I've been spending holidays in Pattaya for few years during wintertime (January) , when is sunny and not so wet.
Yet, this year this will not be possible and I might have 2-weeks available in mid-October.
Of course, I would go there for pussy, but because I've been stuck into an office for a long red hot summer, I also would like to hang on a beach at last and go for a swim on Koh-Larn without having to worry wheter skies are grey or a storm is coming, you know what I mean?
So, I am check on the wheater forecast on the web and it looks like mid-October is still rainy (17 out of 31 days) and wet.
Because I would like to have a report from someone who actually have been there in that period, beside what wheathermen say I am asking you:
How bad is it for beach-life?

Thanks[/QUOTE]Officially it is the end of the rainy season then, but last year there have been terrible rains all the time up to November, causing massive floods in North and Central Thailand. On the other hand, I have been to Thailand last year and this year in April, May and June which all are officially in the rainy season and hardly saw a drop of rain, except for a few thunderstorms which lasted a few hours only.
As everywhere, the weather is getting unpredictable and more extreme. Climate change anyone?
BTW, thunderstorms are a "good thing". It makes Thai girls afraid, so they come close and cuddle up to you. ;)

I think the wet season is a little over dramatised. Most of the days you just have one downpour for an hour or so.
Rest is fine and sunny and warm. Sometimes a little humid though.
Went couple of times in Oct: Fine, even during the bad floods from the north.

October and November I have found to be the best time of the year although I live here year round. In all the years living here I have heard the complaints and worries about rain but personally it is a non-issue! Unless you are spending hours and hours on the beach and got to be out all day and night it rarely rains for more than a straight hour or hard as they say downpour. Last year yes it did to my surprise nearly 12 hours straight all night until 10am in the morning but that is very rare. Weather seem to be changing year after year. The last two years August has been cool and dry but this year humid and raining but as noted the rain comes for a hour then that's it. Most of the time it is a night like last night while everyone is sleeping?
The weather rain shouldn't deter your plans. LBM

Let me preface this by saying, I am a long time lurker. 2+years. I travel to BKK 8-10 times a year for business.
Because of my previous position, I was never able to comment on-line. My deepest appologies for that.
I will be making my "virgin" trip to Pattaya 20-25 September, any "advise" would be greatly appreciated. Yes, I have rtff.
Just how busy is Pattaya during the High Season? I have mainly passed through during the summer / rainy season, and it has been an enjoyable experience. However I have had a change of schedule, so would have to come during High Season this time. I mainly go to go-go bars. Would it get so busy that it would be uncomfortable?
Anyone know of a decent gym with weights in Pattaya?
Also, anyplace that I can view American College Football?

I knew about last year flood: hope we can consider that a single accident that won't repeat this year.
"Unpredictable" is finally ok: even better than 100% rain. It leaves us some chance of fine wheater.

It may be on good bars, bars with shows, girl friendly hotels, avearge price of barfines, tipping post a LT, beerbars or gogo bars. Beach road freelancers.
Break it down as well as read through a good number of posts so as o avoid asking what has been discussed.

You should know about the various venues (Soi 6 etc) and should start with whatever interests you. Don't try to see too much in 5 days. I stay away from Walking street, but that may be a place of interest for you. I enjoy bars on second Road and many different Soi's. I also like Beach Road. Soi Buakao and surrounding Soi's are good places too. You didn't mention any things you might be looking for so only vague, general advice can be given.
Pattaya is a surprisingly safe place to walk around at all times of day or night. I have wandered around many times from midnight to 6:00 am. I don't know what your food taste / requirements are, but you should have read lots about that. I am sure you read much about hotels, so what type of advice were you looking for? If you travel frequently to Bangkok, then you certainly should not need advice about Thai women.
