There is no need to beat yourself up..u recovered nicely. There are always some GDPs who will try to take advantage of who they perceive an easy mark. You were in a no win situation, where it seemed that the cab driver was in on the scam.
Just arrived in Rio this Sunday morning, my 6th trip. This was the first time taking the Real Bus from GIG airport. Man, what have I been missing! The cost was only $R7 and the trip wasn't too long - only 50 minutes door to door. Compare that with the normal $R45 cab fare that I have been paying in the past, and that's hailing the legit cabs upstairs. The bus first stopped at Rodovaria bus station, then somewhere in Centro (downtown), then Santos Dumont airport, and finally Copacabana. I told the driver I was staying at Ibiza Hotel on Rua Beflort Roxo, even though I wasn't, so the bus driver dropped me off on the corner of Rua Belfort Roxo and Barrata de Ribeiro, near the apartment I was staying at.
Took a nap to get recharged and hit Luomo, which is always my first stop when I arrive in Rio on a weekend. I got there at around 8:30p. Rumors of Luomo's demise was not greatly exaggerated. At this time, I counted 17 guys and about 8 girls. Where the hell were all of them? Doing programas? By 10:30p, there were maybe 8 more girls, and a lot of the guys had left by then. So the ratio became about 16 girls to 12 guys. Pretty terrible.
Saw some of the usual suspects - Ruby/Hoopy, Bea, Jamelle. Nothing appetizing for me - did not see Giselle or Natalia. Finally, one really cute girl caught my eye. I think she is new to Luomo. I swear her face looked like Ellen Page from the movie Juno, except she had lighter colored hair. Body was pretty nice looking. She was occupied with some guy that kept trying to paw her and she kept pushing him away. I could never really make any eye contact with this girl throughout the hour or so I was there. I finally sat next to her and she got up and left. Hmmm. Bad vibe. She seemed kind of stuck up, so might not have been a good lay anyway. So I decided to beat it out of there after staying for 2 1/2 hours and not seeing anything else worth my interest.
I guess I will double-up at Solarium tomorrow. It's coupon Monday, so I will get $R70 off the cabine fee for sessioning. Hopefully, I can find 2 different girls to make up for today's loss...

Are you confusing the demise of Help with Luomo? Luomo management has made some unpopular cost saving changes but I haven't heard any discussion about closing shop. Sixteen girls on a Sunday night in the low tourist season is actually a pretty good slate for Luomo. Sorry about your unintentional dry run.

Saturday night was quite a different scene, with a good 30-40 girls around 6:30, and a good number of guys. Quite a few of the girls were new and attractive, and some popular girls from the past--like Giselle and Luana and Nina--had returned. Saturday night was looking strong. I don't think I would judge any terma by what it looked like on a Sunday night...

I had a couple of good nights in the Munich club a long time ago, they used to have an okay lesbian act at one time. Trying to get a 1000 people in there might be a tight squeeze.

According to my sources in Rio, Club Help is moving to the club that was in the Meridian if anyone knows different please report. According to a friend, who is out there as I report the news, the guys out number the girls 20/1 and the asking price is 300r to start with and those are just for 5-6. The better ones are at 400r and up. This is due to the Europeans who are just paying whatever these ladies ask for. If anyone is out there please lets us know what the real story is.

I don't think Gavazzi took my comments to mean that I was giving him a beating, or that he was beating himself up. It's just that looking at red flags would have avoided getting to the taxi to begin with. We've all been where Gavazzi was - with our own variations on the story. It's good to offer each other support and reminders.

I guess "demise" was a wrong choice of words. Haha. I meant to use a word for "going downhill", as I have read on this message board that many Copa termas have been headed that direction. Then again, many posters are comparing these termas to the hey days of the early 2000's. Nevertheless, I hear Monte Carlo is back on the way up. I shall see tomorrow at MC, as it is coupon night there for $R60 off cabine fee for a session.
That's good to hear that Luomo was jumping on Saturday. I will check out Luomo again this coming Saturday then. Until then, it's off to Solarium in a couple of hours to double-down and make up for last night's non-action.

I'm curious what that really means.
1. Does it mean that the owners of Help are going to open a club in the basement of the Iberostar hotel?
OR
2. Does it mean that the Iberostar has opened a club in the hotel they just bought from the Meridien that they refurbished top to bottom and inside and out and the girls from Help are just going to start going to this new club?
I would suspect that it would be closer to choice number 2, since there is a large space in the Iberostar for a club, many years ago in the 80's when it was the Meridien they had a club called Regine's and there has been no club there for many years, so it is possible that the new management is opening a club there. But I wouldn't think they want the GDP's from Help but then can they stop them?
I think it would be a great idea, think about how many Mongers would stay in the hotel. Go downstairs to the club, have a few drinks, dance then take you're new found one night stand up the elevator to your room. It eliminates the taxi problem outside and many security problems.
This club/space although a good size is no where close to the size of Help. It had a small dance floor/a bar, tables. A good size but not as big as Help, as a matter of fact not many clubs are, it will be hard to replace.

This is confusing on several points. First, I don't recall there being a club in the Meridian but in any case, the Meridian has been boarded up for some time now. There were lots of clubs near the Meridian, most of which are still there, seedier than they were, and none large enough to replace Help. You could say that Mabs used to be the TA of more than 20 years ago. You could still find a friend there today.
What does not make sense is that if they close Help, they would just let it relocate in Copacabana. The whole reason for closing it is to clean up and just moving it elsewhere is not likely to make the civic minded folks pushing this very happy.
If it is closed, the girls will probably redistribute themselves along the various restaurants, bars and clubs along Copacabana. This is not good for either the buyers or sellers. It's like going from a supermarket back to the corner grocery. Maybe another "supermarket" will emerge. Anyway, mongering won't go away, it may just be decentralized.
