I know this sweet girl who has to make a living, so she is in LA cafe often to earn a small living.

Last night a guy took her and only paid her 500 pesos. Thats really sick you know, paying only 7 euro's

And she had several of these examples.

Guys, when you monger, pay at least a decent amount. Iits sick to make use of these girls like this.

If the girl accepts 500 pesos its her fault for not making the deal beforehand. Its been said before that most people dont know how much 500 pesos is to a filipino. Check out the yearly average wage of a filipino. You dont give many details, he probaby bought her drinks, maybe even breakfast in the morning, perhaps a tip.

Its also been noted that in AC the price is usually 1000 pesos for all night. The girl only gets 500 pesos after mamasan takes her cut. Your relegating thousands of mongers to sick status. Think about it. If its ok in AC, why is it so bad in LA Cafe if a girl accepts it? Dont tell me she was an innocent little girl who knows nothing of the trade please. Take a look around LA Cafe and see the number of women as compared to men, she's lucky to get picked up at all. Whats better, 500 or nothing?

I expect all the guys who know the girl only gets 500 pesos in AC to cough up the other 500 if you are bleeding so bad about it. Thats only for the guys who have a problem with the going rate, of which there are apparently not so many. Maybe they should raise the prices in AC to 2000 pesos so the girl can get 1000? Why not 3000? Guess what would happen in AC? The volume of business would decline and many girls would be out of work because guys would stop going and then everyone in the AC mongering business would suffer greatly.



As I have said before, pay what you want, just dont be a sucker. This post is not directed at anyone in particular, just as my first post in this whole thread was not, just my opinion.

Sorry about what happened to the "poor girl." Maybe someone should educate her if they know her so well then this wont happen again.

This is not a flame so dont take it as such. Who is this little girl? Maybe you can set her up with guys who will pay more, perhaps even you out of the goodness of your heart. It does sound like a bit of a strange post, timing and all since this 500 peso thing has been argued to death. Maybe you should post this on the Angeles City board since the girls there get 500 pesos for all night and see how it goes over on that board.

Its been brought up time and time again that the ladies only get 500 in AC after the house takes its share. Why its seems to be no big deal to anyone who cries about it in Manila is a mystery to me. What about the girls in the street who offer 200 pesos for massage? If a girl offers 500 should we turn it down and demand to pay 1500?

The exchange rate in Euros or Dollars or Yen or Marks has absolutely no relevance to the matter whatsoever. None.

The amount in question is a LOT more than a twelve hour day's wages in the local economy, and it is definitely not at all unusual, as many people have reported and I have experienced many times, but whether it is appropriate to the particular situation or not really depends on the circumstances.

This is not really intended as a judgement on the appropriateness of the particular transactaction referenced in that particular post, or on the post itself, since I don't know the nature of any understanding reached or the details of the encounter described, and I really don't want to, given the distateful odor on this section of the forum for about a year now after the launching of the childish narcissistic flame wars which sent it straight into the toilet and have kept it in the sewer ever since.

I agree with wastrel,It has to be put in perspective.After all not EVERYBODY earns in euros.A secretary,Bank Teller,Sales lady all earn less then 500 pesos a day.Pay according to your means what you want.If you earn in euros and want to share,Good for you and maybe you will earn good karma etc.If you pay the local rate,good for you also,You are being thrifty.The bottom line different strokes for different folks

In relation to Wastrel's point, which was, as usual, accurate, I just read an article in the Philippine Star while flying into Manila tonight from Davao. According to what I read, the "average" wage in Manila, which is the highest priced city in the country, is about PhP300 ($5.50) a day. Getting 7 euros for a few hours work, plus staying in a reasonably nice hotel and being treated well is a far more attractive alternative for these women than the wages they could make as a salesgirl or a burger flipper at the local fast food joint. Not only that, but department stores now often require college degrees from applicants for sales positions. Most of these ladies don't have this credential.

In the same vein, I just had an old car here rebuilt from the ground up. The workmanship is superb, the car looks show room new and the job--which was done entirely by hand-- took three months. The work cost me approximately $2,000 and there was a team of people working on the car all the time. The same work in the states, had I been able to get it done, would have cost at least $20,000. Should I then feel guilty about exploiting the garage that did the work for me? Why? The garage was delighted to get my business and I was very pleased with the result.

As Wastrel indicated, do not confuse what would be outrageous exploitation in the west with penury here. It's an inappropriate comparison and, though it might salve a conscience or two, reflects a total lack of understanding of the local economy. By all means, pay what you like, but understand that for 7 euros, these girls can live at a reasonable level here for a couple of days.

