I booked in Hotel El Rancho from February 3 to 5. The hotel is in front hotel Cayena. I tried Cayena, New Garden, Terralinda, Europa, no rooms available. The guy from NG told me because of high season and Superbowl no rooms are available, he gave the # of El Rancho, he told me the hotel is relatively new and unknown so there should be rooms available, and there were so I got a $40 room. Anybody knows about this place? Does it has a good location?

It is my first time in Sosua for an almost 14 year Santo Domingo veteran.
Rockys is sufficient for basic lodging at an affordable price and it is the closest place to the bars, Canadian owned, (you could also inquire about about short term apartment rentals at Rockys) http://www.rockysbar.com/
Next door to Rockys is Hotel Orchidee, German owned, (ISG member Ben Hur would stay at Hotel Orchidee) , inexpensive hotel, http://www.hotelorchidee.ch/cms/index.php
Probably up the block from Rockys and going toward the main road, hotel don antonio, http://www.hotel-don-antonio.com/english/index.html
About 4-5 blocks from the action, Dutch owned, Hotel Don Andres, http://www.hoteldonandres.com/
Hotel Romanoff, not expensive. 56 Room-Apart-Bungalow, Calle Ayuntamiento, Tel. 809-571-3242.
Further away from the action, Hotel Voramar, http://hotelvoramar-sosua.com/home/home.php
This website lists many hotels in the DR, click Sosua and there is a list of 47 hotels and places to stay for Sosua; http://www.hotel-dominican-republic.net/

Not only does it help but one is not supposed to flush toilet paper in the Caribbean.
Be aware that the pipes used in plumbing are much narrower than those in the US or Europe. Hence flushing toilet paper will guarantee that eventually everything comes back at you!
A well-known hazard of living in the DR. I have experienced it four times. It helps if you don't flush toilet paper down the pan but put it in a bucket instead.
Gross, gag!
That would be appreciated!
People will knock me for this but 10yrs later I still stay at Europa, I've stayed at New Garden and Sea Breeze. The rooms are huge, its clean enough, good AC, Diego gives me a good cash price $50 / nt, He's tolerable when he's not drunk, never had issues with bringing in chicas, right next to roses, dominos, cmp, passions, swimming pool, jacuzzi, free wifi, free muffins and water in lobby. I know I'm like the last of the old-school still staying there.

Most hotels ask you not to put paper down the inodoro, however that may not be the case in all-inclusives, I don't know. If you are in a hotel room, normally the maid service will empty it daily.

And many of the newer buildings have adequate piping. I never heard of it being a problem at Field of Dreams or at Harbor View which are the only other places I have stayed before moving to my present apartment.

I guess next time, I am going to take a shower after a dump as I find it rather obnoxious that someone else will have to empty my refuse laden toilet paper.
The street it is on is called "Calle sin Salida" which means, like the Hotel California, that you can check in, but you can't check out.
I didn't know that was the actual name of the street. I thought it was just a sign saying it was a dead end.

I always have to remind her,"Baby did you forget that you can put the paper in the toilet here?"

Europa was pretty good the first couple of times because (on a friend's recommendation) I requested room 108 or 110, which actually have a living room and a bedroom and a bathtub. It has an entrance outside of the hotel as well as a sliding glass door in the bedroom in front of the pool. The second time they had deadbolted the external door though and I was not allowed to use it. Another drawback was that the AC was in the living room and (even when it was working) you could hardly feel it in the bedroom. From then on I was always given shittier rooms upstairs. On one trip a couple of years ago I gave a ride from the airport to a couple of guys who were staying at Sosua Bay. I have been staying there ever since.

That room was awesome for a quick and easy in and out, Never had an issue with the AC in a matter of fact its soo cold I usually have to turn it off in the am. I've also stayed in the 106? It has a jacuzzi and a bar with stools, nothing like slipping and sliding in the jacuzzi.

So everytime I pulled the curtain back to leave I scared the hell out of myself thinking someone was standing there.

It is my first time in Sosua for an almost 14 year Santo Domingo veteran.
For two nights, just about any of the small hotels in Sosua should suffice. If you take Metro Bus from Santo Domingo to Sosua, the Metro bus stop in Sosua would be about 50 feet from the hotel don antonio. The metro bus stop in sosua would be about 1 block from Rockys. 1 1/4 block to hotel orchidee. 1 1/3 to terra linda (I believe is owned by Boricuas) and about 2 blocks to New Garden Hotel.
If you take caribe tours the bus station for caribe tours in Sosua is on the other side of playa sosua, from where most hotels are located (about a mile) , you could take a motoconcho or a taxi from the caribe tours bus station.
If you want to stay where some of the chicas live, you could rent a room at the hotel cubano, about 1 1/2 block south of the Europa Hotel. Years ago I knew chicas who lived at the hotel romanoff.
There is a small love type motel (small, clean rooms) south of the main road on the charamicos side of Sosua (existed when I was in sosua years ago).
