Escort agencies
Have stayed at Pueblo amigo junior suite 90 a night and also the Real deal Rio. 65 a night nice room quiet and both are chica friendly. The only complaint I had with Real deal Rio is it seems to be a popular place for lap band surgery folks. Looked like a hospital ward when I stayed there Might be out of your budget but a good nights sleep is needed if you are going to be busy as you state. Had great luck with mlb and musas Tijuana and LLA.
A lot of escorts won't go to the Zona. If you're using escort agencies then you won't really need to be near the Zona, nor will you need to be in Centro. There are several business-style hotels below that price, but they are near absolutely nothing of interest. If you don't care about that, the City Express in Otay Mesa is an OK choice. Very basic. There's a small mall next door with some nice little restaurants (Chilaquiles is a decent place) and an Applebee's (mediocre). Loads of decent local dining in the area, fairly easy to get a cab, but really nothing of interest to see or do in the area.
If you want to be closer to any sort of nightlife, try the Real del Rio. It's about $67 per night, but shop around. Decent (albeit a bit small) rooms, phones, a funky little bar on-site, very close to some very nice dining (Cien Anos is next door), easy to get a cab. Starbucks is a bit of a hike but you can cab it to Plaza Rio, or east down Paseo de los Heroes to the next Glorieta and there's a Starbucks there. There are several night clubs within walking distance (Onexius, Sinatra's, to name two).

If I was to walk over the pedestrian bridge during the daytime and instead of taking Primera, then up Constitution to LZ, what about these following routes?
1) Up Negrete then on Couhuila over to LZ.
2) Down Negrete, over on Benito Juarez then up Revolucion (to see some of the touristy things) then over on Couhuila to LZ.
I will have a backpack on me.
I think your best option is alternative #2, especially due to the sights spelled out by PhordPhan.
The block of Coahuila between Revo & Constitution has heated up recently as a place of increased muggings during the past half year.
The block of Primera between Revo & Constitution has an old reputation as a place know for choke-outs by rateros (although not so much in recent years).
It was just a safety factor since yes, the fear mongers were talking about Primera being the really bad path. If the Negrete. Coahuila route is that much safer, especially with a backpack, I would rather do that one.
I figured the Negrete south then across to Reve would be pretty mainstream. I don't know if Reve all the way up to Coahuila is okay.
OK. You said you'd be walking during the day. There is very little to worry about these days, but to allay your fears, follow this route:
Stay on Primera until you get to Revolucion. This path is perfectly safe. Go south on Revolucion as far as you'd like and do some sightseeing. Look at the Zonkeys, poke your head into the casino, have a drink at Caesar's, go about 3/4 of a block east on 6th, north side, and poke your head into Dandy del Sur for a small slice of old Tijuana. When you're tired, head back north on Revu. Go west on 2nd to Ninos Heroes. (If you want some bitchin' birria de res tacos, go west on 4th to NH instead). Head north on NH until you come to Coahuila. Cross the street and you'll be at Rizo de Oro, which I assume is your intended destination. This way you've completely avoided that "dangerous" stretch of Primera between Revolucion and Constitucion (which isn't particularly dangerous during the day).
I don't care if you take my advice, or not, but stop listening to these ninnies here who try to convince everybody that Revu, Tijuana, etc. , is such a very dangerous place after 9 PM. Read some other posts from other members who actually travel outside the Zona. Here's some food for thought: The Zona Norte is probably the most dangerous area in Tijuana, with more scumbags per square foot than probably any other public place. And you'll have a hotel room right in the middle of it.

I never went on Revolucion at all. Would I be able to take Revolucion all the way up to Coahuila then across to the Cascadas (that is where I decided to book my room)?

But you'll probably feel safer going south on Revu to 2nd, west on 2nd to Constitucion, then north on Constitucion to Coahuila. There is nothing between Primera and Coahuila, on Revu, but a parking lot and a large gay bar. The area between Revu and Constitucion is an overall shitty area.
If it were me, I'd avoid all the BS and just keep walking down Primera until I got to Constitucion, then north on Con. It's the middle of the day, it's a short block between Revu and Con. Just walk it.
If you truly believe the horror stories here, then just take a cab from the border and have them drop you in front of HK.

I've probably walked in that area more than 100 times during the day and have never felt threatened. The biggest danger during that daytime walk is twisting your ankle on the uneven sidewalks.

I now usually stay on 1st till Ninos Heroes. Lots of cute shops and cafes in the area. Last time I ran into one of the cute TB waitress walking to work and shared a coffee before going up to the zona. For whatever reason Constitution Ave just seems filthy and smelly (and full of pot holes in the sidewalk) so I take Ninos up.

I can see why these routes would be fewer problems. Thanks everyone.

I spent a nice quiet Saturday afternoon in the zona. Quiet I guess you could call it that since shootings are becoming the norm. The area just past NewYork bar was blocked off from what I heard a guy was shot once and lived. A ton of police cars buzzing around all day I guess that makes it safer.
Also ran into an amigo who claims he got into a beef with one of the bar girls, said he ended up in the managers office where he was slapped by the manager and told not to come back to this bar. Wow slapped, I have heard of many disagreements in the bars, but an assault that is some poor customer service.

Rumor has it he put on a false mustache and tried to sneak back into HK. Sounds like it didn't work. :D

Hotel Ticuan
Hey guys,
I have booked a room for 4th of July weekend, but I've been reading about a fire there back in December. Can anyone confirm if its reopened or when they will be open? I had a problem booking the room through their website, and after 60 minutes I was able get a confirmation reservation. I hope I don't have to cancel my room. Please let me know.
Thanks

Thanks
Did you get a confirmation through Ticuan's web site? If so, then things are up and running again. The hotel is supposed to be open this month, but I will try to confirm that as well. I also have resverations in July.

I've looked all over the web to find any info on Ticuan and nothing. If its not in operations by the time I go, I might just have to cancel my trip. I really enjoy staying at Ticuan and been to spoiled to go else where LOL.
