The girls are PROSTITUTES, period. I think it's engrained in all of us to "want to be loved", but go there for what it is: a good time with a chica that one probably couldn't imagine being with back home for a sexual experience that you can't have back home. It is fantasy. The chicas will begin by appealing to your vulnerability, they've heard it all, and if they haven't, a friend has and will tune them in. The more you share about what you want, or didn't have before in a woman, all of that is only used against you eventually. Enjoy them as a trophy on your arm, make a fair exchange, and forget about them. Staying a week with one chica. Great sex to start, then the distractions, before you know it friends arrive and you're buying beer and food for everyone, then magically, she loves you so much you go see the family. You feed everyone. It goes on and on.
The value of these places is beyond the few extra dollars for a room, or even the chicas.
Pooter is correct here, but I will say that the likelihood of "getting to know" a chica in the real sense is all but impossible. They have their own communities, families, friends, and none of them will tell you, or reveal to you anything that will compromise their income ffrom a gringo. It is their code. I have also warned of getting to know families, especially the children.
I like the phrase "protected environments", as I relished in the fact that I'd melted into the Dominican framework. You never will, no matter what so don't try and convince yourself. Dominicans with money even have their own "protected environments". Thinking one can just roam any general population street in the D. R. And not get noticed, or targeted is naive at best. With the recent problems in the economy and the uprise of the drug commerce going on there,"protected environments" are worth it. In Sosua, stay at hotels where they check in the chicas, hold a cedula, and see the girls when they leave. Circumventing this can be dangerous.
There are those who are experienced, veterans, and understand the culture entirely that still become "pendejo's" in the D. R. Much of it will boil down to ego, and the girls know how to press those buttons.
Most of the experienced mongers will come across a bit "jaded" with the scene, but pay attention, the good ones, the successful ones play the girls like a game of "hot potato". Sending money when you are not there, really bad idea, and even I have posted before, NEVER NEVER NEVER become financially important to the life of these girls. It only ends in disaster when you decided to cut it off, and believe me, once you find out what she is really up to, you will only be poorer, or worse.
Many "honest" Dominicans will tell you that no respectable Dominicana will enter a serious relationship with an extranero. Some do, but it is rare, and in the form of some type of "Trump style" negotiated relationship. The success stories are RARE.
Excellent response to an excellent post (by C. Pooter)!

Sosua Bay Hotel
I really enjoyed my stay. I felt really comfortable here. The newer wing at NG has slighty better accommodations, but I got tired of seeing the putas. I had a great time chilling on my balcony at Sosua Bay looking out over the beach. I also had a great sexual episode too! He, he The chicas seemed to get very comfortable as well. Too comfortable. I had no problems bringing guests. Just make sure you go for the breakfast only option. If you do all inclusive, your room will be on the other side and you will not be able to bring guests.
Whatever you do, don't get it confused with Sosua by the Sea. You will come in late one night with a Chica and you will be pissed!

GFE is possible
Miata,
Do yourself a favor and sip a beverage at one of the bars around 9 pm and just survey the landscape for a couple of hours. If you need to take the edge off, go to La Passions. I think it is worth a visit for the newbie.
Again, practice patience when searching for a GFE. There will be a few seasoned veteran putas who will smell your eagerness. It is up to you to use good judgment. We all have been fooled before. Sometimes you can get caught up by how sexually appealing a chica appears that you just go with it and she turns out to be distant and hardcore. It's ok with the sport fuckers, but many veterans are turned off from Sosua because the GFE can be so elusive.
I still have much luv for Sosua. I think it is the best option for those with limited Spanish skills and those new to the environment. I play the game right back with those ho's. Please don't act like a kid in a candy store. You will undoubtedly play yourself.

has anyone ever stayed at El Colibri?

El Colibri
I am going to be there this weekend and next week. I will let everyone know how it is. I figure it will be good for me to do a bit more walking.
has anyone ever stayed at El Colibri?
I have not stayed but visited and reviewed the place. It is friendly and a great place to stay. You have to be discreet there as this is also a family hotel. If you look for a place like this one http://www.hotelpierososua.com/ And it is full then move opposite to El Colibri.

Its big enough that one can relax there during the day, you don't feel confined plenty of space to roam around without being harassed by working girl's or peddlers. You get the use the gym in casino building if your into staying fit. The other side of the resort usually has families and people vacationing that are not in Sousa mongering. So it gives you someone to talk to break the cycle that one falls into while in Sosua where everything is about fucking. The staff there in cool and respectable. I've stayed at Sosua Bay 6 times in the past year and I have never had any issues. Must say that my best friend bought into the vacation club there a few yrs ago.

New Garden
Everytime I call they say he isn't there. Hopefully he will be there tomarrow cause I'm going to give him a piece of my minD.
Even when Wilfred worked there the reservations at least for me were difficult, now that he is gone this is what you get. Lets face it how many smart gringos with any buisness skills that you can trust are available to hire in the DR? Not many if you ask me. The expats that are there who were successful in life certainly aren't going to work for those wages, or they are too old, you would be more likely to see them doing nothing or owning their own buisness. The New Garden with Lorenzo isn't the only place on North Coast without a competant person to take reservations or manage the Hotel.

Hotel El Rancho
I booked in Hotel El Rancho from February 3 to 5. The hotel is in front hotel Cayena. I tried Cayena, New Garden, Terralinda, Europa, no rooms available. The guy from NG told me because of high season and Superbowl no rooms are available, he gave the # of El Rancho, he told me the hotel is relatively new and unknown so there should be rooms available, and there were so I got a $40 room. Anybody knows about this place? Does it has a good location?

It is my first time in Sosua for an almost 14 year Santo Domingo veteran.

The mouthy woman owner wanted to argue about the things in the room that they did in fact work, calling me a liar, good thing she was a woman because if she was a man I would have drowned her in the pool. Another guy stayed there almost at the same time and had exact same issues with a bonus of having the toilet spit sewage all over his room. Good luck!

You might even have an ocean view. The street it is on is called "Calle sin Salida" which means, like the Hotel California, that you can check in, but you can't check out.
Another guy stayed there almost at the same time and had exact same issues with a bonus of having the toilet spit sewage all over his room.
A well-known hazard of living in the DR. I have experienced it four times. It helps if you don't flush toilet paper down the pan but put it in a bucket instead.
