Just bring your candian dollars down to the D.R. and exchanges them wherever you are going to be ( don`t exchange money at the airport cause the rates usually suck).

I have to say that you get your moneys worth and no one I spoke with felt they have over spent.
Many people will tell you that you can have more for less but those kind of people are the ones that love buffets, quantity over quality---- Yuck!!!!
I have worked very hard and I don't waste money but I appreciate quality and I take it any time over quantity. I don't like things for the masses I want my stuff to be the best and I expect the service to also match.
I liked the fact that it was all there for you, the girls were very fun. All had great attitudes the looks were between 7-9. There were no super models but there were NO ugly hags and all the girls had great bodies-( I am picky as hell)
I just landed in Santo Domingo today and I hope that my fun can be as good, cause Oxygen spoiled me a little.

I am a 53 years old seasoned independent budget traveler . Have visited already Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, the Philippines (so many times!) Cuba (too many times!) , Colombia, Brazil. I will be for 3 weeks in DR starting January 19 th 2008. When I say budget, I mean I usually look for accommodation in the range of 10-30 US $. For any of the above country, I do not make any reservation in advance but for the 2 first days. I do not have plan and do not like to have and I like to move from one place to another in respect to my current feelings. As the offer is always much larger than the demand, it works quite well. So do you think this kind of strategy is possible in DR at this time of the year? Another concern, do the budget hotels in DR are implicitly girl friendly or must I ask the desk before?

Concerning budget hotels, guesthouses... member nibu raphael has just recently made a post with different links. You can find his post in his thread nibu raphael in the Dominican Republic.
January is part of the high season in the D.R. so i guess it could be a bit tricky to find a place in your price range, especially if you are staying in popular tourist areas like sosua, puerto plata, cabarete....
Most budget hotels have their own webpage so before you make a reservation you can send them an email in advance to ask them about their guest policy.
Transportation is no problem in the D.R. There is a very good bus company called caribe tours which connects all major cities all over the country.

I agree with you that quality over quantity. I am specifically more attracted to natural blonds. Does O2 have any? Do you happen to have pictures of the girls you met?
I was going to make a reservation, now that they increased rates and reduced the number of girls, I am hoping I can see some face shots of the girls before I go.

I went to Havana from Santo Domingo with cubana the national cuban carrier.
Before you can enter cuba you have to buy a tourist card in advance. You can not buy this card in havana at the airport. You can get this card at the cuban embassy in Santo Domingo or at travel agencies or maybe at the airport. The tourist card costs 25 bucks and is valid for 28 days if i recall right.
When you are leaving cuba you have to pay an exit tax or airport tax which will be another 25 bucks or 25 cuc.
When you go throught migration you have to show the immigration officier where you are going to stay. If you do not have a reservation of a hotel or casa particular it can happen that the cuban authorities are going to book you in a state runned hotel which are usually expensive (100-150 bucks).
In Cuba hotels are not girl friendly and it is impossible to take a girl back to a hotel room.
If you want to bring a girl back to your romm you have to book a casa particular. Just google casas particulares in havana and you get several links via which you will be able to book a casa particular.
Some of the casa particulares may not be girl friendly, so before you make a reservation ask them about their guest policy.
Keep in mind in cuba there are no strip clubs or *****houses.
Keep in mind that the police hassles the girls so don`t expect any girls to approach you.
In Havana/Cuba spanish is important as almost nobody speaks english besides hotel employees.
In Havana stay away from the center as there you will mostly find hardcore pros.
In the center you will find alot of people trying to sell you cigars, rum... don`t buy anyhing, cause all this stuff is fake.
Good areas for hunting girls are usually or at least for me the suburbs of havana cause there is usually not a heavy police presence.
Good areas for a casa particular are, habana viaje, vedado, cerro, la lisa, miramr....
In Havana most nightclubs/d****s are in the center or in Vedado. There is a special area called la rampa where you are going to find several discos and this is a good place to pick up girls. La rampa is very close to the hotel nacional which most taxi drivers will know.
In Cuba there are 3 different kinds of taxis. Taxis publicas which are (only) for cubans and cost 25 cuban pesos one ride. There are also illegal taxis which are more expensive and driven by people who do not have a taxi license or who make more money through this kind of job. And at last there a tourist taxis. There is a company in particular called pana taxi.
Please keep in mind that havana can also be a dangerous place especially at night so donīt flash, with money, no camera, watch.....

I just went thru almost the whole forum and saw enough recent comments about chica involvement with drugs in the DR.
Now, I remember in past trips to Sosua having seen a couple of really worn out chicks that reminded me of crack ho's but I just assummed that they were just drunken wastoids offering $1 BJs.
Now I am reading about young ones in BC and Sosua partaking in some of the "harder" stuff (not green)...is it getting worse or have I been blind all this time? Or this is more of a phenomenom in an area like Charamico or BC and not in Sosua itself?
I just do not want somebody johnesing and tripping in my room...

The cost of the flight was 450 cuc (pesos convertible) in euros round about 400 in dollars probably round about 500 depending on the exchange rate.

The Puerto Plata and Sosua area adjacent to Puerto Plata airport (POP) are best for what you are looking for. Plenty of 8's but no 9's or 7's.
Planes out of Manchester labeled [url]www.ThomsonFly.com[/url] are frequently parked at POP and have midweek flights full of people who do not appear to be wealthy. In mid January they have flights for 338 pounds inclusive of taxes. This would be high season in the DR, it may be cheaper at other times of year.
