As a matter of fact, about 50% of all of us are carriers of HSV-1 (not H[b]P[/b]V-1 which is the virus responsible for cervical cancer!) , so you may be carrier already without knowing it.

During an outbreak it is best not to kiss her or get a BJ. HSV-1 is different from HSV-2 (which causes genital herpes; about a few percent only are carriers) but cross-infections are not unknown: HSV-1 causing sores in the genital area and HSV-2 being found around the mouth. So safety first!

I really appreciate all the comments from the bros on this subject. One last, I hope, question. If we males have the virus do we automatically infect our partner if she does CIM with BBBJ, or if we go BB and come inside? As we do not normally have any symptoms or visible sores. Now of course, I am talking BB just for reference. Don't recommend it and don't do it, but trying to pick the worst case situation. The chances are smaller but still there. You are most contagious right before it appears. This is true with both HSV 1 and 2 (oral or genital). According to studies genital HSV-2 infections were the most frequently recurring herpes infections, followed by oral HSV-1, genital HSV-1, and last of all, oral HSV-2. Other studies show that people with recurrent oral HSV-1 shed virus in their saliva about 5% of the time even when they show no symptoms. In the first year of infection, people with genital HSV-2 shed virus from the genital area about 6-10% of days when they show no symptoms. Thus, in addition to YES you can transmit or be infected when there is no visible sign, note too that HSV-1 of the genitals is rising as is HSV-2 oral. How do you get genital HSV-1? You got it! and HSV-2? Likewise, HPV can do the very same...even without an outbreak it is possible...less so but still very possible.

That being said the way to beat cancer is to drink fresh vegetable juice, it's loaded with antioxidants. Buying a juicer or blender is the best investment you can make for your health. With adequate nutrition we may be able to stave off the cancer, which is what HPV and a lot of other STDs turn into. And I would stay away from supplements like TA65 as guess what else increases telomerase size? Nicotine. Which causes cancer.

I think we all need to be worrying a lot more about cancer. Living in cities, especially third world cities means that the very air that we breathe is carcinogenic. Polluted air, chemically treated water, pesticide laden fruits, estrogen injected meat and STD infected working girls, there's threats everywhere. Win some lose some. Can't live forever anyway.

Very helpful. The FoN drops when applied can stop the progress of the outbreak and dry up the sore, greatly reducing the duration and severity of the outbreak. People I know who have used it found their sore (s) begin to dry up quickly and expressed surprise to find the time of outbreak greatly reduced. If applied at the onset of the burning or tingling sensation, could even prevent the outbreak of a sore. Perhaps using both in combination could be very helpful.

I'm not suggesting it's a panacea, but wonder what the prophylactic benefits might be of both monger and girl using a good antiseptic mouthwash before (and after?) DFK, BBBJ, DATY.

At first glance I would think that Listerene might be the best bet, as it now includes the anti-bacterial agent Thymol in addition to Eucalyptus, Menthol and Methyl Silicate and alcohol. But I read somewhere (this Forum?) that traditional Listerene actually makes things worse because the alcohol irritates and opens up any existing mouth sores. Not sure if that's true or not.

Colgate Total Advanced on the other hand is alcohol free but contains 0. 075% Cetylpyridinium chloride (anti-bacterial). I think the rest of it is basically mild soap. This shouldn't irritate sores, but appears to only offer protection against bacteria. Not that I'm saying Listerene has anti-viral properties, but might it? Colgate also makes something called Colgate Peroxyl which contains Hydrogen Peroxide and they recommend as an anti-septic mouthwash and for treating cold sores. It comes in an alcohol free version and one that is 5. 8% alcohol.

So far the best answers I have gotten are give it up and accept it, treat it after the fact, become celibate, or wear a full body condom! None of which I am willing to do! I certainly don't believe the mouthwash could hurt and might help, but I think that Herpes is a viral infection. So far it seems nothing will kill the virus? One thing I don't quite understand is that if the type 1 Herpes is present and there is a facial outbreak, does that automatically transfer to a vaginal outpouring of the infection. IE: DATY=you got it! Come on everyone, let's weigh in on this and come up with some "reasonable" approaches to this (everybody has it) problem. Mrclen

Some people take them daily to significantly reduce the number & severity of outbreaks & chances of transmission. The creme may be taken simultaneously with an OB.

Mouthwash will not help against virus particles and will be of little help against bacteria. I don't think the anti-bacterial effect of mouthwash will kill all bacteria, but it will be better than nothing.
