-There is a lot of free stuff to be had. Particularly if you are under 40 and reasonably personable. And sometimes it's very nice to not have to pay. Until you get a few girls with emotional issues, at which point you want to pay again.
-Finding a good girlfriend is not easy. Especially if you want one who already speaks decent English, she's obviously another (or many) farang's throwaway. Most will have major trust issues. Not that it was easy to find a good lady back home, but it's no easier here.
-I get anxious and homesick when I leave Thailand for more than a week, even if it's only to a nearby country. I don't get homesick for the west, but I do for thailand. When I get back I feel much better.

Gogos are a non pleasure, I meet enough gogo girls after hours for 1000 baht, why bother with the barfines, ladydrinks, loud music, mamasan hassles, and all other forms of wallet picking
It's nice not to pay: true, until you find out that as the major breadwinner you end up paying anyway, and then the emotional stuff ties into it and it all goes to pot
Bar girls are a lot of fun, when you get the good streaks, no hassles or grief, and have a few repeats that haven't yet formed any emotional dependencies. And then there are the days when it all goes south and you are lamenting not having a steady gf that you can trust.
Bottom line is, even on the worst day, I'd still rather be here than there.

I haven't "lived" in Thailand, but I have had around 30 trips there for an average of 3 weeks at a time, I had 5 trips there in 09 and 3 so far this year.
All going well I will be living in LOS by the years end.
I look back to the 90s and think of my first half a dozen trips, the mistakes I made make me cringe!, but its a learning curve for us all, I'm still making mistakes but fortunately they are few and far between, and not of the magnitude they once were.
One of the things I love the most about LOS is how quickly things can change, you can be having the time of your life early one evening thinking this is the greatest place on earth, then the whole night can turn to custard and you end up going home alone or worse still end up with a money hungry starfish! Conversely some of my best nights have started off very average, then turned into great experiences.
After 30+ stays, (mainly in Bangkok) and countless "girlfriends" if someone was to ask me whats something I've learned about the "Thai girl psyche" I would say things are not always what they seem, in fact it is rare for the statement "what you see is what you get" to apply to a Thai girl.
After a while your 6th sense kicks in and you see signs and signals that with the experience you have gleaned over the years, set the alarm bells ringing.
Having said all of that, I just love going to LOS and screwing the hell out of a 20 year old hard body for a few thousand baht, something that is nigh on impossible to achieve in the west at the age of 48!

Went to J-one, I know there has been alot of negative comments on the place but I think it is great. Very classy.
