country will do even if it is not endorsed for motorcycles," I thought you had some info about thai law.
An international Driver's License has two important components. First, it is a negotiated treaty documents honored by the scores of listed countries in the license. It basically says, our country will respect your licenses if you respect ours. Second, it requires a verification authority (In the USA, it is AAA and only AAA). The AAA has the means to verify that the source license is a valid one (not a forgery) which the 'foreign' policeman would have no way of doing (he wouldn't know Alaska from his Ass).
Although your experience is very handy when dealing with Thai police, you are wrong on the technical law.
Buy some Imodium in the states or canada. Works for me and its overthe counter meds. Any time I travel to SE Asia or China, I have it with me.
Personally I would not take these as it keeps the bug inside longer and the bug has to finally get out of your system.
Am no doctor but if I get this (and I have a seriously bad exploding backside around 5 times in 20 years) I just drink lots of water. Flush the system until bascially you fart water and then eat dry toast and a banana.
Also sometimes a flat Coke / Sprite (room temperature) works as does drinking the water from boiled rice (not the rice itself).
Eating anything or drinking cold water / drinks is just going to make it worse until you have got the bug from your system IMHO.
The above always works for me but again am no doctor and try to avoid medication unless really desperate (eg amoebic dysentry that I have had twice in my travels!)

Runs are not fun
Buy some Imodium in the states or canada. Works for me and its overthe counter meds. Take two to start and one every six hours and you will be better very soon. Nothing wrong with re hydration at the gogos by the way. And yes they have the proper minerals to add to yopuir drink also at the pharmacies- just explain to them. They are better than you think.