I will be in Manilla in a couple weeks. I'm thinking of staying at the Swagman hotel. I understand it is close to the action. I have some biz to do for a couple days then it is free time. I do not believe i would like Angles as i like the ocean. So would the best thing be to pick up a compatable girl in Manilla and take her to a place like Puerto Galera? The EDSA complex is a building that houses about 8 bars under one roof, and it's on EDSA Blvd. diagonally across the street from the Heritage Hotel. All the bars feature dancers and all require payment of a PhP1,000 barfine to take a girl out. The rest is between you and the girl. Ladies drinks in most of the places are about PhP300. It's cheaper than Burgos, more expensive than the LA Cafe and every taxi driver in the city knows where it is.

The other times I have gone to the Philippines I have either stayed at the Shangri-La in Makati and Edsa or stayed in a family condo in Mandaluyong.

However, I will be going again next month and will be working in the Ortigas area for a couple of weeks and am looking for a nice hotel in that area. I am only concerned about being close to the office--no concern with bars because I can take a taxi if I want to.

This is my recommendation. Go to Edsa, bar hop and talk to the girls. If you find someone compatible ask her if she'd be willing to travel. Easy enough. Better yet, don't ask her to go on the trip until the next morning so that you can better judge her character and techniques.

If you pay a bar fine, and the girl is absent the next day I think she gets fined another 1000. Naturally you have to make it all worth her while. You could do the same thing at LA Cafe. It would cost less, but there are fewer stunners and it would likely be more time consuming.

Here is a question for the others: In addition to paying all expenses how much would you consider reasonable as a tip for a 4 day trip? How about one week?

I don't know how much of an old fart you are, but I'm 40ish, bald and do quite well. They usually speak English well and it's much easier to have a conversation with a Filipina than a Thai girl. I think most of the girls would see it as a great treat to be invited to Boracay. It would likely be her first time on an airplane.

There are girls for hire at both Puerto G and Boracay, but you'll have more to choose from if you take a girl from Manila. There are a lot of younger guys vacationing on Boracay so the stunners would be less likely to go out with an "old fart". Puerto Galera has some clubs, but I don't think you'll find the quality of that in Manila.

When you bring a woman, it's all new for her so she's more likely to enjoy herself. She's also out of her element and away from her friends and therefore would be less likely to cause problems (if she's that type). Some guys will disagree with me, but I never talk money. I prefer the girlfriend fantasy and I usully get it.

If you go to Boracay, I would recommend SEAir over Asian Spirit. If things get unpleasant, just give her some transportation money to get home.

I agree, for the most part, with X man. Do not discuss money with the girl beforehand, though you will have to make a deal with the bar to pay her fines for however long you take her. You can probably bargain, at least slightly, on the total amount. The barfines at EDSA are PhP1,000, so start by offering them PhP500 for every day the lady is gone, and then go up from there.

I also agree that you're better off taking a girl from Manila, for whom this will be a big deal, than relying on your luck in Borocay or some of the other places. Just for the hell of it, I suggest that before you go to EDSA to make a choice, you spend an hour or two at the LA Cafe. It's hit or miss, and you probably will not find a stunner, but you may, and if you do it will be a lot less expensive for you to take her from there.

You mention that you would like to get in some swimming and diving. Two words of caution here. Most of the girls I've met do not know how to swim and many are terrified of the water. Make sure you get someone who at least is not frightened of it. Second, for some reason, many of the women in SE Asia get severe motion sickness and do not do well on boats, which means you would not be able to take her along on a dive boat. Either buy some Bonamine and convince her to take it prior to your boating experience, or find someone who does not get motion sickness.

If you are set on BYO babe to parts unknown in the Philippines, consider barfining two girls who are friends.

From my experience, unless you find one who is very fluent in English, a bit worldly and adventurous, the trip will stall at times when you are drinking, diving, eating or getting to know each other.

For me, at least, it has worked well to bring them in pairs or threes. They are usually open-minded about anything you may want to do and they will be able to babble with someone they are comfortable with in Tagalog when you just cannot take anymore simple conversation and need a break. Just leave them to sleep all day while you dive and meet up with them when you are done and ready to eat, drink and be merry. Being with her for 24/7 after about 48 hrs can be trying even with the best of sports.

GE is pretty on target telling you most do not swim and get seasickness easily. And, most have hardly ever traveled anywhere in their own country except to and from Manila and their province.

Another way to take this on and save money if you bring a harem is to forgo the airfare and book a nice cabin on one of the Super Ferries. It will take a day to get there, but it is relaxing, has decent foods, accomodations and a bar at night.

And, it will not cost you much more. Really. And a little variety in the nocturnal rounds may be fun.

I just got back last week from Puerto Galera, the diving there was very good, the food so so. I was there with the wife, so it was all "G" rated.

I did however meet a fellow there, who had picked up an absolute doll at a bar his first night in PG. He paid her BF for 2 weeks, and she moved in with him at the Atlantis. She was gorgeous, and was very GFE. Wiped his brow when he was hot, did his laundry, carried his reading glasses in her purse when they went out to dinner.

We had dinner with them several nights, and she was very nice. Not much to say, but always smiling, and a good sense of humour. This man, who actually lives 30 minutes from me, I could tell, was really falling for her.
